About Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire On February 27, 1986, The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire was established as The Neighbor to Neighbor Mediation Center. 15 years later, they changed the name to The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire Incorporated in 2001. Over the last twenty years, the Mediation Center has trained over 200 volunteer mediators, conducted over 8,000 mediations and facilitated nearly five thousand settlements. The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to harness the power of qualified volunteers, facilitate the process of citizens, proactively managing conflict in Savannah, Georgia. Mission Statement The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire strives to provide and promote methods other than litigation for settling disputes within the community. The Center places emphasis on keeping settlements confidential, inexpensive, prompt and readily accessible to everyone. They maintain trained, qualified, and competent staff to provide these alternative methods to conduct a program of continuous training and other means of quality assurance to provide opportunities for training in alternative dispute resolution to schools, other agencies, and or individuals, in order to enhance these skills throughout the community.
