A powerhouse known as The Kyle Pease Foundation, continues to pave the way for inclusion through sports long and beyond long after race day, is only as powerful as the community and the network behind the foundation . The Athletes, Teammates, donors, sponsors, parents, families, caregivers, KPF Ambassadors, staff, board members, volunteers… “These Are Our People . ”
From 2011 with, “Where There’s A Wheel, There’s A Way” launched beyond what cofounders Brent and Kyle Pease could imagine would be within their wildest dreams 13 years later . In 2024, 150 Athletes served, 1,274 finish lines crossed, and races in 46 endurance events across 14 states! “We say it all of the time . None of this would be possible with each and every person we have met at KPF .
From the first ever KPF Athlete we served, Jake Vinson, to each and every volunteer we met along the way Each donor, each teammate, each caregiver…we cannot race for inclusion or make any of this possible without each individual KPF is a very special place for all, and you are our family These… these are our people ” – Brent Pease

KPF Athlete Wilson Barron completed IRONMAN 70 3 Louisville with KPF Ambassadors Kendall Messer and Brandon Gray ‘24 Highlight

It started with a simple question: “Can people in wheelchairs compete in IRONMAN’s?” Little did Kyle know back then how much of an impact that question would have on the lives of so many in the many years to follow.
At the heart and core of what we do is inclusion, and how we include is through sports and beyond . In 2011, it all started with a chair or two, and now, in 2024, the foundation, through “it’s people,” has blasted through the number of athletes served benchmarks, fundraising goals, volunteers, and so much more .
As the foundation reflected back in 2024, it was hard for the founders Brent and Kyle to each pick one memory to zoom in on . For both, Kona quickly popped into their minds as the past two years, both the brothers, the board, and the entire organization had been planning and ramping up to this big moment, “When we are in the world championships, we are all in the world championships Dale (KPF Athlete) told us this when we last raced Kona in 2018 . It resonated so much that this year we brought not only our team but three board members Greg, Jason and Steve not only raced, but helped us raise more than $1,000,000 to support our inclusive employment team It’s tremendous the impact, together, we are marking far beyond anyone’s finish line” Kyle echo’s, “Kona was more than a race it was a movement of inclusion The training process was so much fun to get to hang out with Brent and the entire Kona team It felt like we’re all there to support each other for something bigger than us It was for our KPF family . ” Off the island, the End of Year Celebration when all KPF Athletes, partners, donors, Ambassadors, teammates, volunteers, family members, staff members, you name it…come together and celebrate all that went into that year of success and inclusion on and off the race course, that always brings joy to both of the founder’s faces
“We always want to enjoy the organization’s hard work because it doesn’t stem from one event It’s not one individual or one duo who makes the success happen here It takes every one of us We’ve always said from day one, that “these are our people . ” Those who were willing to wake up at 5:00 in the morning and drive the truck to the local 5K’s when it was a small group of us . It’s those who bring 15-20 extra people together to the Publix Atlanta Half Marathon to contribute to the many, many teammates it takes to get over 40 athletes across 13 1 miles throughout the city of Atlanta The families and caregivers wake up extra early to ensure their child is ready to go and to feel like a true athlete each time they roll out to the start line with our KPF Team
Our staff works countless hours to ensure our community feels the support they need to make these events happen The strong partnerships and donors who keep the lights on and the wheels rolling on our race equipment… every piece of our community…it’s our secret weapon . It’s why The Kyle Pease Foundation is what it is today, and why we’re so excited for what 2025 has to offer ”

Racing for Inclusion: The Kyle Pease Foundation’s Impact at Kona 2024
The 2024 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, was more than just a race for The Kyle Pease Foundation . It was a statement—one of perseverance, inclusion, and opportunity . Fueled by years of training and an unwavering support system, the Pease brothers and three KPF board members took on the ultimate endurance challenge with a mission to raise $1 million, expand the Inclusive Employment Program, and prove that inclusion knows no limits The journey to Kona was anything but easy It demanded intense preparation, long hours of training, and a relentless commitment to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible But the impact of their efforts reached far beyond race day Not only did they complete one of the world’s most grueling endurance events, but they also shattered the duo course record, surpassing the legendary Team Hoyt .
More importantly, their efforts sparked real change The team’s fundraising success directly fueled initiatives that will create lasting opportunities for individuals with disabilities, including two new full-time jobs, financial security through Special Needs Trust Funds, and long-term investments in employee support This milestone reinforces KPF’s mission to provide meaningful employment and inclusion in all aspects of life
None of this would have been possible without the dedication of Steve Barth, Jason Linscott, and Gregory Smith, three KPF board members whose commitment helped turn an ambitious vision into reality Their support ensured that this journey was about more than just crossing a finish line—it was about breaking barriers and proving that inclusive employment isn’t just an idea but a future already being built
Kona 2024 wasn’t just about racing It was about showing the world that inclusion belongs everywhere—in sports, in the workplace, and beyond the finish line

CELEBRATING 10 YEARS
THE JAKE GOLF TOURNAMENT

One of our favorite annual and constantly evolving events comes each September, The Jake Golf Tournament . This year was especially significant as we celebrated 10 incredible years for Jake .
Jake Vinson was THE very first athlete to participate with The Kyle Pease Foundation . His legacy continues to live in the heart of the foundation every year, through the golf tournament and now the invitational, as his spirit inspires love and faith in our community

FOR THE LOVE OF INCLUSION TENNIS TOURNAMENT
In October 2024, The Kyle Pease Foundation held its second annual tennis tournament, For the Love of Inclusion . The event was a complete success and raised $30,000 to support KPF’s Grant Program .

GRANT OPPORTUNITIES
Each year, one of the most fulfilling aspects of The Kyle Pease Foundation’s work is providing grants to deserving families within our community .
In 2020, The Kyle Pease Foundation broadened its annual grant offerings to include three distinct opportunities Each of our grants is named in memory of cherished family members who have passed Though they are no longer with us, their legacy and spirit continue to thrive through the foundation .

The Bethany Rutledge Courage Award

In 2015, The Kyle Pease Family Foundation Grant was renamed The Jake Vinson Family Grant in memory of our late friend, Jake Vinson Jake was the first KPF Athlete and will forever be remembered as a young man who embodies the spirit of our organization . This grant is intended for individuals and families who are living with a disability and looking to enhance their quality of life through resources that may not be readily available
The Lucye Caplan Broken Wheel award is generously provided by the Caplan family . Lucye was a passionate supporter of The Kyle Pease Foundation and loved the organization’s mission and engagement During her fight against cancer, Lucye was motivated and encouraged by KPF athletes and volunteers overcoming odds to achieve their dreams She maintained a similar attitude throughout her life and truly lived the philosophy of ‘find a way ’ Jeff, Will and Danny Caplan have created an ongoing award and grant to honor Lucye’s memory, celebrate her incredible spirit and support the foundation’s mission
Bethany Rutledge and her husband John often participated in KPF events, gathered their friends to race, and shared the message about inclusion on race day . When Bethany was unexpectedly taken from her loved ones in 2019, John wanted to find a way to carry on her legacy and help those that she loved in The Kyle Pease Foundation community . Bethany often encouraged others to be brave, which led her family to establish The Bethany Rutledge Courage Award This grant supports a family annually by helping with their individual needs

INCLUSIVE EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM
The Kyle Pease Foundation Inclusive Employment Program was established in 2017 when our first inclusive employee, Justin Knight, approached KPF after he raced with us He never asked us for a grant, but for an opportunity to join the front office team and help give back to his community, inspire by our founder, Kyle Pease .

Currently, The Kyle Pease Foundation employs six (6) Inclusive Employees who play a key role in our day-to-day operations at KPF . These are individuals who have a disability and through KPF, have a strong skill set that contributes to the growth, success, and ongoing support of our KPF Athletes and their families .
