REMOTE LEARNING PARENT TIPS
• Sitting and helping your child during remote learning can vary from student to student and from grade level to grade level. As a parent, you may find yourself sitting in another room with little to no need to assist during the virtual classroom to have to be alongside your child during the whole remote session. These differences can range from simply helping your child find a link on an assignment to trying to understand the complexity of a lesson yourself. Teachers do understand this can be different and sometimes difficult for the parent. Please note, if you want suggestions for helping, remember to send a message to the teacher through Class Dojo or write a quick note on the chat board. • Keep in mind that it’s more about the child, not always about the work. As parents, we want our children to do well in school. But, it doesn’t necessarily mean completing every assignment with no mistakes. A student doing well is a student that is curious about learning. They may not understand the task write away, but they want to keep trying and find out what they may have gotten incorrect and fix it later. Keep your child happy for learning, not pressured to get everything done correctly. With remote learning, completing every assignment and mastering every lesson will be difficult. The most important point we want during this time is for our students to continue to enjoy school and look forward to learning. f
