Dear Brookwood School District 167 Parents and School Community,
Brookwood School District 167 will be implementing an Adaptive Pause for the Return-to-In-Person Learning. This decision is based on IDPH Data and COVID-19 Current Metrics and is consistent with all information shared with the Board of Education, Parents, Staff and School Community.
The Adaptive Pause will delay the return to inperson learning and the new date for returning back will be March 16, 2021. We will continue providing on site services for students with IEP’s, EL Plans, and Safe Space. As we have all experienced, circumstances have been extremely sensitive throughout the pandemic and we are prepared to remain responsive to new information. I am confident we will continue to work together to make the best of our current situation, remembering that there are better days on the horizon. I thank you for your support as we continue to navigate through this unprecedented time together.

MRS. DOREEN DAVIS, BOARD PRESIDENT MRS. SANDRA WASHINGTON, BOARD VICE PRESIDENT MS. MARY TAYLOR, BOARD SECRETARY MR. JOHN DIXON, BOARD MEMBER DR. TIFFANY GRAHAM, BOARD MEMBER MRS. TOLEDA HART,
This adaptive pause delay could not be declared at our last Board of Education Meeting on February 8, 2021 because we were more than a week outside the seven (7) day rolling average window (although I did refer to being in alignment with the metrics in order to return). We are now close to that window and this adaptive pause decision is as nearest to the window, is based on IDPH/CCDPH metrics and I believe the safest decision to make at this time. An Adaptive Pause is a strategy that allows for movement into any level of remote learning to prevent disease transmission during a pandemic. An Adaptive Pause may result in delayed reopening or a pivot to remote learning once the school year is underway for school officials to have time to plan for next steps with parents, teachers and staff. Adaptive Pauses may be for a set period of time depending on the specific metrics related to transmission and infection rates within a county or school district/area and its student population. 201 E.
