Minutes subject to approval at the May 17, 2023, Board of Directors Meeting
BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING WILL BE JULY 19TH AT 7PM - CLUBHOUSE NORTH HALL
We will not be any meetings in June, July and August.
Courtney from the Dawn Center joined us as we had many donated items for her to distribute where needed.
See you at our first fall meeting on Monday, September 18, at 1:00 pm in the Clubhouse.
Brookridge Creative Writers meet the 2nd Wednesdays of the month, noon to 2pm during the summer months. Meetings are held in the south end of the main hall of the clubhouse. All ability levels welcome. All styles and genres welcome.
We are into the spring & summer and although we don't have community activities scheduled, we are still very bust getting organized for the fall. We will also have club events throughout the summer.
We will be helping during the Independence Day activities. We are looking forward to the fall when in co-operation with other groups bringing back the Car Show. We will also begin having Community Breakfasts and Horse Races again.
The CAR SHOW is coming along well and we are anticipating it to be a great start to fall here in Brookridge. In addition, we are co-sponsoring the Halloween Dance with the Social DANCE Committee, it is going to be packed with fun and excitement.
We are a group of hard-working men that enjoy helping others and seeing our community grow while having fun. If you would like to be part of the Men's Club, come join us at our meeting on the July 26th at 3:00 pm. If you have questions, please call Loren at 352-442-6837.
Hopefully by the time you read this you will have noticed the new mulch on the front right corner of the clubhouse, the completed mulching at the Administration Office and on Midmoor. Thank you to Bob, who did it all by himself! Also, maybe by this time, the fountain in front of the guard shack will have been painted and running again.
We would like to thank the residents who step up and pick up trash in the medians in front of their homes. Every little bit of help with keeping Brookridge beautiful is appreciated.
We request that residents not plant random plants in the median. We always need to coordinate any new plantings with the Public Works guys because of the mowing. That's why we have the designated beds. If you have something you would like planted, please contact a member of the Beautification Committee. We will let you know if there is a spot where a plant could be added, and we might plant it for you.
As always, please watch out for us when you see us working in the medians and the front sign area. Slow down and move over when possible
We always welcome new volunteers, especially those who have a love for gardening and knowledge of Florida plants and landscaping, or those who would just like something more to do. If you have any questions or suggestions, please call Jim Snyder, Chairman, at 352-596-1804. Monthly meetings are the 2nd Thursday of each month at 10:00 a.m., at the Clubhouse.
Monetary Donations can be made by check payable to BCPO with “Beautification Committee” noted in the memo section of the check and deliver it to the Administration Office, or give it to any of the members of the committee
Porches and decks are frequently added to new or existing structures and add much usable and enjoyable space for outdoor activities. All such additions require ACC approval and are subject to setback requirements.
Raised porches or decks must be finished to the ground with material compatible with deck or dwelling and screened with landscaping or other acceptable materials. If latticework is used as skirting it must be screened on the backside to deter animals from nesting or dwelling underneath the deck.
Code Enforcement officers are available at the Administration Office during normal business hours to answer questions and assist in completing
ACC Applications

A big thank you goes to EVERYONE who works at the Brookridge Community Center
I know I can be a pain but all of the employees are always cheerful and willing to help get me what I need.
Many times, over the years, they were able to something specific for a group set up that I requested at the last minute.
I do thank them personally and I often comment how great they are but I think everyone should know what a great job they do for our clubs and committes.

The program began with an outdoor welcome and a flag raising/half-mast by the Spring Hill NJROTC. Margie Ellison sang the National Anthem and the crowd sang along. Dick Theriault who was the Master of Ceremony for the entire event gave a small welcome message and thanked everyone for attending. Once inside the main program began with Dick welcoming everyone and he then called upon our own Honor Guard, (The BCPO Color/Honor Guard) to "Present Colors." We has guest speakers were from the Marine Corps League #708, (Honored Speaker was Jim Bravico – Commandant of the League) Maryann, commander of the DAV – Brooksville, Peggy Christie – Daughters of American Revolution, Frank Glassford and Terry Dunn both multiple Purple Heart Recipients. Our own BCOP President Debbie Higgins-Coble gave a big welcome and had a very inspiring opening where she honored her husband Scotty a longtime retired Navy. Debbie told everyone that she was happy to see our residents join and enjoy these types of events. Gil Lanctot, then gave honors to what we believe to be the oldest "known" Veteran inside Brookridge – Camille Duquette. Cam received a number of awards and had his picture taken for our Wall of Honor. Cam was born in 1923 and served in the Navy where his ship was sunk. Cam spent hours "bobbing" in the water and was shot at by the enemy but as he says they were bad shots. Rescued by a British Ship he went to a hospital then transferred to an American Hospital. Following that award Debbie Higgins-Cobal and Dick Theriault presented an award and a donation to both the Marine Corps League and the Spring Hill NJROTC.
