As many of you know, there is a proposed development outside our gate on the northeast corner of Brookridge Central Blvd and Cortez Blvd (Highway 50). This proposed development is in the beginning stages of working through the Hernando County approval process.
I have assigned our Brookridge Advisory Committee to gather information & represent our community's issues and concerns on this proposed development.
At the 10/31/22 Hernando County Planning & Zoning Commission meeting, our Brookridge Advisory Committee emphasized the following points be considered:
1.Traffic Flow impact on Brookridge Central Blvd
2.A security barrier border along our Brookridge southern border to this project
3.Noise / Nighttime Lighting Buffers for our residents
4.Our “Brookridge Sign” (on Brookridge Central Blvd) considerations
5.Golf Cart path for our 1,200 resident owned golf carts to / from this development
Our Committee reported the Hernando County Planning & Zoning Commission was extremely receptive to Brookridge's concerns at this meeting and immediately directed the Hernando County Planning Dept to incorporate some of our concerns into documents for this development agreement, also suggesting we continue to keep our Brookridge issues at the forefront throughout the planning process.
Our Brookridge Advisory Committee presented the following concerns at this meeting:
1.Traffic Flow on Brookridge Central Blvd: 1,500,000 vehicle entrances/exits annually through our gates, to include in addition to resident and visitor passages, service company trailers, truck deliveries, semi deliveries, semi-tractor deliveries of manufactured homes up to 60' long, emergency response vehicles, etc.. Developer' Engineering firm is aware of the heavy traffic on Brookridge Central Blvd and already has 3 entrances / exits planned on Cortez Blvd to reduce traffic on Brookridge Central. A “Traffic Analysis Study” has been ordered. Brookridge Advisory Committee will work with County moving forward to ensure our traffic flow concerns are addressed / answered through this “Traffic Analysis Study”
2.Border Along Southern Border of Brookridge Homes: Committee working with developer and engineering firm on this.
3.Sound and Nighttime Lighting Barriers: County already has nighttime lighting and noise regulations for retail development next to residential communities. Committee requested vehicle and truck noise, nighttime deliveries, garbage dumpster emptying, semi-truck traffic, etc. be restricted to hours between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM
•Commissioners agreed and directed this be included in their development agreement.
•Committee will continue to have these issues at forefront in future development meetings.
4.Brookridge Sign: Requests this sign continue in its present location in any future Brookridge Central Blvd reconfiguration / expansion
•Committee did not get any sense of where County stands on this.
5.Golf Cart Access: Committee informed Commissioners Brookridge has 1,200+ resident-owned golf carts and asked golf cart access (and parking at stores) be included in development plans
•Commissioners agreed (also supported by County Engineer) and directed this be included in their development agreement.
To Be Determined: How to safely move golf carts to / from Brookridge to / from this development.
The Brookridge Advisory Committee is currently doing their due diligence in studying applicable regulations and networking with appropriate county department personnel, the development project engineer, and the developer to ensure Brookridge issues and concerns are thoughtfully considered and addressed.
The next meeting the Brookridge Advisory Committee will appear and provide testimony at is the Hernando County Board of Commissioners meeting on 11/8/2022.
Hoping you find these updates of the proposed development outside our gate informative!
Thank you, Ann Webster, BCPO President

Thanks to all the ladies who donned volunteers' hats and helped at the Veteran's Day Ceremony, the Fall Festival and the Christmas Tree decorating and lighting. Without you, events like these would not be possible.
Our amended By-Laws were ratified at our October meeting by a majority vote.
Thank you Patrona Turman, Tereasa Glassmyer and Gail Metcalf for all the hard work.
Tuesday Night Bingo is doing well, thanks to Anna Webster, Patrona Turman and all the crew that helps each week.

“How we spend Christmas is of greater significance than how much we spend on it”
The Brookridge Men's Club will be meeting, December 28th at 3:00 pm
Happy Holiday Season to everyone! We hope you are enjoying the Christmas lights and decorations. Our goal is to make it better every year. Thank you to everyone who helped with the work and the donations. A special thank you to Gerri Craft who donated the Christmas Flamingo. Each year we have to replace old, non-working lights, worn-out poinsettias, etc., and that all takes money. Please consider donating to the Beautification Committee so we can continue making the decorations bigger and better.
November's News & Views article was inadvertently a repeat of October's. The intended article commented on the great job Nancy Lechiara did with the Fall decorations Thanks Nancy! The article also thanked those who donated the small American flags.
One other thing: I know everyone sees and hears plenty about speeding on the Boulevard. The Beautification Committee would also like to weigh in on that. It's very scary for us, when we're working in the median and or stopping to pick up trash, and cars fly by and don't move over. Please be aware and slow down. We would certainly appreciate it.
We always welcome new volunteers, especially those who have a love for gardening, knowledge of Florida plants and landscaping, or those who would just like something more to do. If you have any questions or suggestions, please call Jim Snyder, Chairman, at 352-596-1804. Monthly meetings have been changed to the 2nd Thursday of each month at 10:00 a.m., at the Clubhouse •Monetary Donations can be made by check payable to BCPO
in the memo section of the check and deliver it to the Administration
of the committee.
The December scheduled meeting is Wednesday, the 7th at 10:00 am in Clubhouse Room D. Our meeting will celebrate the closing of the hurricane season, the end of another safe year, and CERT activities in Brookridge
Remember: Brookridge CERT needs YOU! Our number of active members has been dwindling and we need to improve the ratio of CERT members to residents of our community. This will be the only way we can continue to provide support should there be a disaster. We are a first responder to provide relief after a disaster to see what our community needs in the ways of first aid and safety
The Veterans Committee will be hosting the annual Toys for Tots boxes in Brookridge again this year. Drop boxes will be in the Administration Office and Clubhouse.
All toys collected here will be sorted and delivered to children in Hernando County.
Last year toys were delivered to over 3,000 Hernando families.

"Kings & Queens" play on Mondays at 2:00 pm, please be at the club by 1:30 pm.
Kings & Queens are a group of couples that play 9 holes of golf Monday afternoons - alternate shot format for the twosome. If you don't have a male/female partner, you may play as two ladies or two gents. If you haven't played yet, it might be a great way to meet your fellow golfers. This is a fun group. I'm sure you will enjoy it, but don't be too serious, as it is meant to be fun while enjoying our golf course. Newcomers are always welcome.
The cost to play is $1.00 per couple. All money is returned to the winners. It is not necessary to sign up any day, just come to the club ready to play golf.
Looking forward to seeing you Monday afternoons!
Our league plays "Fun Golf" year-round. Golfers of all levels are invited. New members are always welcome.
Our priority is having fun - most of our members are playing from the red or silver tees this year. Come out & enjoy the course with us.
Due to Covid-19 we will not exchange money or score cards this year. We'll continue playing "Fun Golf".
There will be no dues to join & play. No weekly payouts or points.
We tee off at 8:00 AM every Monday. Please meet in the parking lot at 7:30 am and form into groups around 7:45 am.
A busy season is coming up and the Proshop is looking to hire extra staff for the months of Jan, Feb & Mar 2023.
We hire based on enthusiasm and personality & experience is a benefit. There are special events throughout the year and there might be the opportunity for extra hours.
If you enjoy working with people and would like a couple of shifts a week, this would be a great job for you. Pick up applications at the proshop.
Our first meeting of the 2022-2023 season was held in early November. Since the weather was nice, we met on the courts rather than in the clubhouse. Coffee and doughnuts were served. And on Thanksgiving morning, those of us who were not busy putting the turkey into the oven played at our usual 8 am time, enjoying potluck snacks and breakfast drinks. Stay tuned for news of the annual holiday party!
Anyone who wants to learn the game is truly welcome. You will find us on the courts every day except Sunday, playing from 8 am to 10 am. There is no charge to play, and all skill levels are welcome.
If you are looking for fun, great exercise, and new friends, come and join us!
Fall Shuffleboard was such a blast! But with the time change comes a weather change so our schedule changed from evening hours to day hours in November. Now, we're into December! As our seasoned winter shufflers returned to join the fall players, our courts have filled. It's wonderful to see so many people enjoying themselves on the courts. Every year we grow. There is always room for more. The rules are simple.
1 If you don't know how to play, we will teach you.
2. If you know how to play, you can skip the lesson. 3. Bring 3 nickels.
We play Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday @ 1:30 Be sure to stop by.
Thanks, Debby Burns

The Bible is unlike any other book, for it’s alive. We don’t just read the Bible. The Bible reads us. “Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit...; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrew 4:12)
Come to the Clubhouse room C every Wednesday 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Do you ever wonder what your future holds? Come find out as we soon study the prophecies of coming events according to God's words.

If interested, please come on up to the Clubhouse some Friday and anyone can help you. We are also looking for more callers. Miss Ellie is up there on Tuesday afternoons at 3:00 pm to teach you how to call.
We have one more request to make. We are looking for someone who would be willing to come up to the Clubhouse on Friday night from 7:00 pm to about 8:30 pm to help Miss Ellie clean up the kitchen. This would be greatly appreciated as it is too much for one person to have to do alone. Have a Blessed Thanksgiving everyone.
WOW! We are at the end of another year. It is hard to believe. This is the month that we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ our Savior. So much of this celebration has been taken over by the world.
Let us always remember without the birth of our Savior, we would have no hope for this life or eternity. Take time to read Isaiah 9: 6-7. In the New Testament read Luke 2:1-7. This shows you the prophecy and the fulfillment of Jesus' birth. I give you the blessing found in Numbers 6:24-26: "the Lord bless you and keep you; the lord makes His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace."

When you sleep in an awkward position, you can wake up with a stiff neck. To loosen it up, take a stroll. When you walk at a decent pace, your arms naturally swing, creating motion in your muscles and relieving tension in the neck. Don't carry a bag or talk on the phone. This creates more tension in your neck. Exercising three days a week can also relieve tension.
Our class is for Brookridge residents and their houseguests (Sorry, no children). The cost is fifty cents per class and the first class is free!
