designs created for Form Drafting + Design and the rtment of Design.

Salt Fork Winery is a fully developed conceptual design based in Post, Texas. The site for this project sits on a plateau of land that overlooks the breathtaking landscape outside of Post, Texas. The area serves many large Texas ranches and lake houses, in addition to West Texas residents. The vision for this project was to create a multi-use space that focused on the heritage of West Texas, while incorporating the vibrant colors and textures of the surrounding landscape. The property houses four large buildings: a winery, a restaurant, an event space, and an office space. These buildings were designed to maximize views and use of indoor/outdoor spaces. This project is also designed with strong consideration for comfortable yet stylish ADA accommodations.

The Briarcrest Project was a conceptual design created for a Dallas-based group of real estate investors for the purpose of marketing the sale of the Briarcrest Property. This expansive, abandoned property consisted of a sprawling 5500 square-feet of untouched early-nineties style. The scope of this project included new floor plans for the home’s three master suites, kitchen, living room, dining room, and in-law suite. The strange floor plan puzzled buyers for months, but sold within days of the renderings being released.

Amaran Assisted Living is a newly constructed division of Amaran Montessori Primary School, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 2019, the Texas Tech Department of Design tasked their students with creating full design proposals for the owner of the school, as well as the architecture firm that designed the building. This project was to consist of three floors with various levels of assisted living, ranging from independent retirement to memory care. Our team spent an entire year researching the history of New Mexican culture, assisted living care, the psychology of color and textures, and the care and treatment that the residents would receive. Our team chose to base our design on elements of nature, which can be seen as motifs throughout each rendering. Each floor is designed to represent an environmental element through color, texture and pattern. * NOT TO SCALE

A Veterans Place is a conceptual design developed for the Texas Tech Department of Design. Tasked with picking something I was passionate about and developing a design to fit the need, I chose veteran mental health and created a treatment facility to provide a new, calming, positive space for veterans to seek help for mental health issues that so often go untreated. This space was created for in-patient and out-patient treatment and is fitted with a variety of therapy spaces to fit all needs. From individual sessions to group therapy, this space was designed to accommodate a variety of treatment methods for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The facility sits on Lake Travis, in Austin, Texas, where residents can escape a world of loud noises and triggering factors to relax and restore their mental health without feeling like a patient.

Place

A Veterans Place was designed with nature in mind. Colors, textures and textiles were chosen to mimic the nature the facility is surrounded with. Austin is full of beautiful live oak trees, which is why green was selected as the primary upholstery color. The main areas feature a white stone fireplace, which mimics the limestone found on the cliffs of Lake Travis. The warm leather tone mimics the sunsets that can be seen in the rear of the facility, which fall to the west over the lake every evening. The rich wood tones represent the heavily wooded areas throughout Northwest Austin. Every detail was developed to invoke a sense of tranquility; a stark difference to what most veterans have become accustomed to through tours of duty.

When designing a safe space for veterans to gather and reside, ADA compliance is of the utmost importance. Unfortunately, it is incredibly common that debilitating injury and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder are related. For this reason, this facility was designed to be wheelchair and service animal friendly. However, function does not mean style must be sacrificed. In returning to civilian life, returning to an environment that feels like home is essential to healing. The motivation behind A Veterans Place Design was to create an accessible, yet upscale home instead of a medical institution.
