About the International Foundation Diploma (IFD)

Brookhurst International Schools gained the honor of being the first school to offer NCC Education programmes. This was achieved after a rigorous evaluation process. Who are NCC Education?
NCC Education was originally part of the National Computing Centre established as a computing initiative by the British Government in 1966. It is a fully accredited UK awarding body and a global provider of distinct British education in Business, Computing, and university access programmes. Qualifications in Computing and Business span from foundational to Master's degree level, accommodating a wide array of academic interests.
NCC education qualifications are internationally recognized and highly valued by employers and universities across continents. NCC education is recognized and regulated by Ofqual in UK just like Cambridge or Pearson examinations bodies which people are more familiar with.

The level 3 international foundation diploma (IFD) course is studied over a short 30-week period (8 months) split into 2 semesters. The programme allows students to complete their study in a shorter period of time over other alternatives on offer. The diploma offers students excellent pathways to computer science, business, engineering, health sciences and higher finance degrees.

Access
Academic Entry Requirements:
To enroll in the IFD programme, students need to meet either of the following requirements
IGCSE/O-LEVEL
IGCSE/GCSE ‘O’
Levels with passes in 5 subjects at a minimum grade of ‘C’. These must include Mathematics and English.
2 E Grades from a UK A-Level Board.
For students with the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), a mean grade of at least C- is required, including passes in English and Mathematics.

Programs Qualification Time
1) International Foundation Diploma
Successful completion with a minimum of 22 points.
The timetable is a two-semester model with 15 weeks per semester: 13 teaching weeks and 2 additional weeks to prepare for and conduct assessments.
Each semester will be approximately 3 months and 3 weeks. There will be 1-2 week’s break after the first semester.
Enrollment and examination table:
Applicants must normally be between 16-19 years old by 31st December in the year that they start IFD.Applicants who are 16 may be accepted in exceptional cases but such students will have limited progression options.

AS LEVEL International BaccalaureateMiddle Years Programme
The Units
Students must choose the preferred combination of units to the total value of 120 Credits.*
(A)4 core + 2 elective (both 20-credit)
(B)3 core + 3 elective (all 20-credit)
(C)4 core + 1 elective (20-credit) + 2 elective (10-credit)
(D)3 core + 2 elective (20-credit) + 2 elective (10-credit)
CORE UNITS
These Core Units equate to 80 Units –Students need to choose additional Electives to make up another 40 Units.
ELECTIVE UNITS
FEES STRUCTURE FOR INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION DIPLOMA
This program period is two semesters comprising of 30 weeks and a maximum of one year. The program is offered to students who have completed IGCSE (O level), KCSE and those taking AS and wish to join the program. It is offered to students who are boarders or day-scholars and is available in Lavington and Kiserian Campuses.
The following is the fees structure. Fees is paid either in KES or US Dollars.
