Which values did Brookhurst impart on you thathaveaneffectonyoutoday?
Since joining the school, I gathered values such as independence but still working in a team, I gathered hard work and compassion towards my work and values such as these have made me who I am today. In Brookhurst, we practised kindness to everybody not only to the teachers but the staff at large and this has impacted me greatly on how I converse with everybody around me

Nursing to Save LIVES
At the moment I just completed my International Foundation in Healthcare. I am pursuing a bachelor’s degree in BSc (Hons) Nursing Adult at Anglia Ruskin University.
Tell us about your transition to university life in another country? Whathasbeenyourexperience? Q 5
The transition to university life was not an easy one for me considering I had to move countries and adapt to their way of life in context to their currency and lifestyle but after a couple of weeks, I began to understand my way around. University life requires you to be selfdisciplined to achieve the most out of it, especially in a foreign country.
The level, quality and variety of education offered were outstanding, but I valued my class teacher She was the most helpful and caring person. She was our class mother not only in the sense of classwork and academics but in our own lives she did an amazing job in raising us for those 2 years. It is safe to say we all turned out right

transition to university life was not an easy one for me considering I had to move countries and adapt to their way of life in context to their currency and lifestyle

What advice would you give a Brookhurst graduate looking to study abroad?
If you are looking to study overseas you need to have come prepared to give your best and this requires you to have self-discipline and values from home, you need to keep them at heart because they will be your guide throughout your university life Have a mind of your own and have your own opinions on matters
What skills, hobbies or causes have you pickedupsinceleavingBrookhurst?
While I was a student at Brookhurst, I was in the basketball team, and I kept that sport/ hobby alive I only play it as a hobby because I am preoccupied most of the time and need to keep fit and release any tension and stress that I might have picked up during the day. I also jog early morning to keep my mind refreshed all through the day.
I plan on completing my current course here at Anglia Ruskin University and gaining all the experience I might, but I will practice in other countries I am in pursuit of Australia and the United States Once acquired I will fully settle and seek citizenship there.

Q 1
Q 2
What are your fondest memories about your timeatBrookhurstInternationalSchool?
I fondly remember having to wake up early to avoid dormitory closure as we had a set timetable. If we didn’t keep time we had to do a run on campus before going to class.
It didn’t matter if I was a prefect I had to do it, haha. Sometimes you would unluckily miss breakfast, which in the long run, helped me with being disciplined, with time keeping and taught me that even if you are a prefect, rules still must be followed.
Which values did Brookhurst impart on you thathaveanimpactonyoutoday?
Brookhurst aided in the growth of my social interaction skills. I was able to speak up more and interact with freely & openly with others. My leadership skills were also improved as I was the Girls Sports Captain and Ass Entertainment Prefect SAIMUN and the Interschool games we routinely had played a massive role in my personal development

Q 4
Q 5
Whatareyoucurrentlyupto?
I’m a student at MAHSA University, Malaysia, studying bachelor in doctor of dental surgery.
Q 6
Tell us about your transition to university life in another country? Whathasbeenyourexperience?
Moving from home to a totally different place was exciting at first I won’t lie. But it became harder by the day, considering I had no family whatsoever here in Malaysia. I was really happy when I made some good friends both from Kenya and International students as well and tried to make the best out of what I had.
I HAVE CRIED many times calling home and most of the time I’d comfort myself with pictures of my loved ones back home I remember, I would talk with my brother on the phone and he would ask me , “ Sis, Kwani when are you coming back home?” and I’d say to him, “We haven’t been told yet but I’ll tell you when I’m coming home”. Nevertheless, from the time I came, I have tried to enjoy myself and focus on what brought me here. Home will always be waiting for me so I had to put on my big girl pants and make it work.

What skills, hobbies or causes have you picked up since leaving Brookhurst?
Some of the skills I would say I have honed are added time and money management. For hobbies I have just continued with my swimming and playing the violin Haven’t really tried something new yet. But I am eager to learn something new this year

What advice would you give a Brookhurst graduate looking to study abroad?
Really engage with the consultants who come to the school. I really appreciate Imperial Consultants because they helped me with my settling in Malaysia I know it can be boring and exhausting to always being called to the school hall for the talks but do take them seriously because they come in handy Also, apply to multiple colleges and universities of your choice Don’t limit yourself to just one or two options.
Message To Class Of 2024
BE YOUR OWN PERSON. Numerous times i witnessed how students would let their friendships in school determine how they live their lives This may lead to unknown consequences. My dad used to say these wise words to me, “TIME WILL TELL”. We may lie to ourselves, our parents or whomever that we are studying but at the end of the day, the grades speak for themselves.
As of now I just plan to finish my degree and come back home and maybe do my internship for at least a few years then start looking for a job.
PRIORITIZE STUDYING but let it not take too much of your time, try to balance it with doing other activities that you like. Furthermore, don’t waste your time. You’re in Brookhurst for a very short time and it will fly without you noticing. Make the most out of it. Disturb teachers with questions even though you think the question is dumb.
Lastly, don’t forget to put God first in everything that you do. (Proverbs 2:1-6) and I DID IT, YOU CAN DO IT.
