In the latest incident police were called to Revel Jewelers, located at 306 East Fordham Road, at 7 p.m. on August 10. According to published reports, a group of 10 masked individuals entered the store, one flashed a handgun as other members sprayed workers with bear repellent. Members of the gang then smashed display cases and made off with $800,000 in jewels. At the time police stated that four men brazenly entered the shop and smashed at least two display cases with a hammer. One witness reported that the men jumped into a waiting vehicle, police say with over $2 million in diamond rings and other high-end jewelry.
Video released by the NYPD shows the man who was initially buzzed in, stood outside as a lookout.
One police source told the Bronx Voice at the time, "An unknown individual approached the front door and was buzzed inside of the store by an employee. The individual then held the door open for an additional three individuals. Once inside the store, the three individuals used a hammer to smash open the display case and removed a large amount of high-end diamond jewelry."

In preparation for the start of the school year parents need to make sure their children have all their medications: nose sprays, syrups, pumps, everything! Having a set schedule at home when children should take these medications during the summer, might help staying consistent with them once school is around the corner. Remember to always give your child medications as prescribed by their doctor. Reach out to your child’s pediatrician, or their allergist or pulmonologist for refills if you need them. And schedule a visit if it is overdue: your child’s medical needs change with time and having their doctor see them before school starts is a clever way of making sure everything is running smoothly. As the days get shorter and cooler, we sense we are heading towards the end of summer and approaching the beginning of the new school year. This is an exciting time for parents and children alike. Parents often cherish going back to established routines and schedules, and children are eager to reunite with their friends and share their summer stories. But for families who struggle with asthma and seasonal allergies, “back to school” can also be an incredibly stressful time. "Treatment against COVID-19 is a game changer. Our mobile Test to Treat program furthers our mission by bringing these new lifesaving medications equitably to every community,” said Dr. Ted Long, Executive Director of the NYC Test & Treat Corps and Senior Vice President, Ambulatory Care and Population Health, NYC Health + Hospitals. “Our unique onestop-shop model that connects you to treatment minutes after you test positive shows how far we’ve come in the fight against COVID-19, and shows the powerful tools we now have to keep our city safe.”
“Mobile Test to Treat locations bring New Yorkers, including those experiencing homelessness, immediate connections to treatment no matter where they live, their insurance status or their ability to pay,” said Helena Keown and Nixxi Chen, Senior Managers of the NYC Test & Treat Corps mobile testing program.
The NYC Test & Treat Corps will continue to work hand in hand with community partners to ensure testing deployments reach New Yorkers in neighborhoods most impacted by COVID-19 and to coordinate closely with DOHMH to make data-informed decisions.Multiple COVID-19 treatments are available for people ages 12 and older and can be delivered to New Yorkers' homes for free. The mobile Test to Treat fleet includes six units operated by the Street Health Outreach + Wellness (SHOW) program, a mobile health initiative focused on treating New Yorkers experiencing homelessness and those historically disconnected from care.Since the mobile Test to Treat program’s launch on June 30, mobile Test to Treat staff have tested nearly 30,000 New Yorkers for COVID-19. Of those New Yorkers tested, 4,600 tested positive, 1,300 were found eligible for Paxlovid and over 1,000 were immediately prescribed and received Paxlovid— approximately 75% of eligible patients. In addition, to ensure deployments are reaching New Yorkers most in need, 75% of mobile Test to Treat locations have been established in neighborhoods the City’s Taskforce on Racial Inclusion and Equity (TRIE) determined were hardest hit by the Mobilepandemic.Testto Treat units are currently deployed at the locations listed here. New Yorkers can visit nyc.gov/ covidtest to find the city-run testing site nearest and most suitable to them, including by filtering testing sites by Test to Treat, mobile testing or athome test distribution locations.
In addition to the mobile Test to Treat program, the city’s unique 24/7 COVID-19 Hotline, 212-COVID-19, provides New Yorkers who test positive — including those using an at-home test — an immediate connection to a clinician who can prescribe treatments. After a short assessment, these clinicians can refer patients to monoclonal antibody treatment or prescribe antiviral medications, like Paxlovid, and arrange to have it delivered to their home that same day.
The city’s COVID-19 Hotline, which utilizes NYC Health + Hospitals’ Virtual ExpressCare platform to connect patients to clinicians, has connected over 18,000 New Yorkers to Paxlovid, providing approximately 12% of all Paxlovid prescriptions issued across New York City.

Mamma Francesca had built one of Westchester’s original woodburning brick oven pizza ovens years ago. When Nick DiCostanzo was growing up on the Island of Ischia on the Coast of Naples in Italy, his earliest memories where of the simple seaside meals he would enjoy with his family, farm-to-table and of course sea-to-table. Located on the banks of Long Island Sound with 6-story views of the ‘Queen City’s’ seafaring boat clubs, this culinary philosophy still holds true, albeit with a sprinkling of contemporary taste.
