LIVEGOD’SLOVECAMPAIGN

Dear Fellow St. Columbans,
As we prepare to bid farewell to Ledlie in about 10 days, we – your wardens and vestry - are delighted to share the results of our 150th Anniversary Campaign. The success of this effort is one of Ledlie’s many great accomplishments from his decade of service to St. C’s.
Total Funds Raised
The total pledged for the recent “Living God’s Love” Capital Campaign is roughly $8,935,000 from 265 households. The vestry has decided that these funds will be allocated as followed (See below for more information about vestry decisions):
$ 630,000 to the Beloved Community Fund to support community outreach partnerships aimed toward racial justice.
$ 630,000 to seed our Endowment, which we aim to grow through bequests.
$ 7,000,000 to Property Development, to complete many of the priorities identified in our master planning effort, including improvements to the Butterworth wing to support the Water Ministry and youth programming, new more welcoming entrances, updated elevator, commercial kitchen, and pre-development of the Fletcher House site.
$ 675,000 for Expenses such as debt service and contingency.
The “Living God’s Love” Capital Campaign was just the latest of a series of campaigns that Ledlie spearheaded in the past several years. The others included:
$ 2,250,000 from 16 households for the “Gathered, Fed, Sent” campaign, which funded Nave Repairs and the outdoor Labyrinth, completed in 2021.
$ 880,000 from 24 households for the “Leap of Faith” Campaign, which enabled our post-COVID recovery, sustained our online presence, and provided the groundwork for the 150th Anniversary Campaign.
$ 1,275,000 in bequests committed by seven households, which will eventually expand our endowment. Across these components of our 150th Anniversary Campaign, the grand total is $13,340,000!
What happens next
The Anti-Racism Task Force is working out how we will more specifically deploy the Beloved Community Fund. They are eager to hear your ideas. Look out for more updates this spring.
We are now beginning plans for building improvements and construction, led by a newly constituted Property Development Task Force, planning for construction to commence in summer of 2026. We are also moving forward with pre-development of the Fletcher House site, led by a new Fletcher House Task Force. Plans for this site are moving forward on a different (longer) timeframe. Look for updates on these efforts in the coming months.
With joy and deep gratitude,
Gina Lagomarsino, Senior Warden and Andrew Marshall, Junior Warden on behalf of the whole vestry
More detail on vestry decisions related to the Capital Campaign
On June 17, 2024, with advice from fundraising consultants, the vestry approved a capital campaign goal of $6M to be divided as follows: $500,000 for the Beloved Community Fund, $500,000 for the endowment fund, and $5 million for building improvements.
This $6M goal was viewed as achievable, but it required us to significantly cut back on the more than $12M in priority projects that had been identified by the Master Planning Committee. Hopeful that we could exceed the $6M goal, the vestry passed an additional resolution in June designating that the first $1.7M of any additional donations above $6 million (up to $7.7M total) would be used to restore several cuts that we had made to the building project. We also designated that amounts raised in excess of $7.7M would be allocated on a basis of 80/10/10, with 80% to additional building improvements and 10% each to the Beloved Community Fund and the Endowment Fund. This past fall, as it became clear that we would exceed our $6M goal, we notified potential donors that this was how their funds would be used.
The vestry reaffirmed these decisions on January 27th, 2025 when we voted to deploy the $8,935,000 raised as follows:
$ 630,000 to the Beloved Community Fund to support community outreach partnerships aimed toward racial justice.
$ 630,000 to seed our Endowment, which we aim to grow through bequests.
$ 7,000,000 to Property Development, to complete many of the priorities identified in our master planning effort including improvements to the Butterworth wing to support the Water Ministry and youth programming, new more welcoming entrances, updated elevator, commercial kitchen, and pre-development of the Fletcher House site.
$ 675,000 for Expenses such as debt service and contingency.
If you have any questions about these decisions, please don’t hesitate to contact Gina Lagomarsino, Senior Warden; Andrew Marshall, Junior Warden or Mike Davis, Treasurer

Thank You
Please join us in thanking Ledlie for aligning us around these ambitious goals and joyfully leading the fundraising effort. But he did not do it alone! Let’s also thank:
Co-chairs of the Capital Campaign Lane Heard, Keri Peister and Gardell Gefke, and the many, many volunteers who made visits to roughly 350 St. Columba’s households
Co-chairs of the Master Planning effort Elizabeth Taylor and Stephen Smith, and the many other dedicated members of that committee
Co-chairs of the Anti-Racism Task Force Kesha Evans and Lane Heard and other members of the task force who are designing the Beloved Community Fund
And especially the more than 300 St. C’s households who generously pledged to this combined 150th Anniversary Campaign!
