We pride ourselves on the being part of a council.

Our position has helped us offer our customers a unique commercialised service but maintaining the sense of security and trust as a local authority. We continue to grow our services year on year, always taking customer feedback into consideration.

Statistics released by Recycle Now in July 2020 showed that through lockdown the UK has become even more environmentally aware, with nearly 9 in 10 households saying they ‘regularly recycle’.

Coming out of lockdown, more people are prepared to change their lifestyles for the better and help the environment at 73 per cent, up from 68 per cent in 2019. An amazing 93 per cent of UK households say they believe that ‘everyone has a responsibility to help towards cleaning up the environment’.

We believe businesses feel that way too, and why should you miss out? That is why, unlike a lot of organisations, we offer a full dry mixed recycling service which we launched a few years ago and has gone from strength to strength. Look out for our unmissable pink bins! This means you can reduce your carbon footprint and help your customers do their bit for the environment too.

And we practice what we preach, because as an organisation we believe that it is important to reduce our own impact too and have pledged to become carbon neutral by 2050. We’ve already started this process with the implementation of electric vehicle chargers, a growing fleet of electric vehicles and ambitious plans for a new natural heat network in the town.

Our friendly, approachable and customer focused team take away the hassle of managing a waste contract. We strive to build working relationships with our customers, creating a more flexible and personalised service.

This customer based approach allows us to move with the times and adapt. During lockdown in 2020 we helped many of our business waste customers, meaning that they didn’t incur a single penny in charges from us while they were helping the country. For us, the customer always comes first and our ability to tailor our service meant that our customers didn’t have to worry about business waste in an already stressful situation beyond their control.

How it works Whether it’s general waste or recycling services you need, we’ve got containers, collections and payment options to suit your business.

1. Choose your containers and collections We have options for all premises whatever your space or access restrictions. We offer everything from business waste sacks (general waste only) to strong 240L or large 1280L bins.

You choose how often you want your waste collected. Our flexible range of services can collect more than weekly right down to seasonal collections only, depending on what you need.

2. Pick your payment option We’ve taken the hard work out of making payments, just choose the option that suits your business best. You can choose to pay by Direct Debit or make one off payments online on our website, via our automated telephone payment line, or even by a cheque in the post.

3. Meet your Duty of Care and guarantee legal compliance UK businesses are required by law to have a proper business waste collection in place as part of their Duty of Care. We’ve made sure our customers can do this easily by implementing simple, online waste transfer notes. With our unique status as a local authority service you can be confident that if you follow our waste transfer note advice you will be legally compliant.

Never use unregistered waste carriers because if they take away your waste and then fly tip it, you are legally responsible.

4. Manage your account in the way you prefer Whether you want to call us directly, request a call back or prefer to use our 24/7 online account management tool, the choice is yours.

Marketing opportunities As a local authority we are community led.

We take an interest in the businesses we serve and if you want to, we’ll get you involved in our marketing campaigns. Whether that’s going green and lighting up for recycle week or a simple snap of us collecting outside of your business, you can have as much or as little involvement as you want.

These sorts of community engagement campaigns help both you and us. We work on behalf of local people and like to show how we’re working together to build better communities.

Sponsorship and additional opportunities As a local authority commercial service, our roots are in the community, so we can offer more than just waste collections. As part of our business plan we like to create opportunities for our local communities and for the businesses we work with whether this is through partnerships, sponsorships or other opportunities.

Partnerships: We are more than happy to discuss ideas and partner up for projects with our business customers. For example, many of our business waste customers have taken on ownership of litter pick boards for their local communities and worked with us to roll out the project across the district. These projects sometimes involve monetary, organisational or marketing support from both parties and we will always try to assist our customers in achieving projects in their patch.

Sponsorships: Our biggest form of sponsorship comes in the arrangement of service swaps. This sort of sponsorship is usually most appropriate for sports clubs and stadiums, but tailored packages can also be created for any business type. We deliver your waste services in exchange for prominent marketing packages with your business, which could include sponsoring a board, stand or seating area as well as a partner-led marketing campaign around this.

Sponsorship and additional opportunities As a council we can also offer: Volunteering: We know that Corporate Social Responsibility is very important to many businesses and we’re happy to provide help and support to any of our customers who would like to take on local waste related projects, such as litter picking or a recycling event.

Education: We all have a duty to help educate the next generation about the environment, climate change, recycling and waste, so as part of our packages we can offer education sessions too.

Most often these are talks and activities in or developed for schools, but we are also more than happy to visit any business customers who might want to do some additional training with their staff on this subject. All we ask in exchange is that you promote this to your own customers or business colleagues.
