Bookstart
This is a six week course led by our Children and Family Centre Support Officers to support parents to explore the power of books and reading with their children.
Each week we explore a different book, all age appropriate for the Early Years, with fun activities for parents/carers to engage with, with their children. These sessions aim to support parents to understand the importance of books at a young age, feel more confident in their ability to engage in books with their children and provide the space and opportunity for families to explore books together.
These sessions will highlight how literacy can support all areas of baby and child development, and each family will have a book to take home and start building their own library and love for books.

“FEEL MORE IN CONTROL OF MY BIRTH”
Planning for a Positive Birth
Prepare for a positive birth experience! You’ll work through any fear and anxiety surrounding birth and instead feel calm, confident and in control.
You'll receive a toolkit of hypnobirthing techniques to use during birth including relaxation scripts, audios, anchors, visualisation, breathing and mindfulness techniques. Understand your body, the hormones involved in birth and what’ s happening at every stage. It will show you how to make any decisions required during the process and the role of birth partner.
“Created a more positive outlook on birth and made it much less intimidating. The course has 100% changed the way I feel about birth. I didn't have many expectations and came in with an open mind.
I’m definitely glad I came and learnt about hypnobirthing”.
“Thank you for the last 6 weeks. I have really enjoyed it. Learning about the techniques and also knowing my choices. It made me feel prepared and empowered for birth”.
