Issue 6 seems to be on the right track, at least its out on a some what timely basis, but hey its a free mag. Think of all the trees that are saved by having the magazine available online for free. Well as we do our small part to keep our environmental impact to a minimum, if and when we do make print issues, its on good ol’ recycled paper. That’s the theory at least to cover for my laziness to print up some more issues down in the garage. Still looking for the free printing press to come up on craigslist.

Another day, another project.

S.T.S. ( scam the system)- Free car wash’s???? Well some gas stations have those small drive through car washes. Not to much to this scam, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Make sure it is a car wash that has a place to enter a code when you make a payment. Enter the address of the place or the zip code it is in. If the address works, then bam, free car washes until somebody figures it out. A few local car washes got so popular that there were times the line when out to the street. Good Luck - Id even try to walk up and see if the code works with out getting stuck paying for the wash if you cant get the code working.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Jason C. Waite Civil Rights Activist & United Aid Founder 903.739.9102 jason_waite3@yahoo.com “Hot Springs’ 6” Skateboard Supporters Turn Up the Sustained Heat This Friday Hot Springs AR— This week Friday September 21 (International Peace Day & Call To Action) and October 22 (National Anti-Police Brutality Day) I myself and several supporters will be protesting in mass in down town Hot Springs 5:00pm- location where Jarrod Graham, one of the Hot Springs 6, was allegedly choked on video camera and captured with photographs. I will also be symbolically and illegally riding a skateboard in the spot where the youths were involved with Officer Joey Williams. We as a large group will then walk to the Hot Springs Police Department to voice our concerns, petitions our grievances, and protest there as well. We have announced these strategic actions and other actions as a long term peaceful campaign that will last at least till June 21st 2008- the one year anniversary of Go Skateboarding Day and the day the youths were involved in the incidence with Officer Joey Williams.. In addition, we the supporters are calling for the re-investigation of Officer Joey Williams and believe his treatment of the “Hot Springs 6” excessive, not to mention, that the investigative panel was indeed illegitimate, unjust, and a direct conflict of interest. We have initiated this powerful sustained protest via the Internet and will continue to raise awareness to the events that took place June 21st 2007 between Officer Joey Williams and the Hot Springs youths. We will NOT stop. Darkest Hour by Bryan Ott How do you follow up an album like Undoing Ruin? You don’t. You can’t. Very few bands have been able to match, let alone improve upon, a masterpiece. Darkest Hour is no different. But yet the Washington D.C.’s quintet’s latest effort, Deliver Us, does not necessarily miss the mark either. The sound of Undoing Ruin is maintained. You still have fantastic leads and the aggression is still there making any Scandinavian metal band jealous. Where this album falls short of matching Undoing Ruin is an album almost completely full of first rate

quality songs (which is next to impossible to do in the first place). To explain, where Undoing Ruin was full of 9’s and 10’s, Deliver Us is more evenly split between 9’s and 10’s and also 7’s and 8’s. So Deliver Us is not necessarily a step backwards, it is just a more realistic, normal album. I could never get into Darkest Hour’s older material, but some how on Undoing Ruin they pulled out an unparalleled gem (it is in my top 10 albums of all time) and basically I am doing Deliver Us a disservice by comparing it to Undoing Ruin, but everyone always compares a band’s latest album to their previous album, and especially their best album. So in that sense I am just giving you what you expect in a review. Five of the tracks from Deliver Us (Doomsayer, Demons(s), A Paradox with Flies, Fire in the Skies, and Deliver Us) stand toe to toe with the tracks on Undoing Ruin. Besides “The Light at the End of the World” (which isn’t really a track, clocking in at about 1:42, interrupting the feel and flow of the album and, imho, would have been better left off the album) all the tracks found on Deliver Us are better than “District Divided” found on Undoing Ruin. John Henry takes more liberties with the vocals on this latest album, introducing more clean vocals we first heard on Undoing Ruin’s “Convalescence”. But don’t despair ye faithful, the distinct metalcore growl of Darkest Hour is prominent throughout the entire album. They don’t sell out like Soilwork in this department and ruin the band. Their use of the clean vocals do work (Henry’s voice aint that bad) but it has been a stylistic cliche in death metal now for a while. Stick with the growls (Callenish Circle used 3 or 4 vocal stylings yet never reverted to using the clean vocals). The tracks on Deliver Us show an expanding musicianship and a willing challenge to themselves to create catchy, memorable riffs and introduce more of the progressive, melodic stylings of the Swedish death metal scene, thus at the same time distancing themselves from their metalcore roots. But you still have the straightforward death metal tracks, like “Fire in the Skies”, “Stand and Receive Your Judgement” and “Full Imperial Collapse”. The bookend tracks reminded me of Metallica’s opus “Master of Puppets” in that the opening track has a mellow guitar intro then becomes a crusher and the closer on the album finishes you off in true head banging fashion. Deliver Us does deliever, so with all being said, if you enjoyed Undoing Ruin, you will like Deliver Us too.

at one point because the pigs game and just eye fuck us and took off. The next morning we leave for Oregon and stopped at Shasta Lake and went to some rock jump that was tight. We get up there and skate Ashland Skatepark. Park is little but it a sick park. We were surprised to have some local cop tell us to but a helmet on. We hit up our camp site rite by a tight river by Grants Pass. We go out to a super Wall Mart and talk to some old guy working the hunting section. We ask him what bait we should use to catch some fishes. He just told us it was illegal and they will give a fat ticket if you got caught. Then he starts to talk about how he get some the girls to come in the back and porks them, this dude was fucking weird but some funny ass old man. The next morning we wake up and skate Grants Pass for a little and later hit up Medford. We skate for a good thirty helmets and get kicked out. So we go to Talent and shred that park and just watch little kids talk shit on us. So we just snaked the shit out of them and cut them off left and right grinding all up in there grills. We go back to camp and just made bets on the looser of a simple uno game. We got Kody F to jump in the cold ass river naked and to lick the license plate that was field will bugs on the road. Then there was Paco taking a shot of ketchup and rope

We head out like a feudist at one in the morning and shred Ripon skatepark on the first stop. We skate till noon and went to some river to fish and we count nothing. All it was good for is swimming and a shitter for Kody D. We then hit up Granite Skatepark and it was to hot to even skate. So we just go to the camp site and stayed there. Then the next day we skated Granite Skatepark and it was to hot to even skate. So we just went to Target and bought pool rafts and floated own the American River to kill time. Later in the afternoon we go to Granite to skate and that park is fucking big. There is a lot things to skate there, big shit down to little shit. Of course we had to stop

string into the river commando status. And that water was pretty fucking cold. Next day we make a trip to Klamath Falls and that park was so fun. It has some crazy shit up there. It was worth paying the nannies one dollar to skate and ware just a helmet. That same day we packed up and drive down to San Francisco. On the way down Shawn get pulled of for speeding and the high way patrol luckily gives him a big cut and yet Shawn dumb ass had to throw a fit and punch the car roof in front of the cop. We

Paco back d at third and army. The shot is not only highlighted by the sunset and piss yellow wheels paco is riding, but the fact Billy looks like he is smoking crack in the back ground. got lucky that the cop didn’t change his mind on giving him a cut. So we have Billy drive some of the way to San Francisco and we got a big relief from all the tail gating every car that was in front of us from Shawn’s driving. We get to a town across the bay from San Francisco called Sausalito. We stay at Kody F’s grandma’s house and get treaded like rich kids. She took us to nice ass restaurants, shopping for any food possible and a helicopter ride around the city and under the Golden Gate Bridge. We go out around the bay and skate a lot of the skate parks n the area. We skated, San Rafael, Berkley, Sunnyvale, and Pacifica skateparks. Next morning we hit up third and Army right after that jersey barrier spot that I don’t even know the name of. On the way home we stopped at Santa Cruz skatepark and got to skate with Steve Caballero. Then came the long way home watching Shawn drive like a mad man.

Catching wind of a new spot works out rad when you get to hit it, but can put the bug back in the depths ticking away like a time bomb, wanting so bad to get that spot when it doesnt work out. This ramp is one of those spots. Heard about it through the grapevine and when a session finally was set to go, the best swell in the last 10 months shows up and everybody is over the session and out the door. The ramp it’s self is aout 40 ft wide, 7ft tall with 8 ft extensions. The ramp was built professionally and its about as good as it gets. Thanks to Donaldson and his family for the sessions and hospitality. Classic Grosso, Invert in the backwoods.

187 Knee Pads - Don’t normally rock knee pads unless I’m flailing around the bottom of a vert ramp. If your gonna suffer the comments about being a padded whatever, might as well use these because they are pretty rad. They slide super fast and don’t fall off. Feel good and are pretty light for the amount of padding. Compared to the red and yellow rectors collecting dust in the garage, these are like Cadillacs. The187.com- RMG

The House of Kasai - Got to ride the 8 inch Kasai board and it was good to go. Super stiff, decent concave, and a killer Corey Miller graphic on the bottom. www.myspace.com/ lesterkasai - RMG

The newest release from McRad was a CD I was stoked to come up on a copy of. Always a sucker for weakness and a good skate, this album does not disappoint. Drivey riffs with a little Bad Brains flavor give it a rating of worth a listen. Check them out online at chucktreece.com or myspace.com/mcradbandBand The members of McRad are Chuck Treece, Dave Woodman, Steve Zegray, and Branden King. - RMG

The newest issue of Lowcard is definitely as good as usual for the lowcard dept. As with most issues of Lowcard, it will remain around the toilet reading stash for quite some time providing many a read. LOWCARD is a skateboard magazine. Send $3 to P.O. Oakley Gas Cans - The polarized ones arrived at the door and provided exactly what you would think from Oakley, a sick pair of shades. You can even get them with MP3 players built in if that’s your thing. Too bad they cant make a pair of shades that when your wearing them you skate like Tyler Hendley. Oakley.com for more information. - RMG

SkullCandy Headphones - The Hesh Model - Was so stoked to get these cause my ipod’s current set up had seen better days. The model was the hesh and looked like some heavy duty ear destoyers. They have leather padding on the ears so if you really skate a lot in these they may get nasty, but for the road trip - epic. The sound is really good and will make your stock ipod headphones cower. Check them online at skullcandy.com - RMG

Paying in Pain - Issue 22 - The cover shot alone is pretty ill and it stays good through out. Always good to see Lester getting some love. Joey has been doing this for a long time so definitely worth the check out. http://payinginpain.com

Top - has a funny story behind it. The kid was supposed to skateboard in this contest at the park and decided to warm up by snapping an Ollie from the vert wall to flat. He tried a few times and then broke his board and hurt his ankle so he was out of the contest, packed up and bailed.
