When choosing a business school, I didn’t want to just attend lectures I wanted real hands-on experience. I’ve had the opportunity to get involved at Goodman as the VP of Corporate Relations for the Business Students’ Association where I lead sponsorship initiatives and industry outreach. I also represented Goodman as a JDCC debate delegate securing second place in the tournament. These experiences gave me skills in public speaking and thinking critically. Overall Goodman gave me the space to explore, the support to grow and the experience I needed to decide what to do next.”

I chose this program due to its uniqueness. While the program may seem intimidating at first, due to the aspect of living abroad, luckily you start your journey in Canada and meet your peers you will be travelling with. Something that I loved about the program is the opportunity where you get to work in Canada and at your partner school. Where the true experience came in, is when you go to the partnering school. I personally had a six-month co-op where I worked as an accountant, and I was really able to connect with the people of Ireland and really gain an understanding of the work environment, how business works and what the differences were. These are all life skills you’ll gain that can’t quite be taught.”

Careers start here

At Goodman, we want to help you gain a competitive advantage by graduating with experience and career knowledge. An outstanding education is just the start, our learning environment extends beyond the classroom to provide you with every opportunity to build your skills and experiences to stand out from the crowd.

Experiential Education

Experiential education engages students in first-hand experiences in order to develop skills, clarify values, contribute to local and global communities, and make learning come alive.

Learn from the best

Brock has become a leader in experiential education in Canada and we pride ourselves on integrating experiences into your classroom activities. At Goodman, you’ll gain practical experiences by applying the skills and knowledge you learn from course content to projects with our community partners. You’ll earn course credit, while also building your resume and giving back to the community.

How it works

Taking the theories and concepts covered in class lectures, simulations, case studies, role playing and other teaching tools that our professors use to engage students, you and a small group of students will apply these learnings to solve real business problems for small and medium sized businesses, not-for-profit organizations and local institutional partners.

More than

Students of the Year

Experiential education is about more than applying classroom knowledge, it’s about creating real-world impact. Team Europe, a group of five students from Germany and Ireland, did exactly that. United by their international perspectives and shared passion for ethical business, the team collaborated with Remember MEdia, a start-up focused on supporting people living with dementia.

As part of a business ethics experiential-learning project, Carlos, Jakob, Laurenz, Kathryn, and Luisa worked directly with founder Jessica Grabell to shape the foundation of the company. They developed mission, vision, and values rooted in dignity, compassion, and community – helping ensure that the business remained purpose-driven as it grew.

Their work went far beyond the classroom. With professionalism, insight, and cross-cultural collaboration, the team delivered strategies that are now helping guide the early launch of MemoraCare Technologies Inc., a new tech platform for memory support and connection.

Their success shows the power of experiential learning to not only build skills and apply classroom knowledge, but to also drive meaningful change in the community.

The co-op advantage

Co-op experiences at Brock are hands-on, high-quality paid educational experiences that are designed to provide you exposure to real-world employment environments.

Structured co-op career programming sets you up for work term success by allowing you to explore career possibilities, discover your interests, gain new skills and build upon existing competencies all while developing key industry contacts. This mandatory professional preparation course will help you learn about the industry sectors that you are interested in.

Your work term enriches your studies by giving you a chance to apply the knowledge and skills you develop in the classroom. Every co-op position is evaluated for academic relevance and meaningful work to ensure the best environment to learn and develop your skills.

Goodman is the first business school in Canada to form a co-op partnership with the United Nations Association in Canada (UNA-Canada). Students can work in any country with a United Nations agency on an eight-month economic development coop work term while receiving up to $1,000 from Brock’s Co-op Education office and an additional $8,000 in financial support from the School through a gift received from the Goodman Family Foundation in 2012.

Students work as junior professional consultants in a specific area of business, including business analytics, finance, accounting, strategic communications and international trade, while also contributing in meaningful ways beyond the boardroom.

Solving smarter: How co-op sparked data-driven impact

At Equinix, Michelle Yang didn’t just contribute, she transformed how her team worked. By developing a streamlined performance data, she cut hours of manual reporting and empowered leadership to make real-time, data-driven decisions.

Working as a Reporting and Analytics Intern at global digital infrastructure company Equinix, the fourth-year Business Administration student quickly identified inefficiencies in how performance data was gathered and used.

What followed was a game-changing solution: a centralized reporting dashboard that integrated data from multiple sources, drastically reducing the time spent creating reports and giving leadership access to real-time insights. Her work directly shaped how the team made decisions and streamlined dayto-day operations across departments.

But Michelle’s impact didn’t stop at analytics. Working on a global team, she adapted quickly to new technologies and corporate systems, and stepped into leadership roles usually reserved for full-time staff. She helped onboard new employees, led knowledge-sharing sessions, and even launched the Intern Connect program a new platform to support intern development and networking across the company.

From campus leader to career builder

For Bill Huynh, a career in student engagement wasn’t just a goal, it was a natural extension of the impact he made during his time at Goodman. Now working full-time as an External Student Relations Specialist at BMO in Toronto, Bill leads external campus programming, hosting virtual workshops, and supporting the next generation of talent across Canada and the U.S.

Bill immersed himself in student life from day one, getting involved in clubs, case competitions and leadership conferences that helped shape his skills and career direction. As Vice-President of Student Engagement with the Brock Business Students’ Association, he launched networking events and charitable initiatives like the Goodman Gala and Toy Drive, leaving a lasting mark on student culture.

His passion for mentorship carried through to his co-op placements, where he combined his marketing major with roles in campus recruitment and employer branding laying the groundwork for his career.

Today, Bill is building the same kinds of meaningful opportunities he once benefited from, using his experience and leadership to support the next generation of students entering the workforce and is providing meaningful engagement opportunities for thousands of students annually.

From September to January, team members go through intensive training to prepare. But it’s not just about competing, the JDCC team also takes part in local and national charity initiatives and volunteer work throughout the year.

Applying to Brock

Step 1: Select a program

After exploring your options at Brock, select the program you wish to pursue.

Applying to multiple Brock programs?

Brock has a one-offer policy, which means that you can expect to receive and hold an offer of admission to only ONE Brock program at a time. When more than one Brock program is indicated on the application, the highest choice listed for Brock will be considered first. If you are not eligible for your first choice, we will consider your subsequent choices (in the order of preference you have indicated). If you apply to only one Brock program and do not qualify, in most cases consideration will be given for an alternate and related program.

If you apply for but are not admitted to a co-op program, you will be considered automatically for the regular non-co-op program (if you have not included a second choice on the application).

Step 2: Review admission criteria

Admission information will vary depending on what type of applicant you are.

Ontario secondary school applicants should refer to the admission chart found on pages 80-85 for specific criteria required for each program. Your six highest 4U or 4M grades, including prerequisite subjects, will be included in the calculation of your final admission average. Please note: a co-op credit cannot be used as one of your 6 4U or 4M credits.

All other applicants should use this information as a guideline to determine the prerequisite courses for each program. Equivalent courses may be considered. Refer to the following pages in this book for additional information related to your specific applicant type. Visit brocku.ca/admissions/undergraduate for more information.

Indigenous students, don’t forget to self-identify!

You may self-identify on your OUAC application or within your Brock student profile after you have applied. Self-identifying will allow you to access numerous services and supports at Brock, specifically tailored for our First Nations, Métis and Inuit students.

Step 3: Choose your application

Most students applying to Brock will apply via the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) at ouac.on.ca
