Dr. Abeer Haddad
BA ’04, MBA ’06
Abeer Haddad is a highly skilled education leader and project manager with over 16 years of experience in the education sector, specializing in academic quality assurance, accreditation, and program management. Currently serving as a Project Manager for Talent Enablement at the Department of Education and Knowledge in Abu Dhabi, she leads quality assurance for scholarship programs that foster educational growth for university students through strategic partnerships and enrichment initiatives. Haddad has previously held managerial roles in support services and communications, where she played a key role in aligning academic standards with international benchmarks, securing accreditations, and promoting institutional excellence.
Dr. Adam Shoalts BA ’09
Adam Shoalts embodies the spirit of exploration and intellectual curiosity. Since graduating in 2009, he has become one of Canada’s greatest modern-day adventurers, known for his expeditions across the northern wilderness. Shoalts furthered his academic pursuits with a master’s and PhD from McMaster University and has authored six national best-sellers. His notable works include Where the Falcon Flies and The Whisper on the Night Wind. Recognized internationally, Shoalts’ contributions to exploration, literature, and environmental conservation have earned him numerous accolades.
Alfred Grigg BRLS ’96
Alfred Grigg is a dedicated educator and innovator in Recreation and Leisure Services with over 30 years of experience. As a faculty member at Seneca College, he taught and inspired hundreds of students, developing innovative programs and resources, including the “Wild and Wacky” article space. Alfred is also a pioneer in facilitation, recognized as one of Canada’s first Certified Professional Facilitators. His volunteer leadership with associations like CIRA and OCA has earned him multiple awards, including an Honorary Life Membership. Alfred continues to impact the community and enhance education through his YouTube channel, promoting creative teaching methods.
Dr. Andreas Flouris MSc ’04
Dr. Andreas Flouris is a Professor at the University of Thessaly in Greece and an Adjunct Professor in Environmental Medicine at the University of Ottawa. After earning his MSc in clinical epidemiology at Brock, he completed a PhD at Dalhousie University. Andreas is a leading environmental physiologist, advising governments and organizations like the WHO and the International Labor Organization. With over 300 publications and more than €18 million in funding, he translates scientific evidence into policy. Recognized in TIME Magazine’s Next 100 List for 2023, he advocates for sustainable workplace practices amid the climate crisis.




Andrew Tinnish BRLS ’99, BSM ’01
Andrew Tinnish, VP of International Scouting for the Toronto Blue Jays, began his career in scouting after reaching out to former coach and scout Kevin Briand in 1999. Starting with instructional clinics and tryout camps, Tinnish’s passion for scouting grew. He joined the Blue Jays in 2001, attended MLB’s scout school in 2002, and became an area scout. Over the years, Tinnish has held various roles, culminating in his current position, where he continues to shape the team’s international scouting efforts.
Anna Bozza BA ’96
Anna Bozza has dedicated over 30 years to children, youth, and families’ wellbeing. She holds degrees from Brock, York, and the University of Toronto. Beginning at the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto, she returned to Niagara in 1992, becoming FACS Niagara’s first female Executive Director in 2016. Her leadership fosters collaboration, strengthening services for vulnerable youth and families. She helped develop a highly regarded collaborative service model for Indigenous communities. At any time, 600+ families rely on FACS’ 100+ volunteers, 100+ foster parents, and 300+ staff for ongoing support.
Dr. Brad Inwood BA ’74
Dr. Brad Inwood is the William Lampson Professor of Philosophy and Classics at Yale, after teaching at the University of Toronto for over three decades, where he had earned his MA and PhD. He was elected to the Royal Society of Canada and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, served as a Canada Research Chair, has published 12 books and over 60 articles. A leading scholar in Stoicism and preSocratic philosophy, Brad has mentored 80+ doctoral students and remains deeply connected to Canada.
Brittany Straitton BBA ’09
A graduate of Brock University’s Goodman School of Business, Straitton has found success at Canadian Tire Corporation (CTC). From roles in category management to her current position as Vice-President of Forecasting, Replenishment, and Planning, she leads a team of over 150 people to ensure the timely and accurate flow of goods for CTR’s $11-billion operation. Passionate about diversity and inclusion, Straitton co-founded CTC’s Families Employee Resource Group. She was recently named to Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 list by Women’s Executive Network (WXN), recognizing her leadership and advocacy.




Bryceson Dodge BBA ’08, MBA ’10
Bryceson Dodge has been a dedicated supporter of Brock University’s Goodman School of Business, taking on leadership roles with the Business Students’ Association, Graduate Business Council and as Chair of the Goodman Alumni Network. His contributions helped shape these organizations for future success. Professionally, Dodge spent seven years at RBC, rising from Branch Manager to Director of Commercial Real Estate. He is now Vice President of Operations at Empirical Capital Corp. Additionally, Dodge co-founded NorthStar Startups, a nonprofit supporting economic stability through self-employment in Scarborough’s diverse communities.
Chris Shewfelt BSM ’02
Chris Shewfelt, a 2002 graduate of Brock University’s Sport Management program, has been a key figure in both the growth of the program and the Canadian sport industry. Starting as an engaged student, he became one of the first to intern with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE), eventually rising to Vice President, Business Operations for Toronto FC and the Toronto Argonauts. Shewfelt has played a pivotal role in driving business strategy, including leadership during the MLS and Grey Cup victories and currently preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He actively mentors, serves on multiple boards, and has been a key contributor to curriculum development at Brock. Recognized for his contributions, he was named a 2015 “5 to Watch” award winner in Canadian sports business.
Dr. Christina Le Rose BA ’07, BEd ’10
Christina Le Rose is an award-winning classical pianist, educator, and advocate for the arts in education. By the age of 29, she earned four university degrees on full scholarship, including a Doctor of Music from the University of Alberta and two degrees from Brock University. A celebrated performer, Le Rose has toured internationally and given hundreds of free concerts across Canada. She has taught at various levels, including at Brock’s Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts. Le Rose’s contributions have earned her multiple awards, including the Brock University Distinguished Alumni Award and the Niagara 40 Under 40 Business Achievement Award.
Craig Worden BA ’93, MA ’99
Craig Worden is a highly accomplished pollster and President of Pollara Strategic Insights, one of Canada’s leading public opinion and market research firms. With over 25 years in the research industry, Worden has founded public affairs research practices at numerous firms, and been a strategic advisor to numerous governments, businesses, not-for-profits, and election campaigns. A graduate of Brock University and Carleton University, he is renowned for his work in developing innovative research models, and is a frequent media commentator on current affairs, politics, and research techniques.




Darren Brenner BSc ’06, MSc ’08
Dr. Darren Brenner is a national leader in cancer research, public health, and early cancer detection. As an Associate Professor at the University of Calgary, he has published over 250 peer-reviewed articles, multiple national reports and led impactful research on cancer prevention and screening. Dr. Brenner’s contributions to cancer control, public health policy, and mentorship embody the passion and determination of Brock graduates.
David Grimes BSc ’75
David Grimes was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2020 for his exceptional leadership in meteorology and climate change. Serving as President of the United Nations’ World Meteorological Organization from 2011 to 2019, Grimes’ visionary contributions and commitment were pivotal in bringing focus to the rapidly changing arctic and advancing international climate and disaster-risk preparedness strategies, solidifying his legacy as a leader in the field.
Dr. Deborah Rosati BBA ’84, LLD ’23
Deborah Rosati is the Founder & CEO of Women Get On Board Inc., dedicated to advancing women in leadership and the boardroom. With a successful career spanning the tech sector and venture capital, she has served on numerous corporate and nonprofit boards. A trailblazer and mentor, Rosati champions women’s economic empowerment and elevates their voices through education, mentorship, and advocacy. With over 950 members, she continues to inspire and empower women to make a meaningful impact in governance and beyond.
Dennis Hull BA ’81
Dennis Hull is a hockey legend with a distinguished 14-season NHL career. He spent 13 years with the Chicago Black Hawks and one with the Detroit Red Wings, playing over 1,000 games. Known for his powerful shot, Dennis’ skill was often compared to that of his brother, Bobby. He also represented Canada in the iconic 1972 Summit Series, contributing to Canada’s victory over the Soviet Union. Dennis Hull’s career remains a testament to his talent, determination, and significant impact on the sport of hockey.




Dr. Elisabeth Walker-Young BPhEd ’02, LLD ’22
Elisabeth Walker-Young is a Paralympic swimming champion, winning six medals— three gold, one silver, and two bronze—across four Games. A record-breaker in Canadian and world swimming, she retired in 2005 after 13 years with Canada’s Paralympic team. Elisabeth transitioned to leadership roles, serving as Team Canada’s Chef de Mission for the 2015 Parapan American Games and Assistant Chef de Mission for the 2012 Paralympics. A tireless advocate for inclusion, accessibility, disability justice and anti-ableism, her work began in sport but now reaches far beyond it. She was named to the Order of Canada in 2018.
Emily Kovacs BA ’98
Emily Kovacs is a dedicated leader with a distinguished 19-year career in Toronto’s Homeless Sector. Her academic work focused on immigrant motivation and achievement. Emily has managed large-scale shelter infrastructure projects and played a key role in health care system redesign and inter-agency collaboration. She became CEO of Bridges Niagara, formerly Niagara Folk Arts Multicultural Centre in 2018, bringing expertise in social services, legislation, and community support and she served there until May of this year. Currently she is back supporting The City of Toronto’s Refugee service system as Operations Manager overseeing over 30 sites.
Fitriya Mohamed BSM ’19, MA ’24
Fitriya is a passionate basketball player, mentor, and advocate for Muslim women in sports, dedicated to fostering inclusivity and empowerment. She made history in high school by becoming the first Muslim woman to win Female Athlete of the Year.
As the founder and Executive Director of the Muslim Women’s Summer Basketball League (MWSBL), she has united over 600 participants, providing a safe and empowering space for Muslim girls and women in sports. With a master’s degree in Sport Management from Brock University, Fitriya advocates for Muslim female athletes through media coverage, brand collaborations, and mentorship.
Dr. Guy Narbonne, FRSC BSc ’75
Dr. Guy Narbonne FRSC, is a leading expert on the origins of animal life 600 million years ago. Now a Research Chair at Queen’s University, his work has reshaped evolutionary science—designating the Ediacaran period, earning Discover Magazine’s top 100 scientific discoveries, and securing a Science Magazine cover. As Chief Scientist, he helped Mistaken Point become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Narbonne’s research has been featured in National Geographic and documentaries narrated by David Suzuki and Sir David Attenborough.




Dr. Ian Beddis
BSc ’68, LLD ’00
Dr. Ian Beddis is a ‘Silver Badger’ who graduated with an Honours Mathematics degree in 1968 followed by a masters degree from University of Western Ontario in Economics in 1969. At Brock he was the third president of BUSU from 1967 to 1968 and president of the Alumni Association from 1968 to 1978. He sat on the Board of Trustees from 1973 to 1979 and chaired Dr. Lightstone’s President’s advisory board in the 2000’s. He was recognized for his various contributions to Brock by receiving an honorary doctorate in 2000 and the first Distinguished Alumni Award in 2002. Ian had a successful 38-year business career as a wealth management executive and is the recipient of 2 Queen’s Jubilee awards.
Dr. Ian Brindle MSc ’72
Dr. Ian Brindle has made lasting contributions to the university and the scientific community. He began at Brock in 1972 and later served as Professor, Dean, and Vice President, Research. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and recipient of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal, he authored more than 100 research papers that describe his sensitive techniques for measuring toxic elements in water. Destiny Copper’s industrial process is based on his work. His leadership in creating the Roy and Lois Cairns Health and Bioscience Research Complex is a testament to his commitment to innovation and education.
James Antonio BBA ’09, MBA ’14
James Antonio is a leader in the financial services industry. Since his time at Brock, James has excelled in various roles at Meridian Credit Union. As Vice President of Transformation, he oversees significant projects impacting 800+ employees and 378,000+ members. His innovative work, particularly in digitization and financial accessibility, has helped to support Meridian’s growth. Antonio’s leadership fosters inclusivity, transparency, and economic sustainability, which has earned him Meridian’s Awards of Excellence.
Dr. Jason Ribeiro MEd ’15
Dr. Jason Ribeiro, a distinguished Brock alumnus, earned honours including the Spirit of Brock Medal and President’s Surgite Award. With degrees from McMaster, York, Brock, and a PhD from the University of Calgary, he became the youngest owner of a Canadian professional sports team, the Calgary Surge, at 33. Jason has secured record-breaking sponsorships, donated over $300,000 to charity, and logged hundreds of volunteer hours. He serves on multiple boards and advocates for lifelong learning and hiring Brock grads into leadership roles.




Jeff Dunbrack BPhEd ’03
Jeff Dunbrack has served as the High-Performance Director of Wheelchair Basketball Canada since 2017, marking his second tenure with the organization. Previously, he worked with Wheelchair Basketball Canada from 2006-2010, including three years as High-Performance Program Coordinator, and as team manager for Canada’s Paralympic silver medal-winning men’s wheelchair basketball team at the 2008 Beijing Games. Prior to his return to wheelchair basketball, Jeff was a lead coach with Rowing Canada, guiding the national para-rowing team to World Championship medals and a 2012 Paralympic Games appearance.
Honourable Jenna Sudds, PC BA ’01
The Honourable Jenna Sudds, PC has made significant contributions to her community and Canada. Before being elected to Federal Parliament in 2021, she founded TEDxKanata and the Ottawa Autonomous Vehicle Summit, founding executive director of the Kanata North Business Association. Elected to Ottawa City Council in 2018, she became Deputy Mayor in 2020. During her first term in office, she was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Women, Gender Equality & Youth. Later she served as Minister of Families, Children, and Social Development. Sudds is also a dedicated volunteer and community leader.
Jennifer Crean BBA ’91
Jennifer Crean is CEO of Crean Inc, a consulting company, founded in 2002, that accelerates solutions to complex engineering, production and supply chain issues for the aerospace & defense industry. The Crean Team of over 650 subject matter experts have worked on CelestNet, a lunar communication satellite constellation, JPL’s Mars Rover, and Boeing’s SLS, to name a few. Crean’s latest project is helping the Navy’s suppliers solve technical, quality, and operational challenges. Jennifer’s more than 25 years contributing to the aerospace industry and her leadership and innovation make her an example of a proud Brock graduate.
Jessica Lewis BRLS ’18
Jessica Lewis is a three-time Paralympian representing Bermuda in Para-athletics, and the current ParaPan Am Games record holder in the T53 100m. At the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, she finished 4th in the T53 100m final. A passionate advocate for the differently abled, Jessica raises awareness and challenges perceptions. She serves on the board of WindReach Bermuda and was VP of Brock’s ABLE student group. As a guest speaker, she shares her journey with Brock students, exemplifying the spirit of “Surgite” in all she does.




Jonathan Davey BA ’05
Jon Davey, Vice President, CEO Support at Scotiabank, is a leader and advocate for Indigenous communities in Canada. A proud member of the Lower Cayuga of the Six Nations of the Grand River, Davey bridges Indigenous nations and businesses with banking solutions that foster long-term prosperity. With experience as a Federal Crown and Special Advisor on Aboriginal Affairs, he has a strong commitment to governance and justice. Also a Captain in the Canadian Armed Forces, Davey was named to Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 for his contributions to finance, law, and community service.
Dr. Josh Clarke BSc ’18, PhD ’23
Dr. Josh Clarke has made significant contributions to sustainability in the copper industry. Earning a BSc in 2018 and a PhD in 2023, he was mentored by Professor Georgii Nikonov and later recruited by Professor Emeritus Dr. Ian Brindle as Lead Scientist at Destiny Copper. At Destiny Copper, Dr. Clarke drives innovation with low-energy solutions in copper production and recycling. His work reflects Brock’s commitment to developing leaders dedicated to environmental stewardship, inspiring future scientists and entrepreneurs to innovate responsibly.
Julia Dumanian BA ’85
Julia Dumanian is an accomplished healthcare executive with over 30 years of leadership in public, non-profit, and private sectors. As President & CEO of Canadian Hearing Services (CHS) since 2015, she has transformed the organization, driving it from financial deficits to a thriving global leader. Julia’s leadership has redefined opportunities for Deaf and hard of hearing Canadians, highlighted by CHS’s exemplary accreditation and the creation of the National Scholarship Program. Her vision for a barrier-free society and commitment to research innovation continue to inspire positive change in the field of hearing health.
Karen Brown BA ’91
Karen Brown made history in 2021 when she was elected the first Black president of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO), marking a milestone as the first Black president of any provincial teachers’ union in Canada. A passionate advocate for inclusion, equity, and gender equality in education, she has dedicated her career to representing the voices of all children. Brown’s leadership extends beyond the classroom, having served in various roles within ETFO and as VicePresident of the Elementary Teachers of Toronto. She has been recognized nationally for her contributions to social justice and education.




Dr. Kari-Lynn Winters
BA ’92
Dr. Winters is a celebrated Canadian author and educator, known for her over 33 award-winning books, including the beloved Jeffrey and Sloth. Her literary work has earned multiple accolades, including Silver Medals for the Christie Harris Illustrated Children’s Literature Prize and the 2009 Chocolate Lily Award. A passionate advocate for education, Dr. Winters also excelled academically, earning Canada’s top Master’s Research Award in 2005 for her thesis on using the arts to enhance reading comprehension. Her contributions continue to inspire and impact both children’s literature and education.
Kenneth Bi BA ’92
Kenneth Bi is a versatile director, producer, writer, and composer. He gained recognition with his 1992 CBC-Radio Drama Rice Krinkles and later worked on films like Slow Fade and The Longest Summer, both of which earned prestigious accolades. His screenplay for Rice Rhapsody won Outstanding Screenplay in 1999, and the film garnered international acclaim. His 2007 film The Drummer premiered at Sundance, making history as the first Hong Kong-Taiwan film selected for competition.
Kevin Magee BA ’14
Kevin Magee has had a distinguished career spanning entrepreneurship and technology leadership. After working multiple jobs to fund his education, Kevin’s time at Brock ignited his passion for history and technology, eventually leading him to the tech industry. He co-founded two companies before taking senior roles at Microsoft, Oracle, and HP. He was recently promoted to Global Director of Cybersecurity, Microsoft for Startups. Kevin is a recognized expert in cybersecurity. A dedicated volunteer, he mentors young professionals and serves as a Trustee at Brock, where he is deeply involved in student success and campus life.
Kevin Spratt BBA ’00
Kevin Spratt, president of Rich’s U.S.-Canada region, leads the company’s strategy for growth, innovation, and excellence. He oversees Foodservice, In-Store Bakery & Deli, Ingredients, Consumer Brands, Canada divisions, and Demand Creation teams. A Rich’s associate since 2001, he has held key leadership roles driving sales, business development, and go-to-market strategies. Promoted in 2022, he now directs all U.S.-Canada Business-to-Business divisions. He serves on major food industry boards and holds a BBA from Brock University, where he remains actively engaged.




Krystle Krasnaj
BSM ’06
Krystle Krasnaj has built a distinguished career at the National Hockey League (NHL). Over 18 years, she progressed through various roles in Partnership Marketing, culminating as Senior Director, where she managed a $20M+ portfolio of global partnerships. Her leadership in innovation and strategic partnership activation was pivotal in the NHL’s growth. In May 2024, Krystle joined the Vegas Golden Knights as Vice President, Global Partnership Activations. A recognized leader and mentor, Krystle exemplifies excellence in sport leadership.
Dr. Kyle Dubas BSM ’07, LLD ’23
Kyle Dubas, President of Hockey Operations and General Manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins, is a renowned Canadian ice hockey executive. A Brock University Sports Management graduate, Dubas began his career as a player agent before rising through the ranks with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and later the Toronto Maple Leafs. As GM, he led the Toronto Marlies to a Calder Cup win in 2018. Dubas became the NHL’s second youngest GM at 32, a testament to his leadership and strategic vision. His impact on the sport continues to grow as he shapes the future of the Penguins and the NHL.
Dr. Linda Crabtree BA ’87, LLD ’94
Dr. Linda Crabtree is an internationally recognized advocate for people with disabilities. She has been honoured with more than 20 national and worldwide awards. While studying at Brock University, she founded the university’s first accessibility committee. After graduation, Linda founded CMT International a hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy aka Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease (CMT). Then dedicating her work to supporting those living with the disease, by publishing the CMT Newsletter for more than 10 years, bringing aboard those medically and scholarly interested. She squeezed in the time to write her autobiography, CMT and Me. Linda’s advocacy, and volunteerism continue to inspire, making her a true exemplar of Brock’s values.
Magdalena Kaiser BA ’92
Magdalena Kaiser is a Niagara-based wine and gastronomy expert with over 40 years of experience in Canadian wine. She grew up in the vineyards of Inniskillin Wines, bottling alongside her father, co-founder Karl Kaiser, by the age of five. Certified by WSET and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, she champions wines that reflect a sense of place. For over 15 years, she led efforts to elevate Ontario VQA wines on the global stage, positioning the region as a leading wine and culinary destination. A judge at the Decanter World Wine Awards and Canada’s Regional Ambassador for the Old Vine Conference, Magdalena is recognized as a global leader in wine, culinary and tourism marketing. Niagara Wine + Food, her first book, will launch in May 2026.




Dr. Maureen Carroll BA ’75
Dr. Maureen Carroll, a leading Roman archaeology expert with 39 years of experience, has conducted research and fieldwork across the UK, Europe, Canada, the U.S., Cyprus, and North Africa. A Brock University graduate, she earned her PhD from Indiana University and the Free University of Berlin. She has taught at York and Cologne, directed field schools, and authored 120 publications. Her influential work on Roman funerary practices, childhood, and identity has earned international recognition. She leads a major AHRC-funded project on Roman burials in York.
Meghan Chayka BBA ’12
Meghan Chayka is the co-founder of Stathletes, a cutting-edge sports analytics company revolutionizing player performance data for hockey teams and affiliates. With a background in science and finance, she has been integral to the company’s growth, helping it expand from a small startup to a multimillion-dollar business with a global reach. Focused on aggressive expansion, she aims to leverage innovative technologies to grow the company further. A non-linear path fueled by passion and determination, Meghan continues to challenge conventional career expectations, especially for women in business.
Mike Pilato BAcc ’98
Mike Pilato is President and CEO of Jamieson Wellness, a global leader in natural health products. An experienced consumer goods executive, Mike is known for cultivating high-performing teams that consistently drive business growth. His values-based approach to business and leadership style rooted in community and collaboration create positive and engaging workplace cultures. A recipient of the Brock University Alumni Brilliance Award, Mike traces the foundation of his success to the relationships and teamwork fostered during his time at Brock.
Dr. Narine Dat Sookram ADEC ’14, BEd ’21
Dr. Narine Dat Sookram is an independent scientist, a dedicated social worker, educator, and advocate with extensive experience in employment services, mental health, and policy development. He holds a Bachelor of Education in Adult Education from Brock University and a Doctor of Social Work from Capella University and has spent over three decades advancing workplace equity, supporting marginalized communities, and promoting inclusive hiring practices. His initiatives have provided vital resources to underprivileged groups, ensuring meaningful access to employment and mental health services.




Dr. Omer Refa Koseoglu MSc ’82
Dr. Omer Refa Koseoglu is the Founder & Chief Technology Officer at Technology Innovation Farms LLC, a start-up specializing in refining, petrochemicals, sustainability, and AI. With over 38 years of experience in the refining industry, Dr. Koseoglu’s expertise spans catalyst/process development, hydrogen production, plastic conversion, commercial unit monitoring, and software development. He previously served as Principal Scientist at Saudi Aramco R&D Center. Dr. Koseoglu holds a BSc (Gazi), MSc (Brock), and PhD (Toronto) in chemical engineering. He is the inventor for over 1,270 international patents including 372 US patents and has developed and deployed several commercial products, earning prestigious awards like the Catalysis Society of Japan Technology Advancement Award.
Ornella Marinic BA ’08
Ornella Marinic is the co-founder of Femme International and a champion for gender equity and empowerment. After graduating from Brock, she taught in Japan and traveled across Southeast Asia, where she was inspired to pursue a career in International Development. While working on a project in Kenya, Marinic identified the critical issue of menstrual health inequity and founded Femme International, which has since supported over 16,000 individuals in Kenya and Tanzania. She was awarded the 2024 Meritorious Service Cross by the Governor General of Canada. Now a Registered Nurse and received her Master of Social Work, Marinic continues to advocate for women’s mental health, policy development, and social change
Paul Hubley BSc ’91
Paul Hubley, P.Geo., is a recognized leader in professional environmental geoscience, with a 35+ year career dedicated to solving environmental challenges. As Principal and Senior Geoscientist at Hubley Geosciences Limited, he has consulted on over 1,500 projects across Canada. Hubley has provided expert testimony in court and tribunal hearings and has made significant contributions to property contamination, risk management, sustainability and geoscience outreach. He served as President of Professional Geoscientists Ontario (2021) and currently serves as CEO of Geoscientists Canada. Paul is deeply committed to Indigenous community water issues and creating links between geoscience and Truth and Reconciliation Committee calls to action.
Rhonda Klosler BBA ’93
Rhonda Klosler, COO of RSM Canada, has been instrumental in the firm’s rapid growth, quadrupling revenue, and workforce in seven years. As Eastern Canada market leader, she drives expansion while fostering culture and talent engagement. A CPA and Harvard executive leadership graduate, she champions mentoring, diversity, and community involvement. She advises RSM’s global initiatives and chairs Junior Achievement Central Ontario. Recognized for her leadership, she was named a CPA Ontario Fellow (2021) and received the 2022 Goodman Distinguished Graduate Award from Brock.




Rick Campanelli BPhEd ’94
Rick Campanelli is a Canadian television personality and philanthropist, best known for his long tenure as a video jockey on MuchMusic, where he was affectionately known as “Rick the Temp” and later “The Franchise.” After leaving MuchMusic in 2005, he joined ET Canada as a reporter and co-hosted Canada’s Case Game on Deal or No Deal Canada. Campanelli is involved with various charitable organizations including World Vision Canada, SickKids and Food4Kids and has hosted events like the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative. In 2021, he co-hosted the 90’s Nostalgia tour and competed on The Traitors Canada in 2023.
Scott Regehr BA ’96
Scott Regehr, a veteran CBC Radio personality, has made significant contributions to sports journalism over his acclaimed career. As the host of CBC’s Olympic Games Report during the 2018 Winter Olympics, Regehr covered his fifth Olympic Games, showcasing his long-standing commitment to sports broadcasting. Since joining CBC in 1999, Regehr has held roles as a reporter, host, and associate producer, covering major events like FIFA World Cups and the 2007 U-20 World Cup. An accomplished author, Regehr holds a BA in History from Brock University and continues to engage in competitive sports and global reporting.
Shashank Upadhye BSc ’91, BA ’92
Shashank Upadhye is a globally recognized leader in pharmaceutical patent and FDA law, with over 30 years of experience. He earned his BSc and BA from Brock University and later pursued his law degrees in the USA. Upadhye is the author of Generic Pharmaceutical Patent and FDA Law (16th edition), has published over 100 articles, and presented at over 125 conferences. He has held senior roles at major law firms and as Chief IP/FDA Counsel for global pharma companies in the US, Canada, and Europe, including for Novartis/Sandoz and Apotex in Toronto. Passionate about community service, he mentors boy scouts, is involved in youth hockey officiating, and supports Brock University through membership on the Brock Board.
Shauna Bookal BSM ’05
Since graduating from Brock University’s Sport Management program in 2005, Shauna has been a trailblazer for diversity in Canadian amateur sports. In 2023, after years of advocacy, Bookal launched the Diversity in Sports Conference, the first of its kind in Canada, focused on promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in sports. As the founder of the Inclusion in Canadian Sports Network (ICSN), Bookal champions initiatives such as the Anti-Racism in Sports Toolkit and Emerging Leaders programs. With numerous awards and national committee roles, Shauna is dedicated to reshaping sports to be more inclusive for BIPOC communities.




Shiraz Mottiar
BSc ’00
Shiraz Mottiar, has had a remarkable career in the wine industry. As a pioneer in Icewine research, his work on acetic acid production led to key changes in VQA regulations, bolstering Canada’s leadership in Icewine production. After graduating in 2000, Shiraz became Winemaker at Malivoire Wine Company, later earning accolades like Quench Magazine’s Winemaker of the Year. Now Team Principal & GM, he champions sustainability and mentors future leaders, demonstrating Brock’s values through his hands-on approach and industry leadership. Shiraz currently sits on the Ontario Wine Appellation Authority Board of Directors.
Stephanie Bilek BSc ’09
A graduate of Brock’s Oenology and Viticulture program, Stephanie has made significant contributions to Niagara’s grape and tender fruit industries. Early in her career, she worked at Vineland Research Station, preserving its unique grapevine collection, and later led the impactful “VineAlert” project at Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI), providing vital winter cold injury warnings for local grape growers. Stephanie’s mentorship of students further amplified her impact on both Brock and the industry. Now with Brewster Consulting, she supports local farmers and has successfully transitioned VineAlert to an industry-led initiative. Stephen Remus BA ’93
Stephen Remus has been a driving force in St. Catharines’ arts scene for over 20 years as Minister of Energy, Minds, and Resources at the Niagara Artists Centre (NAC). He has mentored countless artists, expanded NAC’s footprint, and founded the Mighty Niagara Film Fest. His ‘Homecoming Series’ reconnects successful Niagara artists with the community. He is currently working to develop a creative hub with a makerspace and film venue, securing St. Catharines’ role as a cultural centre. A tireless arts advocate, he bridges artists, businesses, and the broader community.
Tonya Verbeek BRLS ’00, BEd ’03, MEd ’06
Tonya Verbeek, Canada’s most decorated wrestler, is a three-time Olympian and medalist in freestyle wrestling at 55kg. She made history in 2004 as Canada’s first female Olympic wrestling medallist, earning silver in Athens, followed by bronze in Beijing (2008) and silver in London (2012). A Brock University graduate, she has spent nearly two decades coaching, mentoring, and shaping Canadian wrestling. She served as Senior Manager of Sport for the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games and was inducted into the St. Catharines Sports Hall of Fame (2019) and Brock University Hall of Fame (2025).

Vincent Meehan BA ’83, MBA ’16
Vincent Meehan is a remarkable leader whose legacy at Brock University and beyond reflects his commitment to care, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and mentorship. Over a distinguished career with Sodexo, Vincent rose from catering manager to VP of IS&T for Canada, leaving a lasting impact on his colleagues and the community. He was a founding member of ADEPT, an initiative supporting employees with disabilities, and established Jennifer’s Green Chain. A passionate mentor, Vincent’s leadership was instrumental in crisis situations, including a major office fire response. He continues to give back to Brock as a guest lecturer and mentor, embodying the spirit of education and community.
Dr. Yousef Haj-Ahmad BSc ’80, MSc ’82
Dr. Yousef Haj-Ahmad is the CEO of Norgen Biotek, a biotechnology leader he has helmed for 25 years, pioneering proprietary technologies in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors. He holds a BSc and MSc from Brock University and a PhD in Biology from McMaster University. Dr. Haj-Ahmad is a philanthropist helping make an impact for causes he cares about. He was honored with the 2023 Niagara Impact Award and the Paul Harris Fellowship for his contributions to education and community service.
