Our rigorous academic courses and professional orientation are aligned with industry needs and will set you on the path to becoming a professional accountant. Co-op students can apply 16 to 20 months of practical work experience towards the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. THE GOODMAN CPA PATHWAY — FAST, COST-EFFECTIVE, COMPLETE. Goodman provides one of the fastest tracks to the CPA designation. When you take our Bachelor of Accounting (BAcc) and Master of Accountancy (MAcc) programs, you’ll learn everything you need to successfully complete the Common Final Exam (CFE).

If you complete the BAcc program, you have two options: Option 1: Apply to the Goodman MAcc program, which would only take seven months to complete and covers the six CPA preparatory courses. Option 2: Enter the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) with advanced standing. The CPA PEP is only offered on a part-time basis and may take up to two years to complete.

If you want a career in business, our BBA program allows you to tailor your degree to meet your personal career goals. In your first two years, you’ll receive a solid foundation in the functional areas of business along with knowledge of the Canadian and global business environment through a core set of courses. T he BBA program (Accounting concentration) provides a broader managerial degree with a more limited focus in accounting. The BBA program meets some, but not all, CPA requirements. The BAcc program is designed for students intending to pursue a professional accounting designation and includes all university courses required by CPA Ontario (Chartered Professional Accountants).

TAKE YOUR CO-OP EXPERIENCE INTERNATIONAL Goodman is the first business school in Canada to form a co-op partnership with the United Nations Association in Canada (UNA-Canada). Students can work in any country with a United Nations agency on an eight-month economic development co-op work term, from September to May, while receiving up to $1,000 from Brock’s Co-op Education office and an additional $8,000 in financial support from the School through a gift received from the Goodman Family Foundation in 2012. Students work as junior professional consultants in a specific area of business, including business analytics, finance, accounting, strategic communications and international trade, while also contributing in meaningful ways beyond the boardroom.

Get ready for Goodman Goodman offers a mentoring program open to all incoming first-year students. A round table discussion will focus on the transition to university, including the successes and challenges often faced by students. A time management workshop led by a Goodman professor will help you manage coursework and extracurriculars. You’ll meet some of your fellow classmates, Goodman faculty and staff, and become more familiar with the Brock campus.

Presentation Etiquette Workshop At Goodman, we teach students how to take their presentation skills to the next level. A workshop focusing on proper presentation etiquette will teach students about team dynamics, presentation flow and style, roles and responsibilities. It will build your confidence and equip you with oral communication skills you can apply inside and outside the classroom.

Case Interview Skills Session In this skills session, students learn what employers are looking for in a case-based interview. You will learn how to best prepare, how to stand out and what areas to focus on during an interview.

Competitor Development Program Business competitions are a great way to get involved with Goodman student life. They also help you apply the knowledge you learn in the classroom to real-life scenarios. Goodman’s case competition training session will teach you how to approach cases and present your ideas effectively. The skills you gain can be used when you’re presenting in class, representing Goodman at a case competition or interviewing for a job or co-op position.

APPLYING TO BROCK Step 1: Select a program After exploring your options at Brock, select the program area you wish to pursue. Applying to multiple Brock programs? Please note: you can expect to receive and hold an offer of admission to only one Brock program at a time. When more than one Brock program is indicated on the application, the highest choice listed for Brock will be considered first. If you are not eligible for your first choice, we will consider your subsequent choices (in the order of preference you have indicated). If you apply to only one Brock program and do not qualify, in most cases consideration will be given for an alternate and related program. If you apply for but are not admitted to a co-op program, you will be considered automatically for the regular non-co-op program (if you have not included a second choice on the application).

Applicants with a specialized curriculum International Baccalaureate diploma If you’ve been granted the IB diploma, you will be considered for admission and may receive up to 3.0 transfer credits on the basis of higher-level subjects completed with a grade of five or better. Advanced Placement program Advanced Placement courses may be used to determine your admissibility and the granting of transfer credits or exemption. If you have completed Advanced Placement courses with an examination grade of four, you may be eligible to receive a maximum of 2.0 Brock credits. An official AP transcript is required for evaluation. General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) Applicants will be considered for admission with the completion of five GCE/GCSE/IGCSE subjects with at least two at A-Level (GCSE grades at C or above). One GCSE/IGCSE/O-Level subject (grade C or above) and 4 AS-Level subjects will be considered, provided the AS-levels do not duplicate subject matter at the GCSE/ IGCSE or O-Level. In consultation with the appropriate academic department, the Office of the Registrar will consider transfer credit for those A-Level courses passed with a grade of 'C' or better to a maximum of three credits. Transfer credit will not be considered for courses completed to AS-Level.
