FROM OUR HEAD OF OUR YOUTH –

Matthew West

Overall, it has been a great year for our youth set up at the club. We made some changes to our programme for the U18s this season primarily to get more time together on the training field. It's been a demanding and challenging schedule. The response from the players has been excellent in both commitment and attitude throughout.

At this stage of their careers, results in our matches are not of utmost importance. The result we are all striving towards is to see these guys break through into the first team. That said, winning games breeds confidence and validates our work - For the guys to secure a 5th place finish in the U18s East Section league and Win the GPH Builders Merchant U21s league is a terrific effort and well deserved.

Our senior youth players have spent the season on loan at local junior clubs with good feedback and progress throughout. All have had a strong contribution during their loan club's campaigns. We are forever grateful for our relationships with the local junior clubs who share our ambition for young players to develop in the game.

For the younger members of the youth set-up these guys have played juvenile football within the ADJFA. A number of these guys are part of Peterhead Boys Club 2007 who Managed by former Broch Player Scott Mackie, are this season's ADJFA U16 A-League champions. An achievement which we are very proud of our players to be part of.

Ahead of the summer we are excited to bolster our squad with a number of guys from the foundation phase making the step up to U18s. The senior youth players will also join up with Mark and the 1st team squad for pre-season, which is a fantastic opportunity and one which we hope will prove pivotal as they continue their football journey with us.

The regular involvement of our youth players within the 1st team set up across training and games throughout the season is crucial. We are excited to see what the future holds for each of them in the season ahead.
