counties in the region competed against each other, restricted and open, up to advanced medium. There was some tough competition but Somerset County were the overall winners – well done! SW FESTIVAL OF BYRDS Now in its second year, the 2012 event was held at Millfield School on Good Friday. There was a BYRDS v Pony Club challenge with 12 teams competing plus Squad Test Riding. The event was really well attended over the Bank Holiday. BYRDS FLEDGLING AND C SQUAD CAMP 28-29 JULY A fledgling and C squad riders’ camp will be held at Hollow Farm, Glos. SUMMER TRAINING CAMP 13–14 AUG Following a successful spring camp, we are holding an additional summer camp for both senior and BYRDS riders for the first time. The camp will be held at the David Broome Centre (Chepstow) and we have some great trainers already lined up, including Jackie Bevan, Kate Gibson and Sally Williams. There will be individual training sessions and test riding, as well as a fitness programme for riders! Places are likely to be booked up quickly, so please contact me if you would like to attend. We will also be hosting another BYRDS camp during October in North Wales. Keep an eye on the Wales regional web page for details.
JUDGE TRAINING Important information: To remain on the Judges Panel, all judges should attend one regional judge training seminar at the correct level every two years and one official judge training session at the correct level every year. Only in exceptional circumstances will this be waived. If you are unable to fulfil the above requirements, you must write to the office stating your reasons for not attending and you may request dispensation to attend at a different level. BRITISH DRESSAGE CONVENTION HARTPURY COLLEGE, GLOS, 24-25 NOVEMBER The BD Convention, supported by The National Saddle Centre, is hosted by Britain’s very own Carl Hester – one of the world’s leading dressage riders and trainers.
