This handbook, edited by Dr Martin Wedell, is based on the British Council’s experience of working on teacher education projects in India, South Asia and around the world. The handbook sets out and introduces advice and strategies for anyone involved in teacher education to consider when they are designing and planning effective large-scale teacher education programmes. The content is based on sound principles of educational change management and reflects the goals and strategies articulated in international and national policy documents.
The whole handbook can be followed step by step by those responsible at the different levels of teacher education provision. It can also be used for reference, to be dipped into for suggestions about what needs to considered at the various stages of planning or designing these programmes.
