Hearing from our U13 Girls...

The U13As have recently won 4-1 against Redmaids in the National Cup Round 3. Goals from Lucy Barnes (2), Ayesha Craig, Millie Hargreaves secured them with a win to go through to the next round against Princethorpe College. Here is a reflection on their season so far…

1. How has the season gone so far?

The season has started strongly, with the team showing great communication and a strong attacking press in every match. We have won 6 games and lost only 1, with a strong highlight being a 7-0 win against KES Bath. This season has been such an amazing experience for all of us in the U13 girls’ hockey team. We’ve worked hard in training, and it’s been so rewarding to see our effort pay off. Our coaches have helped us improve every week, and it feels great to see how much we’ve grown since the start of the season. We can’t wait to keep playing, keep learning, and hopefully finish the season even stronger!

2. What was the highlight of the match?

The ball was transferred smoothly across to Elodie on the wing, who controlled it well before slapping it down to the corner of the D. From there, she delivered a precise cross into the circle, where Ayesha was perfectly positioned to finish with a well-timed goal. It was a brilliant example of patient, composed hockey — showing great teamwork, communication, and skill in the build-up to a well-deserved score.

3. What are you excited for in the rest of the season?

We’re all really excited for the rest of the season, especially our National Cup matches! It’s such a great opportunity to play against strong teams from other schools and test ourselves at a higher level. We know the games will be challenging, but we’re ready to give everything we’ve got. Our goal is to keep improving, support each other, and play with the same passion and determination that’s helped us so far. Whatever happens, we’re proud to represent BGS and can’t wait to see how far we can go together.

Notice for this weekend...

As Remembrance Day falls next Tuesday, we will be taking time this weekend to honour those who have served and sacrificed. Before the start of each of our Saturday matches, teams, staff, and spectators will observe a brief period of silence. This moment of reflection allows us to come together as a community to show respect and gratitude for the courage and dedication of those who gave their lives in service. We encourage everyone to join us in this act of remembrance.
