October Lunch Club with David MIller
Old Bristolian Lecture Series Wednesday 10 November 2021 6.30pm - 7.30pm
Friday 01 Oct 2021, midday Old Bristolians’ Sports Ground, Failand We are delighted to be able to invite you to our Lunch Clubs in person! Usually on the first Friday of each month, you’re invited to join us at the Old Bristolians’ Sports Ground, Failand for a hot, cooked meal followed by a speaker and for our first month we have former Head of Classics at BGS staff member David Miller. Please arrive at midday for a 12.30pm start. Please note catering numbers do need to be confirmed in advance so please pay via the website to secure your place. The event is an opportunity for both experienced professionals and younger graduates looking for career advice, to network, share stories and support each other as a part of the Bristol Grammar School community based in London. Jaideep Barot, Headmaster at BGS, will welcome you and we are delighted that our guest speaker will be Tim Hailes, (OB 1986), Executive Director of Five Islands Capital and former Managing Director & Associate General Counsel in the Investment Banking Division of JPMorgan Chase & Co. There is no charge for entry and a selection of drinks and canapes are provided throughout the event.
SPEAKER: Hayden Taylor, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. Hayden Taylor attended BGS from 1988-1999 before going on to study at Trinity College, Cambridge where he received his BA and Master of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 2004. He was sponsored by ST Microelectronics. He is a Senior Scholar of Trinity College, Cambridge, and received the Cambridge University Engineering Department’s Baker Prize in 2004. Hayden received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT in 2009. Hayden is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, and the Institute of Physics. He was an Institution of Electrical Engineers Jubilee Scholar 2000-4, and was a Kennedy Scholar for the academic year 2004-5.
