POLICE, CRIME AND ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR UPDATE 12 – 26 APRIL 2022

CRIME STATS Between 12 and 26 April, there have been 294 crimes recorded. Theft is the highest recorded crime (97), closely followed by violence against the

person (81). Anti-social behaviour (ASB) incidents total 150 across Bristol City Centre BID, Broadmead BID and Redcliffe and Temple BID.

ROMANIAN COMMUNITY Over recent years we have had a growing community of Romanians who are sleeping rough and begging primarily in the city centre but also further afield in the wider Bristol area. This is a national issue that could be categorised as a crime group based on the business model of professional begging. This has been raised as an issue by many City Leaders and as a result, there is lots of work going on to try and reduce this community sleeping rough and harming our business community.

We have a robust plan for the removal of property left by them during the day, action days organised with immigration and we are actively looking at a gating solution to restrict access to spaces known for being of high use from the community. For police and our partners to really deliver on this priority, we need your help by reporting ASB, crime and general negative impact. If you are the victim of the behaviour of this community please report to the police and tell your local BID representative.
