“Age UK Bristol is once again honoured to manage the Celebrating Age Festival, and we hope that you enjoy the wide variety of activities and events happening across the city, that recognise and celebrate the positive contribution the over 50s make to life in Bristol. I’d like to thank all those involved in making this year’s event a success, especially Bristol City Council for their continued funding and commitment to making life for older people richer and more fulfilling.”

If they are 55 plus, live in Bristol, help others, have overcome adversity or are an unsung hero who always goes that extra mile, please nominate them! The Celebrating Age Festival wants to showcase them and what can be achieved in later life.

The five categories are: 1. Sports and Physical Activity - this could be a sports player, coach or dancer

5. Group - how does your older person’s group ‘enhance lives’?

Art and Craft Exhibition

From the 8th to 29th September, an exhibition of art and craft from artists aged over 50 - on the theme ‘Green Bristol Celebrating Age’ - will be displayed in the Central Library as part of the Celebrating Age Festival. Visit the library and vote for your favourite work.

The three most popular pieces will be displayed at the Launch Event on Sunday 27th September.

Welcome to the Celebrating Age Festival 2015

Festival Highlights at M Shed

Ujima Radio 98FM will be broadcasting a two hour show, live from the M Shed.

This year’s event will be officially opened by the Right Honourable Lord Mayor of Bristol, Cllr Clare Campion-Smith (pictured), at 10am, followed by the Older Achievers Awards Ceremony and the prize giving to the Art Competition winners.

The Celebrating Age Festival is launched again at the M Shed on Sunday 27th September, with the theme of ‘Green Bristol Celebrating Age’. The M Shed is an ideal central location and an exciting museum showcasing Bristol’s history through its people, places and events.

Located on the harbourside, the M Shed is a 10 minute walk from the city centre and 20 minutes walk from Bristol Temple Reduced Price Computers!

Calling all Creative Over 50s

27th September - 12th October Entries are invited for the Celebrating Age Festival Art and Craft Competition. This year’s theme is ‘Green Bristol Celebrating Age’ – anything from paintings and sculptures to collage and tapestry. Drop off date is Saturday 29th August at Central Library.
