NC Sales and Use Tax for Computer Software Prior to January 1, 2010, computer software delivered electronically or delivered by load and leave was exempt from sales and use tax pursuant to G.S. 105-164.13(43a). A sale of computer software that is designed to run on an enterprise server operating system is exempt from sales and use tax. The exemption includes a purchase or license of computer software for high-volume, simultaneous use on multiple computers, that is housed or maintained on an enterprise server or end users’ computers. The exemption includes software designed to run a computer system, an operating program, or application software. The delivery method of the computer software is irrelevant.

IFRS for SMEs-U.S. GAAP Comparison Tool Available Online From the Journal of Accountancy – While the SEC moves toward a 2011 vote on whether to require U.S. public companies to report using IFRS, a more compact version of the international standards is already an option, subject to state board approval, for U.S. private companies. Now there’s a free online tool to help preparers understand how that streamlined standard compares to U.S. GAAP. The IFRS for SMEs-U.S. GAAP Comparison Wiki, available at wiki.ifrs.com, is a collaborative resource launched in January for understanding differences between the two sets of financial reporting standards. IFRS for SMEs is a simplified version of full IFRS aimed at meeting the needs of private company financial reporting users. It eliminates some of the requirements meant specifically for public entities.

IFRS – G-20 drops mention of 2011 deadline in support of global standards The G-20 reiterated its support for a single set of international accounting standards at its latest gathering in Toronto, but backed off from an earlier emphasis on meeting a June 2011 deadline. “We re-emphasized the importance of achieving a single set of high quality improved global accounting standards,” said a statement from the group of countries.

A choice as to be made between increasing the disk space or removing the data. While it is always possible to store an increasing amount of information, as more data is kept on the live system, more time is required for processing. TharpeRobbins Offers Employees Some Positive Reinforcement

Long time JD Edwards users, and innovators in the managed reward and employee recognition industry, TharpeRobbins recently announced their new Motiv8 Points Card System. "The idea is that employees are awarded with points on the spot when they are caught in the act of doing something right. The recognition is instant rather than after the fact," says Neal Cao, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at TharpeRobbins. "When a manager on the manufacturing floor observes an employee obeying OSHA rules or going above and beyond safety standards, the manager hands the employee a Points Card, which entitles them to bank points and redeem them for choice awards." The Motiv8 Points Cards can be created to be generic or completely customized to the particular company. Card sizes range from gift card sized to small enough to fit on a key ring. Once enough Motiv8 points are earned, employees can use them to redeem awards from the Motiv8 website. Awards available include electronics to house ware items to jewelry. "The goal of the points program is to reinforce positive, desired behaviors so that over time they become second nature," says Anthony Luciano, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at TharpeRobbins. "Peer pressure also comes into play because as teammates receive rewards they encourage others, by example, to follow suit."
