Childrens PARK
A present generational failure to engage children
What has the modern development brought change and how has it really affected the children?
The observation and the activity has given the answer quite clearly and definately, the playground has failed to engage children. The rigid planning and the lack in actual understanding of childrens cognitive perspective is what led to the current situation.
Instead of giving the park with full equipments to the children, give them an empty space. They will definately make something out of it which they actually enjoy. Therefore, the whole concept of childrens park is setting a journey for them. Starting from the use of natural terrain to make space more interesting where trees guide the visitors, birds welcome them with thier singing, the journey gets embraced by the scent of the flowers and creates a sense of mystery which excites them about what to come next. The concept of childrens park only for children is what actually made non-engagement of parents and even for other adults. Childrens park can definately act as a refreshment for others as well, as there doesnot always have to be only equipments.

MYSTERIOUS

MOVEMENT
The trees become the guide to the visitor, the birds welcome them to their home where the fragment of the flowers scents enhances the overall experiences.
REFUGE AND PROSPECT

SHELTER
The trees protects the child allowing them to shelter from sun, wind, rain etc. but it also act as a body to support their climbing, swinging and hanging.

RISK
Kids usually has a habit of not listening and doing the opposite. Including areas where there is certain risk and danger is what they prefer, like climbing through ropes.
RISK

SRNSE OF SPACE
Child doesn’t really have anything for their own except for the toys so, they usually create something on their own to imitate. Giving them a space for exploration is a must.

THRILL
Through the bumpiness of terrain creating sequential up and down spaces interests them and even scares them to some extent. Using tree log as a bridge passage.
