From Principal’s Desk “Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”- Mahatma Gandhi Let’s look into our happiness quotient …………… and find happiness in everything around us. How happy we are? India stands at 140th position among 156 nations across the world when considered how happy the residents of this land are. You know the happiness quotient of this country was quite low. Happiness cannot be bought, borrowed or begged…………….. “Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions.” - Dalai Lama Finland being the happiest nation across the world for the second consecutive year indicates we need to learn from them. Pakistan (67th position), Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Srilanka are all ahead of us. The unhappy nations (Sudan, some African countries, Afghanistan, Tanzania, Syria and Botswana etc.) among us are those who are war ridden, deprived of their basic necessities, lack of proper education, poor standard of living, running out of two course of meal a day. We are not so deep rooted into these issues then why are we slipping down every year? A few days back a news headline read – A man left his brand new Mercedes Benz at the river slope to get it drowned- reason, he asked for a Jaguar and his father got Mercedes Benz. “Happiness is not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort.” - Franklin D. Roosevelt Let’s be more creative, let we be help to others and let’s speak a few words of happiness. Let’s think less of materialistic things. Let’s live a disciplined life. Love your parents, love your elders and the youngers, love the nature, the animals around us as - “Happiness depends upon us.” -Aristotle

OUT OF THE DOOR

Friendship

Out of the door

A friend in need is a friend indeed! A true friend will be one who will stay by your side at all times. A real friendship stays by you through thick and thin. A true friend should be cherished and whose friendship should be safeguarded. Losing a true friend is like losing a treasure and you may never recover the wealth you lose. A true friend is difficult to come by. So value the friendship of such a friend. Most of all, reciprocate the love your friend has for you. And give your friend a special place in your heart.

Where the nature resides by In the school building Where the memories once took place. All above the pleasant sky Under which the trees lie In between where the birds fly All makes the future thought of mine Of Imagery & irony of past Letting the mindfulness little disturb Of flashbacks and vibes Wind passing through greenery Making the trees laugh. Out of the door, beyond the boundary On the Earth, Alone I stood This time with wind’s grace Passing me with its healing touch Forgetting what could & what if Asked me accept May be good, may be not Taught me whatever happiness; Happens for good Past has passed, Future is yet to come One has gone, One is still to be. And so I satisfied with what I have, “Present to live life as its best.” Nikita Khilwani XI-C

It is said that science is the religion of the modern age. It is so because science has revolutionized modern life. Science is the modern God of reasons that abhor blind faiths. Man however worships science not because it has given him new and free ideas, but because it has provided him with great material comforts and made life easier to live. The space has been annihilated. The whole world has become a small place.

Illiteracy

Beyond the limit, being limitless

Science and Human Happiness

Illiteracy is a state where one is unable to read and write. In its simplest it can be defined as lack of sufficient education. It refers to the inability of a person to be educated and a major cause of prevailing poverty. There are many people who never had the opportunity to go in for formal education, mostly due to poverty or sometimes due to different family backgrounds. The causes of illiteracy are: • Illiteracy among parents • Lack of awareness • Poverty • Lack of family support • Social barriers • Lack of affordable education How do you think we can solve or overcome illiteracy?  We should double our efforts and make it our mission to help the poor and make them study.  Children should be encouraged to develop a taste for learning.  Even students can teach the basics of languages to the needy and enable them to read and write.  We should donate our old books as it may help the poor.  Teachers may come forward and devote some time for teaching the poor children.  “Education of women and girl child should be given due importance.

Pranshu Tamrakar Class - X B
