Shortly after arriving in Boston in 1998, Bridge Nine Records owner Chris Wrenn wanted to get involved in his new local music scene. As a way to meet new people and promote their efforts within the community, he adapted the half-size folded paper layout of his “underground” high school newspaper and created the Boston Hardcore & Punk Factsheet. Over the next year, Chris interviewed members of two local bands or record labels in the Boston hardcore and punk scene every month. The simple DIY format ensured he could print and distribute them on a regular basis. The publication consisted of an interview with a local band, a report of local music news, a “20 Questions” feature with someone from a band or label, and a comprehensive listing of Boston area shows for that month.
This compilation of 12 issues also helped document a very transitional time in one of the most dynamic aggressive music scenes in the United States, and is now available in this collection.
