In our November Lunch and Learn we talked about tools and tips for increasing your holiday sales. There were three key takeaways from the program.
1.Understand Your Customers: It’s important to understand that your customers will change their buying patterns and habits around the Holidays. We used the example of Bryan, a regular at Jett’s coffee shop who buys a plain cup of coffee every day of the week. During the Holidays, however, Bryan buys his normal cup of coffee, a tumbler for his wife, an ornament from a local vendor, and a bag of coffee to drink while his family is in town. Understanding the change in Bryan’s buying habits helps you cater to your customers!
2.Understand the Holiday Sales Cycle: The Holiday sales cycle is the pattern of changes that occur in customer behaviors as the Holidays progress. There are four elements to each stage in the cycle. The time frame, the buyer profile, the emotional/mental states, and the action steps. Understanding the Holiday Sales Cycle helps you be ready for each stage of the Holiday season!
3.Build Your Holiday Plan: A Holiday Plan is your guide to navigating the changes in buyer behaviors during the Holiday Sales Cycle. When you are building your Holiday Plan, you want to focus on the two primary components of the plan. Physical Components include elements like special sales and discounts, bundles, seasonal products and services, and promotions. Emotional Components include elements like decoration and design, community focused programs, and giveaways and memory-makers. Finally, don’t forget to include a marketing plan for the customers who will frequent your store for the first time, like the newbies and the out-of-towners!
If you’d like any more information about how to build a Holiday Plan, please reach out to The Bootstrap Collaborative! We are a (free!) resource, and we are happy to help with one-on-one consultations or group training. Just drop us a line at bootstrapcollab.com/contact-us.

When people talk about community, they often mean more than just where they live—they’re speaking about connection, heritage, and a sense of responsibility to one another. For Amanda Brodie of Brodie Law, LLC in Lander,Wyoming, those values are at the very heart of her practice. Amanda moved back to Wyoming and opened her law firm in 2018, bringing a fresh but deeply rooted perspective to Fremont County. Although Amanda has litigated and practiced in the criminal realm, she intentionally shifted her focus to estate planning and transactional work, areas of law she recognizes as
essential for young and elderly alike. For families, individuals, and business owners, these services ensure peace of mind, stability, financial savings, direction and control, and the ability to plan for the future.
A Legacy of Commitment to Lander
Amanda’s ties to Lander run deep. Her family has called the area home since 1918, and now, over a century later, she is raising her own family here. That sense of history, belonging, and commitment to the place she loves is woven into everything she does. After years away, Amanda returned to Lander with purpose: she saw a need in her hometown, and

Have you ever received an email that you thought might be a little bit suspicious, maybe even fraudulent? People all around the state, and even the world, are seemingly always unfortunately looking for a way to scam people out of their hard-earned money. I want to touch on a few ways we, as employees and/or business owners, can try and catch those scams before we are hit with one.
When dealing with emails, particularly from unfamiliar or unexpected senders, it’s crucial to be cautious with every aspect of the email.
Here are some key strategies to protect yourself:
Be wary of suspicious links and attachments: Don’t click on links or open attachments in unexpected emails, especially if they create a sense of urgency or threaten negative consequences if you don’t act quickly. Hover over links to reveal the actual URL before clicking, and don’t download attachments unless you are absolutely certain of the sender and its legitimacy.
Verify the sender’s identity: If you receive a suspicious message claiming to be from a company or organization you know, don’t rely on the email to provide contact information. Instead, go directly to the organization’s official website (using a trusted source like a bookmark or a new web search) and contact them through their officially listed channels to verify the message’s authenticity.
Look for red flags:
Generic greetings: Reputable organizations often personalize emails, so a generic greeting like “Dear Customer”can be a warning sign.
Poor spelling and grammar: Legitimate companies generally proofread their communications, so obvious errors can indicate a scam.
Mismatched or suspicious email domains: Check the sender’s email address – subtle misspellings or domains different from the company’s official domain are red flags.
Unusual requests for personal information: Legitimate companies rarely ask for sensitive information like passwords or financial details via email.
Promises that seem too good to be true: Offers of large sums of money or prizes are often lures to entice you to click on malicious links or provide personal information.
Secure your accounts:
Use strong, unique passwords for all accounts, and enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) whenever possible. This adds an extra layer of protection, making it significantly harder for scammers to access your accounts even if they obtain your password.
Regularly review your financial statements and online account activity for any suspicious transactions.
Keep your software updated: Ensure your operating system, web browser, and security software (antivirus, firewall) are up-to-date.These updates often include patches for vulnerabilities that scammers exploit.
Use anti-phishing tools: Consider browser extensions or add-ons that can help detect and block access to known phishing sites.
By following these best practices and maintaining a healthy level of skepticism when it comes to unexpected emails, you can significantly reduce your risk of falling victim to email scams.

As another year comes to a close, we want to express our sincere appreciation to this incredible community. Your trust, collaboration, and support have made this a year of meaningful growth and connection for our team. We’re proud to live and work in a place where people look out for one another — and we’re committed to continuing that spirit of integrity, craftsmanship, and community in everything we do.

This December, our entire team will take part in a company-wide food drive, supporting the Lander Food Banks and families in need across Fremont County.
We believe that when one neighbor gives, the whole community grows stronger — and we invite you to join us in giving back.
If you’re looking for ways to help our neighbors in need, please consider supporting these local organizations:

Fremont County Good Samaritan Center
Lander Care & Share Food Pantry
Together, we can make this winter a little brighter for everyone.

In 2026, after six years in Lander, the LOR Foundation will say farewell as we begin work with another Wyoming community. LOR was created to support rural towns across the Mountain West, and part of that mission means moving on after a few years, as hard as that can be.
But we’re not gone yet! We’ll continue supporting the ideas and solutions Lander locals bring forward through June 2026. There’s still time to turn your vision for Lander into reality— just like the 250+ locals who’ve led nearly 400 projects since we arrived in 2020.
We’ll keep celebrating their work in this space in the months ahead, and we hope you’ll be inspired to share your own idea, too. ami@lorfoundation.org (307) 349-2654 lorfoundation.org
