IN THIS ASSIGNMENT, WE'LL EMBARK ON A JOURNEY THROUGH A SELECTED PLACE OR STREET, ANALYZING A SCENARIO THAT WILL FORM THE CORE NARRATIVE OF OUR PROJECT. OUR TASK IS TO UNCOVER OR SPECULATE ON A NARRATIVE WITHIN THE GIVEN THEME AND BEGIN CONSTRUCTING A SERIES OF SCENARIOS THAT RESPOND TO THE CONTEXT. FOR ASSIGNMENT 1, WE'LL EXPRESS OUR DISCOVERIES USING CREATIVE METHODS SUCH AS SPECULATIVE DRAWINGS, PHOTOGRAPHY, FILMS, LYRICS, POEMS, AND SHORT STORIES.

AS A CONTINUATION OF PHASE 1, WE'LL TEAM UP IN GROUPS TO PROPOSE AN EXPLORATORY LIVE PROJECT. THE SCOPE OF OUR PROJECT IS UP TO US AND OUR GROUP, ALLOWING FOR A WIDE RANGE OF POSSIBILITIES CONNECTED TO EXPLORATORY DRAWINGS. OUR IDEAS SHOULD ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF THE SITE, AND OUR DESIGNS CAN TAKE ON VARIOUS FORMS OF EXPRESSION WHETHER WHIMSICAL, SOCIAL, ECONOMIC, SPECULATIVE, POLITICAL, OR POETIC. EVERY DESIGN INTENTION SHOULD BE CLOSELY TIED TO THE CONTEXT OF THE SITE.

"REFLECTION"
SEMESTER 6 HAS BEEN A TRANSFORMATIVE PERIOD, ONE WHERE I TRULY BEGAN TO UNDERSTAND THE POWER OF STORYTELLING IN DESIGN. FROM THE OUTSET, THE FOCUS WAS ON DEVELOPING A NARRATIVE THAT WOULD SERVE AS THE FOUNDATION FOR MY FINAL SEMESTER PROJECT. THIS WASN'T JUST ABOUT COMING UP WITH A STORYLINE; IT WAS ABOUT IMMERSING MYSELF IN THE CONTEXT, DISSECTING THE ENVIRONMENT, AND UNCOVERING THE LAYERS OF MEANING THAT COULD BE WOVEN INTO MY WORK.
THE JOURNEY OF DEVELOPING THIS NARRATIVE HAS BEEN INTENSE AND MULTIFACETED. I STARTED BY EXPLORING THE CHOSEN SITE, OBSERVING ITS NUANCES, AND IDENTIFYING THE ELEMENTS THAT COULD INSPIRE A COMPELLING STORY. THIS PROCESS REQUIRED A LOT OF REFLECTION AND EXPERIMENTATION, AS I HAD TO CONSIDER VARIOUS SCENARIOS AND SPECULATE ON DIFFERENT POSSIBILITIES THAT COULD ARISE FROM THE CONTEXT. THE NARRATIVE I BEGAN TO BUILD WAS NOT JUST A BACKDROP FOR THE PROJECT, BUT THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND EVERY DESIGN DECISION.
AS THE SEMESTER PROGRESSED, I FOUND MYSELF CONSTANTLY REVISITING AND REFINING THE NARRATIVE, ENSURING THAT IT RESONATED WITH THE THEMES AND CHALLENGES OF THE SITE. THIS ITERATIVE PROCESS WAS CRUCIAL IN SHAPING MY UNDERSTANDING OF HOW A WELL-CRAFTED NARRATIVE CAN ELEVATE A DESIGN PROJECT, MAKING IT NOT ONLY VISUALLY ENGAGING BUT ALSO DEEPLY MEANINGFUL.
IN ADDITION TO THE TECHNICAL ASPECTS, THIS SEMESTER HAS BEEN ABOUT EMBRACING CREATIVITY AND THINKING BEYOND CONVENTIONAL BOUNDARIES. I EXPLORED VARIOUS FORMS OF EXPRESSION, FROM SPECULATIVE DRAWINGS TO POETRY, EACH METHOD HELPING ME TO SEE THE NARRATIVE FROM A NEW ANGLE. THIS EXPLORATION HAS BEEN INVALUABLE IN BROADENING MY PERSPECTIVE AND PUSHING THE LIMITS OF WHAT A DESIGN NARRATIVE CAN BE.
