We appreciate you taking the time to look over our 2023 sale offering. We decided in the spring that we would take a different marketing approach this year and offer the top end of our heifer calves by private treaty. In the offering are 3 Riesling’s, a Zumba and a “22”, all of which are cow families that consistently appear in our show string year after year. The heifers have not been overfed and that is a fairly standard approach for us. Our experience has been that the heifers grow better over the winter, breed better in the spring, and stay fresh as yearlings this way. Further, they should have no calving problems and they will milk once they get into production. Our plan is that at least 2 of these heifers will make the trek to both Toronto and Regina this fall however we are certainly open to input from their potential owners. We have enough confidence in these calves that anything that does not sell will stay right here as replacement females.

We are also offering an Embryo lot for Spring 2024 implanting, and 5 packages of K Cartel 708 ET semen. Have a look through the catalog for more detail.

Deuce is the baby of the bunch and what a sweetheart she is. Her full sister sold last fall to Wooden Shoe Farms in Idaho. Her maternal sister 8404F, along with her calf at side, was recently named Reserve Mature Cow at Bonanza. You can see from 1B’s pasture pic that she isn’t a show cow. But she produces show heifers…it’s what she does, and it doesn’t seem to matter who she’s bred to. We like the Cartel x 1B mating so much that we tried it again for 2024!

OFFERING 3 EMBRYOS FOR SPRING 2024 404H X BR LONESTAR Back in 2021, Double-H Scarlet 404H was probably the winningest female across Ontario. This Cartel daughter wanted no part of being a show heifer off the start but ended up taking us on quite a ride and finished the season being named Champion Hereford in the Agribition Jr Beef Extreme show for Katie. Scarlet remains one of the best we have bred here and the proposed mating is one that makes us really excited!

Scarlet is due early in January and will be flushed as soon after as possible to our new herdsire, BR Lonestar K017. Lonestar was the obvious pick for us and our partner, Edenrun Farm, when we visited Texas in March. He went directly to stud following the sale, then back home for a short time to prepare for the Junior National Hereford Exhibition in Madison where he was Division IV champion bull. Barber’s thought enough of Lonestar that they retained part interest and he will be used in their breeding program in 2024. The bull lacks absolutely nothing…he’s as sound as sound can be, huge footed and moves with such ease (he was recently described as being an athlete), he’s big ribbed and wide topped and has the most beautiful front end all topped off with a true beef bull head. Add in a bunch of pigment and the fact that he’s homo polled and you can’t ask for much more

Terms & Conditions TERMS & CONDITIONS The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made prior to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. First Class Cattle Marketing reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should the purchaser fail to settle for his purchase, Any loss arising from such resale, together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. The owners, and sale staff have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment and/or who has not made prior credit arrangements prior to the sale with the owners and/or Sale Management.

EXCHANGE Foreign exchange rates will be announced at the beginning of the sale.

BID Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder.

DISPUTES In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneers decision in such matters will be final.

PURCHASERS RISK Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold.

ANNOUNCEMENTS From the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY The proper Registration of Recordation paper, as the case may be, will be duly transferred and furnished to the buyer for each animal after settlement has been made.

SHIPPING Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale, but Sale Management or Seller assumes no risk. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instruction when making settlement.

GUARANTEE All animals will carry standard breeding guarantee as specified by the applicable Canadian breed Association. At no time shall the sellers liability exceed the purchased price of the animal.

EXCEPTION TO GUARANTEE In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void. In the cases of bulls, they are guaranteed to breed naturally according to applicable Canadian breed Association guarantee, but no guarantee is given that semen from any bull will freeze.

HEALTH It is the buyers responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state.

ACCIDENTS Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sale Management, auctioneer, or Association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property.

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and the terms and conditions of this sale do not cover obligations of the two parties connected thereto.
