The Early Years Program honors the natural curiosity of children through play-based learning in a stimulating environment that fosters wonder Our program provides a holistic space where children can learn about, interact with and interpret the world around them At Brewster, we value joyful learning and seek to engage learner curiosity, wonder and imagination through which research, thinking and communication skills can grow Through play, our early learners investigate their ideas within a supportive learning community to understand increasingly how the world works Our learners develop as curious, creative thinkers who are persistent and caring Our curricular framework is based on four components: concept-based inquiry, wonder, relationships, and play

Every Lower School learner has a team of teachers who regularly meets to discuss their progress, identifying strengths to foster and areas for growth The Lower School team collaborates to monitor and support each learner, benefiting from shared expertise Homeroom teachers partner closely with their learners, with the goal of helping them thrive and reach their full potential every day
Lower School learning spaces have flexible seating for collaboration, manipulatives for numeracy and literacy, and classroom libraries to inspire a love of reading Materials for creativity and investigation are always accessible, and outdoor learning provides space for play, team challenges, and experiments
Madrid offers multiple opportunities to enhance learning and enrich inquiry through exploration outside the classroom Our students often venture out into the city to inquire into concepts at museums, local parks, gardens and even markets Every learning expedition becomes a case study from which to gather data!
A variety of afternoon activities which are organized by trimesters are offered at the close of the academic day These activities offer our learners opportunities to participate in sports and exercise, the arts, outdoor learning, language clubs and games There will be multiple opportunities to allow learners to commit to an activity or sport and even try something different each trimester!

LEARNING EXPEDITIONS
At Brewster Madrid, learning expeditions are an essential part of our educational model We use the vibrant city of Madrid as an extended classroom, providing students with real-world experiences that complement and enrich their inclass learning
English is the primary language of instruction, with additional language support available when needed Classes are capped at 15 - 18 students, and students frequently explore Madrid to enhance their learning experience beyond the classroom walls
