Heart of Oakley Festival comes to town by Kyle Szymanski Staff Writer

The Heart of Oakley Festival, featuring a vast of array of entertainment, food, beverage, shopping and cultural education booths, will spring to life Sept. 22 in the updated downtown corridor. A fully loaded lineup of over 50 nonfood vendors, seven food vendors, at least nine entertainment acts and a host of other activities will come together in one free, family-friendly extravaganza, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Civic Center Plaza and along Main Street between Vintage Parkway and Norcross Lane. “The goal is to bring the community together for a fun, family event,” said Cindy Coel-

traditions. A children’s area, offering hands-on craft opportunities, jump houses, a caricaturist and a balloon artist will also be available. Between 4,500 and 5,000 people joined in the fun last year, and event organizers expect at least 5,000 this year. “Even though we are a city of nearly 45,000, this event continues to drive the small-town atmosphere that draws so many to our community,” said City

The fees, charged to individuals or their insurance companies and scheduled to take effect as soon as November, will be determined by on-scene time and services rendered. The charges will not exceed the costs of providing service and will range from $448 an hour (per engine) for individu-
