After months of wondering how they’ll afford proposed rent increases, the residents of Oakley’s Oak Place Senior Villas can breathe a little easier. Those rent increases, which were to take effect this month, have been lowered and capped at a certain percentage, said Erin Mathias, resident services manager for the Corporation for Better Housing, which owns the facility. Mathias declined to release details on the capped amounts or why the organization opted to take action. The facility is a low-income housing, tax-credit project with federal tax

The ripples of hope that a Great Wolf Lodge might open in Brentwood have turned into waves of uncertainty. The City of Gilroy, long rumored to be in competition with Brentwood for a resort, entered into a 60-day exclusivity agreement with Great Wolf to explore bringing a lodge to the city.
