Time Is Changing and So Are We The 1920s is changing continuously each day. Everyday I hear about something new that has come out and I wonder how it works. We are getting new entertainment, technology, and new innovations. We have devoted our time and money into helping support companies in introducing these new items and ideas.

Buying on credit is good for us because its been faster for everyone and faster to produce. It has raised our population believe it or not since all the producing has been so fast and new people have been buying so much there has been new incoming employment for many people. Advertisements have also raised and been a lot better because it has advanced because some people are in need of more persuasion and it has been good for all of us because of people can buy all new things and don’t have to be worried about spending so much. Also America can keep producing more and receive more money for it. Buying on credit has made so many families very happy and has had a huge

impact on all families they can now all get all the newly produced things from America. It

been extremely convenient for America because now they don’t have to save a whole ton of money all at once and they don’t have to be worried and it gives the world a better flow.

Advertisements have been catching people's eyes. These new types of ads have become less informative, and more competitive. Ad agencies and psychologists have been hired to study people and how the ads can appeal to people’s emotions. Now, they aim to deepen our emotions on happiness and fear. Recently, advertisements have been spreading through radio, colored pictures, and movies. These allow them to add more emphasis on certain ideas.

Radios and movies have had such an impact on today’s society. We have learned new information about sports, performers, and citizens like us. Radios have created new jobs for singers and films have created jobs for actors. There are little to no negative aspects to these new products. We are changing each and every day to how we spend our free time. We listen to smooth jazz and watch fun comedy movies at the theatre. Our time today has changed for the better, we buy new and helpful products today and use them more than ever in our leisure time. 3

Throughout the centuries we have been struggling to maintain good housing and being able to provide for ourselves because of manual labor, but ever since Henry Ford came up with the assembly line things have been becoming so much better for everyday people like me and my neighbors. Things have been produced exponentially and that means it takes less money and time to make things, because this happened living standards have gone up for pretty much everyone a lot more things are at our convenience and business are prospering meaning higher wages and less work hours

Another change in this ever changing decade is movies and silent films. Movies and musicals allow Americans to see their favorite books and plays an even new stories acted out on a screen. This new industry is worth millions so not only are films cultural advancement for our nation they also help the economy. Musicals and movies have no downsides because they are just good entertainment.

As you can see we have revolutionized in the 1920s and are continuing to do so. From the new innovations to the fun entertainment we have grown as a country. As we continue to innovate new things we’re growing and thinking more critically to help our future be even brighter.

Buying on credit Princess Martinez In this flourishing age of consumerism, buying on credit and the he the urge of not being left behind by all this advertising has pushed us as americans to buy more more and more.Do to mass production and the assembly line products are produced swiftly and in less expense. It has expanded are standard of living grown our population. Buying on credit has become faster and way more convenient for all Americans because it has become less expensive. Itś good because no one likes having to pay so much and having to wonder if we have on of money for everything and now you don’t have to thanks to buying on credit you can buy new furniture, cars, vacuums, jewelry anything that your heart desires really Consumer credit is raising the population too because of the raise in industry, since its cheaper itś more available for everyone there are more need of employment. This is good for America because if there is a big population and everyone is buying on credit in the long run it will be good for all of us. If America industry is raising it will be good for us to as well because we won’t all have to be paying so much and we can also thank credit for that. Buying on credit has also advanced advertising. This has been good for America because people get dragged into the advertisements and if they don’t them there friends do and they sometimes feel old or lame not having all the new things that america has made such as vacuums, lamps, toys etc. It also good for us because we can buy all these new things and it hasn’t been bad for us. Buying on credit has been good for us so far and since now we are all able to buy new things and not have to worry if we have dough right at the door and you can pay it off in the long run it’s a pretty good idea for America and it has been pretty good with us right now i just got a new couch and now i can sit down like a goofy man and not worry about have alot of dough with me and we have been having a beeś knees life for now so buying on credit is and has been overall good for us Americans. 5

The Amazing Change in Advertising Anna Dreusicke World War I has been over for quite a while now, and our country is going through so many changes. Obviously, our country is at its highest point right now, and everything is moving at such a fast pace that I am even struggling to keep up. The United States has become a more spirited country particularly through a different style of advertising. These new styles have affected our buying habits immensely. It is a new method that citizens are interested in, it has caught my emotions and persuades me by controlling my mind, and the new types of media have strongly used the new style in smart ways. These ads are the greatest thing that has happened to the United States. We, people of the United States, are not used to this new style of advertising. It is almost like it came out of nowhere. Even so, we are extremely interested in it. Just a little while ago advertisements were just for what we needed such as some clothing stores and plumbing companies. Ads started politely informative, telling us straightforward what we needed. Now, they hardened into competition and the country as a whole became more spirited. Some people around here are saying that the soft shell is hardening. These crazy advertisements are extremely exaggerated. As you could imagine, not everyone admires this newly exposed idea. Most, including me, do though. William Retlaw said, “You’ll find words which, like Aladdin’s lamp, can produce fortunes in the twinkling of an eye…” He also expressed that they are “short words that strike” and that they “arrest your eyes.” Another man, William Chenery, expressed, “Advertising, essentially, is the awakening of human desire.” Many companies are starting to hire ad agencies. They have started to become highly successful. These agencies are hired to see what interest people the most and what appeal to people’s emotions. Psychologists are becoming very popular these days with helping inform companies who are making their advertisements of what people are most attracted to. Studies that they have taken have showed that people do not think that money doesn’t matter as much as appealing to our emotions. They have so many “psychological insights” on us that I feel like I am being stalked. One psychologist, Edward

7

Bernays, said that “people don’t want to have things, they have hope for what it might do for them in the future”. These new types of ads are used to deepen our emotions, especially the feelings of fear and happiness. They are also used to make us feel dissatisfied with what we have and make us want the latest model of things. They also warn and threaten us that we would be doomed to failure if we don’t do the things that they tell us to do. These goods and products can also be sold with a picture of a good life. I have to admit, they do a great job of persuading my family and me in this way. Media has significantly improved over the last couple years. For example, color images have started to become more popular. Adding color to images allows them to express more emotion and add more emphasis on certain ideas. The radio has also become more popular recently. Lots of advertisements have taken form of commercially sponsored programs. Some of the agencies have measured the audience rates at each station so that they can decide how much to charge the companies sending in their advertisements. For example, one of our stations that we have on our radio is really popular and almost everyone in town listens to it. This high amount of listeners means that the ads on that station need to pay a lot more than the ones that are on the less popular stations. When my neighbor got a radio, we all went over to their place to listen. It was so cool that all of us saved up for them! Advertisements have recently changed drastically. They have become so that they can bury deep inside of us right away and chang e our feelings on certain ideas. Ads have changed their style, controls everyone's emotions, and spread different ways such as through radio. They are so entertaining to look at and listen to that I keep wanting to read more and more!

The Upcoming of Entertainment Sophia Kouba Ever since World War One, the United States has been; well… a wet blanket. The one and only thing that’s the bee's knees is the radio and movies. The radio and movies has let everyone have fun, gather new information, make more money, and give jobs. Just recently in November 1920 the first radio station WDKA went live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The radio has been such a big hit that 12 million families (⅓ of the population) have been listening ever since and radio sales have reached up to $60 million! But will radios and movies give Americans access to new information? Are there negative aspects to radio and movies? Now, you might be wondering about the silent picture movies that have recently been a big hoot too. Everyone who goes to see a movie enjoys it, they laugh at the comedy and tear up when the hotsy-totsy man breaks up with the perfect girl in the romantic movies. They have recently made a lot of new theatres due to how popular the movies are. Seeing a movie is a family treat, it’s a great family activity for everyone to go see and have fun doing so. The radio is also family friendly, since everyone has the opportunity to listen it. If you’re wondering if buying that movie ticket to the petting pantry is worth it, or going to the nearest store to listen to the radio; I guarantee that they’re good products to buy and you will not be sorry about spending a little extra mazuma. Radios help everyone out in many ways. They give us new information that we would never know of. Sports are now broadcasted on the radio, you can hear the new updates on the score or even if a coach has been fired. Ever since the radio has started advertising music, sports, and other news NBC and CBS sales have grown $842 million a year. That’s a lot of mazuma that the radio companies are making just because people listen in to the radio to hear about everyday canadrumbs. If you’re now currently wondering if you really need a device like a radio, well you do. Radios give us new information and help us relieve our stress everyday. Families and individuals who buy these products are living their best life day to day. The radio and movie companies are offering new jobs, in the meantime they’re also making more money. Movies created many jobs, immigrants who migrated to the United States became actors for movies and films. Radio companies created new jobs because they need people to make and tinker radios called crystal radios. While some citizens are working on the radios others are working for it. Performers perform live on the radio to please the audience and make money while doing so. Radios and movies are good for us because they create new jobs for Americans while the companies are receiving more money at the same time. Although radios and movies are very beneficial and entertaining to today's society there are some slim downfalls. Such as, journalists, newspapers, and other writing businesses were competing with radios. Ever since radios became popular journalists and newspaper companies have been fighting for the audience to read their articles. A downfall for movies and films is that they don’t have sound. You buy your ticket

9

and sit in the petting pantry and just watch there’s no sound to it. Although, Americans still have fun watching the films and listening in to the radio. Radios and movies give Americans access to new information and fun, entertaining things to do. Yes, there are negatives to both of these new devices, but don’t you think there’s more positives than negatives? The new jobs, more money, and better fun is like a rub but for adults and young children. How much enjoyment families and individuals get out of these products is unrealistic; better than anything we’ve had before!

Accelerating the Future Anyce’ Robinson Henry Ford pioneering the assembly line he is making it so that cars made by companies can be created and manufactured quicker and efficiently. It seems like everyone is going out to get the next new thing. So many things are being made in such a little amount of time and because of this it takes less money to make products like cars. As this is happening wages are going up and work hours are going down many companies hate him raising wages, Its causing other businesses to lose workers, Everything is advancing living standards for me and my family plus many other people are growing and people are gaining more money even people who had been barely making money before

Many public authorities are spending a lot of time building libraries, hospital, schools ect new machinery is being invented to speed up assembly lines and reduced the amount of manual labor and it has worked drastically. Because of all this the United States is becoming more complex and up to date with extensive roads and many other new things and i’m starting to like all the new things being built

All of these goods spreading quickly are beginning to spread unevenly across regions its all over the news! While industrial regions are prospering rapidly low prices for agricultural things like corn and wheat are bringing long lasting economic estagraillion. In 1928 radios were able to run on electricity radios that could be left on for longer periods opened opportunities for consumer goods and machines can be left on overnight i would highly advise going out and buying yourself

Movies, Entertaining Americans, or Corrupting Them? Jack Clark

We are in a new era of talking and moving pictures, we can now project a whole new world onto a screen where Americans everywhere can watch from the comfort of a movie theater.Everything is booming right now and movies are no exception. We are in a time of prosperity and wealth and broadway allows everyone to participate. People now have favorite movie stars like Buster Keaton they have a favorite race horse and the movie industry is big bucks like railroads or oil.

Why would anyone even care about talkies and picture shows? Well the answer is everyone favorite thing money. Films are big business there has been over two billion dollars invested in the movie industry. Making movies also brings the business of theaters who bring in millions. People going to see silent pictures that have only become more popular as the people going to see them once a week or more has doubled in only two years. Even the people doing the work are profiting astronomical amounts even women, a popular actress like 14

Lillian Gish can expect four hundred thousand.

So you have heards about how rich investors feel about movies but what about everyday americans, how do they feel about a major change in the entertainment industry? Americans almost unanimously love movies and silent films, the amount of people who watch movies has gone through the roof and not for no reason. Americans can get the feeling of wealth when they step into the lavishly furnished and decorated theaters, even if they are just scraping by. People being able to see their favorite book or play on the screen nearly anywhere is a great invention. With the number of movies being made a year being upwards of eight-hundred there is a huge demand for people to act in the new movies. As you know movie stars can make big bucks, but why? People love actors like Rudolph Valentino because of their skills to convey emotion and action like your favorite book or boxing match. These movie stars are worshipped like gods and receive over thirty-two million letters from fans.

15

So in conclusion the effects of broadway musicals and movies have been overwhelmingly positive for this nation. The economy and the people agree that in these booming times movies and musicals are yet another great invention for this country. It does what other modern things do and flip the world upside down it allows the poor to be entertained like the rich and the another world to be projected onto a screen. America is great and so are movies.
