Normalcy Today What is normalcy, normalcy is life how it always should have been, normal. What do you think of when you think of normal? Today our president, Warren G. Harding, has promised to return us to normalcy. You’ll read about what did he propose what normalcy is, and did it work. So what did he propose. He wanted the country to go back to a more simpler state, where everyone has what they need they all have jobs they all have a car and has enough food. His direct quote “our supreme task is the resumption of our onward normal ways. We must strive for normalcy to reach stability” President Harding's WWI peace statement. He also is more focused on our country more than any other because all the other countries could hate us but if we are superior to them then they will fear us. What really is normalcy. It is peaceful life, things like music clubs speakeasies. President harding wants to put 2 cars in every garage and a chicken in every pot. He also wanted to have cooks housewives teachers blacks clerks errand boys in wall street trying to help there family get money. So why is harding really proposing this. He wants to normalize the US after the war we just had. One way he did this was reducing taxes and give people more money to use to buy food and invest in the stock market to help their families. So i think that president harding has not returned us to normalcy because the stock market is about to crash. People are hungry and they want alcohol to the point where they are getting it illegally.

Red Scare...Making you scared? The red scare is the government responding to the communist threat and the government should continue to crack down on strikes and prevent communism. That a threat was posed by the communists in the United States and became known as the Red Scare. Many people got feared by communists and there was this one general named Mitchell Palmer and he was known for causing the red scare. The government also got crizited and almost got overthrown. The United States got virtually paralyzed by the Red Scare. Many things caused the Red scare to happen and lots of people became feared, and many low wages struck to over half of the workers, and over six thousand men and women got arrested. Many Americans got feared by the anarchists . The main reason the Red Scare started is because of the fear. As the cold war between the Soviet Union and the United States intensified in the late 1940s and early 1950s. As the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States intensified in the late 1940s and early 1950s, hysteria over the perceived threat posed by Communists in the U.S. became known as the Red Scare. Communists were often referred to as “Reds for their allegiance to the red Soviet flag.

The first Red Scare began following the Bolshevik Russian Revolution of 1917 and the intensely patriotic years of World War I as anarchist and left-wing social agitation aggravated national, social, and political tensions. Political scientist, and former member of the Communist Party Murray B. Levin wrote that the Red Scare was "a nationwide anti-radical hysteria provoked by a mounting fear and anxiety that a Bolshevik revolution in America was imminent—a revolution that would change Church, home, marriage, civility, and the American way of Life" Alissa Zelenjakovic

educated because the assembly line requires a worker to repeatedly perform the same task over and over. 8

It ensures MASS production as the name suggests and several large companies we see today are based on this concept. Thus we can say that this was the reason people have lifestyle changes, due to the availability of goods at a faster pace. An example of mass production promoting growth is seen with the rise of Henry Ford's company, the place where you bought your car from last month. The company is based on only mass production and has grown to be what it is today just within the last couple of years. And yes, your wife was right, the goods (durable goods) are much cheaper nowadays than a few years ago because of the reduced production costs. Thus as we can see this final factor also plays an important role in the prosperity of our country. The last few years, the United States has been under the

In conclusion we cannot say that all groups of Americans have benefitted from the republican presidents. The prosperity of our country is the effect of the Republican presidents and has also been coined the term of “Coolidge prosperity” in respect of president Coolidge who has helped businesses grow with his non- interference policy, however in spite of the country growing economically many groups of Americans have not and they continue to live the lives they used to. If we want to have a complete nation prosper we must have all groups of people from all backgrounds prosper first and then only will the US become a stronger nation.

others living in the cities have also experienced this to a large extent. However, the farmers of the country have been at a slow decline in terms of industrialization and “the boom” we felt has not reached them as yet. Their lives are still the same as they were before and they don’t have access to electricity. The middle-class workers of the community have had a positive impact from the boom, with salary increases and less working hours. The rich executives of society have not only benefited but also seen major changes in their lives, they have become even richer and their large companies provide us all stocks to buy and exchange.

Republicans…..YES?...NO? Our presidents in the last few years have had several impacts on the US as a nation. They have had effects on our country like no presidents of the past because of the developed nation we live in today, however, the positive feel of this effect isn’t uniform and is only for the people living in cities who are rich enough to buy all the new things available. Our country's farmers, workers, and low-income earners have all been left behind in the “boom” we feel in the cities. Our presidents have not been able to help the farmers of the nation, haven’t been able to provide the entire country with electricity and due to the non-interference policy of our presidents with economics, there are monopolies today have established control over the nation. President Coolidge has instead increased tariff prices and not even agreed to join the league of nations. Thus proving that all of our presidents have been leaving the nation with a negative impact.

The farmers of our nation have been left behind and instead of the economic growth, we have felt in the cities they have been declining in economically. They still have the lives we had 10 years ago- no electricity, no technology to make farming easier and still the same Christian beliefs. During the war, we had our farmers did very well and sold food to a lot of European countries, however now that the war has decreased the European farmers can go back to growing their grains. So know our farmers have a lot of goods now and no work to do. This has to lead to economic decline and our presidents have not been able to help these farmers, they have not even tried due to all the policies of non- interference that prevent them from doing so. Our presidents today have ignored the needs of us citizens as a whole and have lost their voice. Thus proving them to have a negative impact on the country as a WHOLE.

All of the presidents in our time have been republican and demonstrated very similar policies. Issues are not greatly overlooked by the Democrats, who are also divided and play major roles in the political system of the time. As in today many of the recent presidents and the one we have now is not really doing anything like ignoring many of the things we could do to make the United States better.

One president that tried to help low-income people and frankly people with any income was Warren G. Harding. Harding tried to give people a normal life and help them out by giving them products and goods to help them live. He helped get rid of national debt by cutting taxes. But there also have been problems with his administration. Like the fact that his cabinet accepted bribes from oil companies to drill on federal land. This was also the first time a U.S. cabinet member served jail time. 11

One way that they have succeeded is in 1920 laborers were doing well in world 1 because the countries armies needed a lot of goods. Overall, labor unions are not being very successful right now. Many government rules protecting unions and child even pass. Working conditions generally got worse instead of helping workers the government focuses on prohibition Thus we can say that this Republican presidents have not benefited the country but added to the current issues we face, our citizens have had to struggle to grow and this isn't a sign of equal growth. The Republican presidents haven't succeeded. COLE, ALISSA, ADVIKA and ALEX
