N.D. In The Despite a disappointing spring track season last year , over the summer the runners came together to prepare for Cross Country and did so with such determination that they finished C.V .c. champs with an overall 19-2 record and a 14-0 record in the C.V .c.. The team placed higher in the state finals than any other cross country team in N.D. history . Under Dave Hoch, Mercer County Coach of the Year, they defeated Steinert, Ewing, Princeton, and Hightstown, which had previously dominated the County in this sport. The team was young, but experienced co-captains and seniors Tom Griffith, Carlie Bentz, Phil Downey , and Ken Markman led the team . Sophomores Chris Briemann and Carl Powell brought home first C.V.c. honors. The girls cross country team also had a super season under captain Maeve Cannon. Sophomore Sue T ejeski broke the school course record, and linda Grochala was voted Most Valuable Player on the team. The winter track team was coached by Mr. Anthony Genovesi. In the C.V.C. championships, the boys came in third while the girls came in fourth . Griffith, Bentz, Markman, and Downey led the team once again. The Spring Track team looked forward to a successful season. Leading the team for the last time were seniors Griffith, Bentz, Markman, Downey and Ken Gallo.
