Introduction Roald Amundsen was a Norwegian explorer who was the first person to the South Pole.

Young Life Roald Amundsen was born on 16th July 1872 Borge Norway.
Amundsen admired A polar explorer called Jhon Franklin, and wanted to be a polar explorer too. At the age of 21 Amundsen became a polar explorer.

Adult life
When Amundsen was a adult he wanted to be the first person to go to the North Pole but a man named Robert Peary went to the North Pole first. So Amundsen changed his mind and wanted to be the first person to go to the South Pole. Amundsen rode a ship, called Fram when Amundsen went to the South Pole he met a man called Robert Falcon Scott, so Scott and Amundsen had a race at the end Amundsen put the Norwegian flag in the center and finished but unfortunately Scott died in a tent because of hunger.

About the journey In windy day in his journey the weather was Freezing. Amundsen took 5 men, 52 Sley dog and 3 tons of supplies. Almost at the end of the journey one of Amundsen's team mate fell inside a cliff but fortunately, Amundsen, his 3 teammates that didn't fall in the cliff and the Sley dogs reascued the teammate that fell in a cliff.
North Pole Also Amundsen was the first man to go across the North Pole with a plane.
