“Where it is always about good news!”

Tsunami Takes Over Tomball By Brenda A. Graff

The Mustard Seed Kitchen is a little treasure hidden away in Tomball. Zeke Ramirez, and Judy Bergin had a mustard seed of faith and then some to open up this delightful restaurant. Both had known each other for many years, and worked in the restaurant / catering business. The opportunity came one day as a surprise, and much answered prayer when the former owner of their establishment decided to close down, re-birthing a new restaurant that has blessed many in our community.

Judy Bergin, Co-Owner and 59 year old Mother of four, ages 30-36, worked the fast-food industry for ten years. She moved from Michigan in 1982 establishing roots in Spring, Texas. Her love of baking for over thirty years developed exquisite recipes proving remarkable results in the catering and custom cake business. There is no mistaking that this creative Chef was inbred with the genetics of good cooking! Her mom, Virginia Arends, was a substitute Chef on cooking shows in the 1950’s. What is it about this oftentimes tiresome work that keeps you captivated to continue?” He smiled, and said… “It’s peace…I am most at peace when I am in the kitchen.” I am sure there are many out there shaking their heads… “What?” Like most of us busy moms we probably find our kitchen the most chaotic scene in the house. I know that’s how I end up eating at restaurants much of the time, to escape the doom room as I call it. Zeke, a former Chef at Brio Tuscan Grill, The Woodlands takes his menu making very seriously. This incredible “chef de cuisine”, is at heart a (meat and potatoes) man. When he started The Mustard Seed Kitchen, he figured that because he loved meat and potatoes so did everyone else. He knew his restaurant location would draw in many women...so he focused on salads at first. Then realized that there were plenty of women that love meat and potatoes too, but designed in a more delicate way. The panini way! He has me sold out! I had never had a panini before much less knew how to spell it. When I tasted their Roast Beef Panini with Au jus, I was speechless because I couldn’t stop shoving it in my mouth! It was incredible! So good I had to go back for more the next day. Their salads are also delec-
