This unit is located within a community (Greys Ferry) that provides opportunities for outreach and growth. It has an after-school program and a senior citizen program, as well as hosts the Police Athletic League (PAL) program. Reed House (a single room occupancy site) is attached to the facility by a long hallway with a door that remains locked, as access is via the front door of the facility. Residents are encouraged to attend worship and participate in the adult programming offered. The specialized Laotian ministry is also located within this facility.

This unit is strong and has a rich heritage of Salvationism, musicianship, character building activity, worship, educational programming, and community outreach. The facility is shared with the Philadelphia Korean Corps.

This unit consists of a strong, gifted Korean Congregation that is highly favored within the Philadelphia Korean community and has an international appeal to visitors from Korea throughout the year. The facility is shared with the Philadelphia Citadel Corps.
Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center

This unit is a thriving, vibrant testament to the significant financial investment of Joan Kroc to the ministry of The Salvation Army. It is ideally located at a crossroads of public transportation and neighborhoods that participate in Corps life, as well as the added benefit of Kroc membership. Kroc members have access to expansive engagement opportunities, such as spiritual development, fitness, aquatics, education, recreation, and even a horticulture zone!

This unit is a traditional Salvation Army congregation that is close-knit in socialization and expression of worship. It is in an area of the city that has abundant resources to the neighborhood, though, as The Salvation Army has provided outreach of services in the community, has hidden pockets of poverty. The Corps is determined to creatively and positively service those in need, as well as assist the community in understanding there are those who are “invisible” right amongst them. Programs include music education, senior citizen socialization, and homeless outreach.

Predominantly Spanish speaking, this unit is a beehive of activity and tremendous growth. Soldiers and entire families comprise a typical attendance of 200 or more on a Sunday morning. Programming and community outreach occur daily, including mobile feeding and ministry to those trapped within the opioid epidemic, food distribution, education, and senior outreach. A portion of the New Day Anti-Human Trafficking program operates out of this facility.

This unit is committed to evangelism and provides multiple forms of outreach, such as free legal counsel, a senior citizen program, feeding program, youth programs, community center, and an afterschool program. The Corps compassionately serves as a beacon of light for the community.

This unit is teeming with community outreach, such as free legal counsel, food assistance, senior citizen, sports, and spiritual programming. There is a strong biblical principal emphasis, with dynamic worship services. It is a location for the Police Athletic League (PAL) program. The Corps is committed to serving as a place of love, hope, and peace.

Pathway of Hope
Coordinated by & housed out of the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, but available to all. This program provides intensive case management services to families with children under the age of 18, both traditional and non-traditional family structures, that desire to break the cycle of crisis. Staff and families focus on a family’s capabilities and raise hope by empowering them to overcome barriers on the path to stability. Families set their own goals, and The Salvation Army partners with them to provide the resources needed to accomplish each one.
Red Shield Family Residence

This program provides long-term emergency housing, and it serves as the after-hours reception site. It has a capacity of 119 residents. During afterhours emergency care, it serves an average of 3 to 10 families nightly. The arts-based, trauma-sensitive program for youth ages 6 to 18 is a key component of its ministry to families.
Eliza Shirley House

This program provides long-term emergency housing. It has a capacity of 100. It is a place where families can find rest and a fresh start, all with support of trauma-informed staff.

This program provides permanent supportive housing. It has the capacity to service 66 formerly homeless individuals with a documented disability, such as drug/alcohol abuse and mental health issues.
Shelter Plus Care

This program provides permanent supportive housing through 26 scattered sites. It services 26 formerly homeless families. The head of the household has a disability—generally drug, alcohol, and/or mental health. The program is part of the local Continuum of Care funding for rent subsidy only. There is an additional Continuum of Care grant to provide supportive services to this program and Reed House.

New Day Drop-In Center (NDDI)

This program is a drop-in center for femaleidentifying individuals being exploited by sex trafficking in the Kensington area. It is a safe, traumainformed space where individuals can shower, receive food and clothing, and assistance through intensive case management. This site is a Medicaid billable service location through a partnership with the City of Philadelphia’s Department of Behavioral Health.
New Day New Home (NDNH) Confidential location
This program is a residence for survivors of human trafficking.
New Day Police Assisted Diversion (PAD)

This program provides a trauma-informed, clientcentered, and collaborative program for adults exploited by the commercial sex industry in Philadelphia. PAD is a Pre-Arrest Diversion model, which involves a unique, active collaboration between Law Enforcement, Social Service Providers, and Local Government.

Learning Zones
Multiple Locations
This program provides after-school academic education, enrichment, and workshops for students and parents. STEM is the base offering. Divided amongst multiple locations, there is a capacity for 315 students. Also, the program runs through the summer for 6–8 weeks.
GED Multiple Locations
This program provides instruction on the General Education Diploma test. It services adults 18+, as well as high school students who have dropped out of school. The course provides instruction in English, Math, History, and Science in preparation to take the GED exam. Students are welcome to return to each session until they pass the exam.

This program provides spiritual, social, and emotional assistance for men and women struggling with alcohol and drug addiction, and who have lost the ability to cope with their problems and provide for themselves. It provides residential housing, work, and group and individual therapy, all in a clean, wholesome environment. The physical and spiritual care program participants receive prepares them to re-enter society and return to gainful employment. Many of those who have been rehabilitated are reunited with their families and resume a normal life.

Developmental Disabilities Program

This program supports individuals with developmental disabilities. It provides residential support and has assisted hundreds to find meaningful work and/or participate in community life. The staff are highly trained and experienced in providing support to people with a variety of needs in diverse, community-based settings. The goal is to enable people with disabilities to live as citizens in their local communities, in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. We are committed to serving the community by recognizing the gifts each person brings to their home and community, and by supporting efforts to achieve their own potential.

Emergency Disaster Services

This program provides emergency disaster relief and assistance, at a moment’s notice, during times of local, national, and international disaster. Locally, this office organizes, implements, and leads The Salvation Army’s emergency disaster response within Greater Philadelphia, including food and beverage, emotional and spiritual care, disaster social services, and emergency communications. In addition, it coordinates The Salvation Army’s emergency disaster response within the Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware communities. While each disaster creates its own unique circumstances and special needs, The Salvation Army disaster relief efforts focus on seven core services: Food and Hydration, Clean up and Restoration, Emotional and Spiritual Care, Donations Management, Disaster Social Services, Emergency Shelter and Emergency Communication (SATERN). These services may be modified based on the magnitude of the disaster and adapted to meet the specific needs of the community.
