Preface
Immer mehr Menschen suchen heute durch das Musizieren einen Ausgleich zu den Anforderungen des Alltags. So enthält dieses Heft sowohl Musik, die eher positive Empfindungen hervorruft und durch einfache Harmonien und besinnliche Momente der Seele gut tut, als auch die vielfältigen Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten des Klaviers erkundet: Ausgelassenheit, Trost, Freude, Sehnsucht, Mitgefühl, Trauer, Wut, Ekstase und auch mystische Stimmungen können entstehen. Außerdem gehe ich – wenn auch mit etwas Ironie – auf die Vorliebe vieler Klavierspieler für das Genre Filmmusik ein. Aus dem reichen Schatz der klassischen Klavierliteratur schöpfend, beziehen sich einige der Kompositionen direkt auf ein bestimmtes Vorbild. Dadurch knüpfen sie an häufig vorhandene Hörerfahrungen an und wecken Neugier auf das meist schwerere Original, dessen Erarbeitung durch die Hinführung jedoch deutlich erleichtert wird. Oft geben die Titel sowie knappe programmatische Hinweise an, welche Stimmung und Empfindung in dem jeweiligen Stück ausgedrückt wird. Solche verbalen Einstiegshilfen wecken – anders als rein dynamische Angaben und Tempobezeichnungen – innere Assoziationen, die zu einer differenzierten Agogik und Klanglichkeit anregen und das Spiel lebendiger werden lassen. Dabei können die Einspielungen (zum Download auf www.breitkopf.com) als Anregung dienen, ohne einer individuellen Interpretation im Wege zu stehen. Für die anregende Zusammenarbeit danke ich meinem Lektor Friedhelm Pramschüfer, ohne den die vorliegende Sammlung nicht in dieser Vielfältigkeit entstanden wäre, sowie der Klavierpädagogin Sigrid Naumann für einige wichtige Hinweise.
More and more people are looking for a way to offset the demands of everyday life by making music. This book thus contains music that evokes positive feelings and does good to the soul through simple harmonies and introspective moments, but that also explores the multi-faceted expressive possibilities of the piano: pieces that can convey exuberance, comfort, joy, longing, compassion, mourning, anger and ecstasy, but also mystical moments. Furthermore, I have taken into account – albeit with a touch of irony – the predilection of many piano aficionados for the genre of film music. Culled from the rich stocks of classical piano literature, some of the pieces refer directly to a specific model. This way they are linked together with frequent listening experiences and awaken one’s curiosity about the generally more difficult original work, whose preparation is considerably simplified through such guidance. The titles and the succinct programmatic annotations often suggest the mood and feelings that are expressed in the piece in question. Such verbal aids – other than purely dynamic indications and tempo markings – awaken inner associations that stimulate diversified agogics and sonorities, and infuse more spirit into one’s playing. The recordings (for download on www.breitkopf.de) can serve as a source of inspiration, but should not stand in the way of a personal interpretation. For his rewarding collaboration I thank my editor Friedhelm Pramschüfer, without whom the present collection would not have taken on such variety, as well as the piano pedagogue Sigrid Naumann for some very important tips.

Immer mehr Menschen suchen heute durch Musizieren einen Ausgleich zu den Anforderungen des Alltags. Willkommen sind dabei meist Stücke, die poetisch besinnliche Stimmungen entstehen lassen und durch einfache Harmonien der Seele gut tun. Aus diesem Ansatz heraus entstand ein Großteil der vorliegenden Kompositionen. Darüber hinaus werden die vielfältigen Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten des Klaviers erkundet: Ausgelassenheit, Trost, Freude, Sehnsucht und Mitgefühl, Trauer, Wut, Ekstase und auch mystische Momente können entstehen. Kurze programmatische Hinweise in den Noten, wie auch die Titel und das Hören der Audiotracks wecken innere Assoziationen, die das Spiel lebendiger werden lassen. Und vielleicht motiviert die Möglichkeit, beim Musizieren Gefühle auszudrücken, auch zum Erweitern der eigenen klaviertechnischen Fähigkeiten. More and more people are looking for a way to offset the demands of everyday life by making music. Particularly welcome are pieces that often evoke poetic, meditative moods and are good for the soul through their simple harmonies. The majority of the pieces in this book arose from this premise. They also explore the multi-faceted expressive possibilities of the piano as well: they can convey exuberance, comfort, joy, longing, compassion, mourning, anger and ecstasy, but also mystical moments. Short programmatic annotations in the musical text, along with the titles and listening to the audio tracks, awaken inner associations that infuse more spirit into one’s playing. And the possibility of expressing feelings while playing can also be a motivation to expand one’s own piano-technical resources.
