COMBINED CADET FORCE
Welcome from the Headmaster Welcome to the first edition of Inside Bredon for this academic year. This term has certainly been a busy one, as I hope you’ll see in the following pages. Highlights this half term have seen us placed in Talk Education’s Top 250 UK Prep and Senior Schools, we held our first Bredon School Inter House Steeplechase and we won prizes at the Moreton Agriculture Show with our livestock. Our extra-curricular offer continues to grow with the launch of a new horse riding initiative with The Elms Preparatory School, numerous sporting successes have been achieved through a revised fixture list, our Combined Cadet Force continues to go from strength to strength and we have finally received our official sign off from the Ministry of Defence for our own Bredon School contingent. Our House system has quickly become a huge part of life at Bredon already and

pupils have really embraced being a member of either Jarrett, Sharp or Thomas. It has been fantastic to watch some healthy competition developing between the three Houses, with Thomas currently holding the House Cup. The Housemasters - Mr Cradock, Mr Phillips and Mr Richardson - are doing a fantastic job of shaping their House’s ethos and the next Inside Bredon will contain more information about what pupils in each House have been doing this term. For this edition, we are sharing the history behind why our Houses have the names they have. Another whole school addition this term has been the Friday Achievement Assembly. This Assembly celebrates pupils’ achievements during the past week by recognising those who have made individual progress or had particular success with a piece of work or activity / sport both inside and outside of school, or who have shown effort above and beyond what we would normally expect. I would like to congratulate all the pupils who have received awards so far this term. New for this academic year, I hope you have been enjoying the weekly updates from our Junior School. Our Juniors have enjoyed success on the sports fields, have been honing their skills in cookery lessons and working really hard in their Forest School and Farm lessons. With all Junior lessons taught using multi-sensory techniques, there is always fun to be had, as well as hard work! In the last edition of Inside Bredon we said we would let you know further details of our whole school Christmas production and I am delighted to be able to do so. Pupils

and staff will be taking part in ‘The Beauty and the Beast’ - with acting roles, staging, lighting, props and costume jobs all available, there should be exciting roles for many of our interested pupils. This year’s production will take place on 7th and 8th December, with ticket details available later this term. I would like to take this opportunity to thank three members of staff for their hard work and the support they have provided to pupils throughout their time at Bredon. Mr Lister leaves us today, moving to the Lake District to take up a new position at an Outdoor Adventure Centre on Lake Windermere; Miss Hodkinson starts her own exciting journey as her adoption leave commences, and Miss Lamb leaves us to start her maternity leave today - I wish all three the very best. I would also like to welcome Mr Perry as the new Land Based Studies teacher whilst Miss Lamb is on maternity leave. He has already proven a hit with the pupils as they begin to look at the school tractor and farm machinery in more detail! I hope you will enjoy reading this edition of Inside Bredon and that it gives you a great insight into life at Bredon so far this academic year. I wish you all a wonderful half term. Best wishes
