Sixth Form at Bredon School offers pupils an exciting and stimulating environment for their next stage of education. Our wide ranging curriculum, inspiring environment and specialist learning support helps pupils to grow in independence and confidence.

Pupils are encouraged to take ownership of their own learning journey with our three pathways which encompass a wide selection of courses. Qualifications offered include A Levels, unique vocational qualifications and leading professional qualifications.
The co-curricular offering at Bredon School compliments the Sixth Form experience.
Activities on offer include the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, Combined Cadet Force, as well as the award-winning Sixth Form work experience programme. These activities allow pupils to flourish and grow outside of the conventional classroom.
Bredon offers pupils the combination of a truly individualised approach and inspiring learning environment.
At Bredon we have developed a Sixth Form offering that enables pupils to individually tailor their learning journey. Pupils have the opportunity to try new subjects, alongside traditional academic options.
Choose from over 25 courses
Pupils can choose courses from a selection of over twenty five different subjects. Each qualification is taught by dedicated and forward thinking teaching staff who are able to tailor their teaching to different pupils’ learning styles.

Small average class sizes
With small average class sizes across our Sixth Form pupils gain greater value in learning focussed on their strengths and continued development.

We offer three pathways to enable every pupil to choose qualifications to suit their own strengths. The Academic, Vocational and Professional Pathways include over twenty five qualifications.

Academic Pathway
Within the Academic Pathway a variety of traditional A Levels are offered to pupils including: English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and many more, leading to University.
Vocational Pathway
Our Vocational Pathway includes: BTEC, NCFEs and City and Guilds qualifications in subjects such as Travel and Tourism, Sports, Photography, Mechanical Engineering and Hospitality and Catering, leading to University and Apprenticeships.
Professional Pathway
The Professional Pathway includes qualifications such as CISCO, Business Studies, Animal Care, Agriculture and Uniformed Protective Services, leading to jobs in IT and the Armed Forces and Police.

The Sixth Form enrichment programme includes the Wainwright Lecture series. Once a week, Sixth Form pupils receive an enriching lecture, display or workshop from outside guests. Past lecturers have included Atlantic rowers to Norland nannies and experts on the Holocaust. Each visitor is warmly welcomed, and adds a tremendous amount of value to our pupils’ diverse and growing values, attitudes and behaviours.
The Sixth Form students are given the opportunity to support and enrich others through the peer mentoring programme. There are also opportunities to build and develop leadership skills such as leading the anti-bullying ambassadors group, before then applying for the leadership roles such as a school prefect and Head of House. Pupils are supported within their leadership roles by the Bredon school Senior Leadership Team.
Support and individual guidance is provided throughout the school at Bredon by form tutors and Houseparents. Sixth Form students in addition have the dedicated Head of Sixth Form, who can explore the nuances of each individual pathway, the next steps academically and pastoral encouragement to be able to get each individual to the best place for them when they finish Bredon.

Sixth Form pupils benefit from their own dedicated area within Bredon School, which includes a Sixth Form Boarding House, Common Room and Study Room. These areas are for the sole use of Bredon Sixth Form pupils to encourage independence whilst being able to access support from others as required.

Classrooms sit within the main school which ensures pupils can learn in the best way possible. Whereas the Study Room allows pupils to study without interruptions and ensures they can dedicate time to their subjects.
By being away from the main school areas, with their own space, the sixth form as a group can explore how to be independent, and grow into young adults, whilst being able to focus on their studies, and not be distracted by the adolescence of the younger year groups.
Our unique offering is reflected by our three pathways. Our Academic, Vocational and Professional subject choices enable pupils to select qualifications which match their own unique skills, aspirations and learning styles.

With dyslexia specialist teaching, we are experts in delivering learning in an engaging, active and exciting way that ignites curiosity and creativity in all areas of the school.
At Bredon School, learning extends beyond the classroom. Many departments, including Farm, Outdoor Education, Sport and CCF, have an enriched experiential curriculum because we believe it will help you better connect with the theories and knowledge they learn in the classroom.

Far from the 9am to 5pm community, the boarding provision at Bredon ensures that our pupils are kept busy from the moment they rise in the morning to the moment their heads hit the pillow in the evening.

When not engaged with their comprehensive academic and extra-curricular timetables during the school day, boarders are encouraged to take part in a wide range of after-school activities. These range from cookery to sport, from arts and crafts to music, from computing to electronics, to name a few. Boarders also have supervised prep sessions each evening.
Weekends are filled with an extensive recreational programme featuring activities such as bug boarding, laser tag, go-karting, crazy golf, paintballing, swimming, bowling and cinema trips, as well as shopping in local towns and cities. Activities are varied, appealing to both boys and girls, however special girls-only or boys-only activities are not unheard of, for example the girls-only spa and pamper party!
Our wide-ranging outdoor education offer has always been a hallmark of a Bredon School education, encouraging pupils to think independently, to use their initiative, exercise problem solving and improve team working skills.
Exceptional facilities
Making the most of our 84-acre rural setting pupils have the chance to learn in an outdoor environment, be that on the school farm, climbing wall, shooting range or across our stunning campus.

Beyond Campus
Our qualified Outdoor Education instructors regularly take pupils off-site to experience camping, caving, mountaineering and trekking enhancing our pupils’ understanding for the environment and surroundings.
The vision of the CCF at Bredon School is one of support, development and empowerment. Our overarching goal is to foster the development of personal responsibility, leadership and self discipline, while instilling belief into the cadets that they can achieve, thereby enabling courage and building resilience.

Every cadet uses the CCF as a vehicle to build self confidence, broaden their horizons and learn new skills while having fun.
To assist with the development of our cadets, our training is centred around a set of Core values which are, Courage, Discipline, Respect for others, Integrity, Loyalty, Selfless Commitment. By promoting these Core Values they will enable our cadets to build resilience, be self-reliant, better communicators, improve confidence and promote responsibility, thus preparing for life after Bredon.
Some of the opportunities and activities our cadets participate in include, fieldcraft, foot drill, first aid, navigation, skill at arms (shooting), physical training and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. In addition to this, our cadets have the opportunity to attend various adventurous training such as rock climbing, mountaineering, kayaking, skiing, mountain biking and more.

We believe it is our responsibility to provide unique and applied learning opportunities for each and every cadet, as well as to foster meaningful and reciprocal opportunities.
UCAS application
Pupils who wish to continue onto University are supported throughout their application to UCAS. The application process starts in earnest in the Lent term of Year 12.

Pupils are encouraged to explore their options through Unifrog and arranged visits to numerous University Fairs. The Head of Sixth Form assists pupils to complete their applications to UCAS.
Our small class sizes ensure teachers can advise and assist pupils in choosing their next steps following their time at Bredon. Individual support is provided for every pupil to give the very best opportunities.

Pupils are encouraged to pursue their dreams and follow the path that’s right for them. Whether it’s a place at a university, an apprenticeship with CISCO, or studying overseas.
