Guide to Philanthropy

At Breck, being part of our community means showing up — for our students, our teachers, and our shared values.

We’re all in is more than a theme; it’s a call to invest in what we believe: that every child deserves an education rooted in compassion, excellence, inclusivity, and respect.

When you make a philanthropic gift to Breck, you affirm your place in this community and power the experiences that shape lives every day. Every gift matters, regardless of size.

Together, we make Breck stronger — for today and for the future. If you’re ready to join us by being all in, read on.

We’re all in.

Community matters.

Community matters.

Community isn’t just a word at Breck — it’s an action, something we build, moment by moment, through our shared commitments. It takes all of us, working together with integrity and purpose, to create the environment where confident, curious, and socially responsible learners thrive. Your philanthropic support is essential to making that vision a reality.

Every Breck experience is by philanthropy.

Investments in programming, faculty development, facilities, and financial assistance help us deliver on the promise of a Breck education.

These enhancements expand what’s possible, ensuring that every Breck student thrives.

The gap between revenue and the actual cost of educating a Breck student is:

$3,750 per student

The generosity of our Breck community helps bridge the gap between tuition and the true cost of a Breck education — ensuring each student has access to the depth, breadth, and care that define the Breck experience. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. When you give, you affirm your belief in Breck’s mission and help sustain it for the future.

Parent giving is often a key metric in grant applications. When you make a gift, it helps us unlock other philanthropic opportunities in support of our students.

Philanthropy many forms.

Philanthropy takes forms.

Within the Breck community, we believe that generosity is not one-size-fits-all. Philanthropy can mean giving your time, talent, or treasure — each vital to the strength of our community.

Whether you’re volunteering at school events, lending your professional expertise, or making a financial contribution, your generosity lifts up our entire community.

Some donors also support Breck through in-kind donations — gifts of goods or services that enrich our programs throughout the year. These gifts, like monetary contributions, are often taxdeductible.

You might also connect us with individuals, businesses, or foundations who share our values and want to invest in Breck’s mission. These philanthropic connections can open powerful doors for our school.

Impact Timing

The Breck Fund directly supports our operating budget, making an immediate impact on students, faculty, and staff. It helps fund essentials like professional development for teachers, technological upgrades in the classroom, and enhanced student programming. Each year, we ask parents to prioritize a gift to the Breck Fund to help sustain the full Breck experience.

Year-round: Launch (fall); Give Day (November); Cookiegrams (spring)

The Bash is Breck’s annual gala and community celebration. While each year features a unique theme, all funds raised support the school’s operational budget for the year ahead. Past Bash themes include Performing Arts, Science, and Athletics. Spring

Throughout the year, the Breck Advancement Team and the Board of Trustees Advancement Committee partner with donors who wish to direct their support to areas that align with Breck’s mission and vision. Recent examples include investments in key roles within the Peter Clark Center for Mind Brain Education and the Melrose Center for Equity and Leadership. Other donors have supported athletic signage to help build school spirit across campus. Ongoing

Some donors choose to create lasting impact by giving to Breck’s endowment, which supports students for generations to come through either unrestricted or designated funds. Each year, Breck draws 4 percent of its total endowment.

Every gift matters.
