A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT

IwouldliketostartAugustoffwithaverywarm welcome to our newly hired general manager, Curtis Hullick He has only had a week with us so far, but has shown himself to be fearless in divinginandtakingonthisnewroleheadon.I look forward to the Chamber benefiting from his extensive knowledge in financial planning and budgeting, government relations, and policydevelopment

Curtis’ previous experience with strategic planning initiatives comes at a valuable time, as the Brandon Chamber is set to develop its next three-year strategic plan on August 28, 2025 This will be a full day session with our boardofdirectorsandfacilitatedwiththegoal of setting out the direction of the Chamber over the next 3 terms. We look forward to making this strategic plan available to all membersoncefinished

The changing of the calendar also brought us a new deadline for Tariff threats from the US and Trump administration. This increase in tariff rates to 35% for non-CUSMA rated goods was extremely disappointing and hard to take We will continue to advocate on behalf of our members and provide feedback and “real life information”togovernmentofficials.

The executive team has a meeting scheduled with Jamie Moses, Minister of Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation to discuss how Manitoba plans to mitigate these new tariffs and help look for solutions as we move forward.

I wish you all a very happy and healthy August! And just because please enjoy a picture of my pup Louie living his best life and enjoyinghis“summerbod”.
