‘Process-Driven’ Organizations

With nearly 50% of respondents having automated key processes and implemented process mining techniques within their organizations, these businesses are well on their way to becoming process-driven. In addition, since the order-to-cash process (also known as O2C) is a critical focus area for the C-level in an increasingly digital economy, it is positive to see 30% of respondents recognize this, and prioritize O2C and other similar processes.

By monitoring and highlighting deviations from that standard process, businesses can increase order and invoice handling speed and efficiency. After all, the more efficient and accurate the process, the better a company’s operational performance, customer satisfaction, and cash flow management. In practice, this means:

• Improving on-time deliveries and therefore increasing customer satisfaction, through early identification of orders at risk of late delivery • Accelerating end-to-end throughput time, by highlighting delays and bottlenecks • Enhancing responsiveness to customer requests, due to transparent fulfillment processes

For the minority of respondents whose organizations have not yet started their process transformation journey, it can be challenging to know where to begin, let alone achieve results quickly. For these respondents, as well as anyone contemplating transforming their business processes, the very first step is simple: documenting the “as-is” state of an organization’s business processes.

Once the current state of an organization’s processes is documented and easily accessible (to both decision-makers and frontline workers), the inefficiencies and areas to improve within the processes are far easier to identify and resolve. After all, you can’t fix what you can’t see!
