INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the 16th International Cricketers v International Footballers Golf Event which once again is being played in the beautiful surroundings of the Algarve. Portugal has been our home for this event now for 15 years and we are looking forward very much to returning to Pinheiros Altos golf club on Wednesday 25th September for the opening round of Texas Scramble. Thursday will be the first day of the International Cricketers v International Footballers Competition and will be visiting Villa Sol Golf Club for the first time on Thursday 26th before finishing as per usual at San Lorenzo on Friday 27th. I would like to thank everyone for their understanding of the situation regarding San Lorenzo and their lack of facilities after the fire at the club house in 2022. Unfortunately, we are still having to use temporary facilities there, but the course has been our final round course for all these years that we just couldn’t play somewhere else.
Unfortunately, some things though do change. Ian Digby better known as Diggers to all of us has decided to retire, Id personally like to thank him for all the help and support he has given to us all over the years and I’m sure we wish him well in his retirement and for the future in whatever he chooses to do. This event is only made possible by the people who support it by entering teams and making the effort to come year on year. Without this support the event wouldn’t be one of, if not the best golf event on the circuit so our thanks go out to all the teams for that continued support.
We have been very appreciative of our sponsors GOTO for several years now and id like to thank Nigel Hoath the CEO of the GOTO group for his continued support and commitment he shows each year to help make the tournament such a success.
Our thanks also go out to the cricketers and footballers who continually show up each year to play in the teams. However, after last year’s tournament was won by the footballers by a comfortable margin selection may be needed to be looked at from the cricketers as the footballers lead 9-7 in total and the cricket lads really need a win this year to catch up in the series.
We look forward to meeting up with everyone again and to making some great memories again at this year’s event and as always may the best team win.

THE GAME
Texas Scramble
Each player drives off, and the team chooses the preferred drive. Each player then takes their next shot from that spot. NO NEARER THE HOLE. Repeat the process until holed. On the green, place at the exact marked spot of the chosen shot for the put. Each player must record 4 drives each, One of which must be on a par 3.
The International Cricketers v International Footballers Cup
The Cup will take place over 2 days. Villa Sol and San Lorenzo course scores will count Towards the overall winners. Scoring will be on a Stableford Points Systen Best Two to Count.
Celebrity Cricketers and Footballers must keep their score for the Cricketer v Footballers Competition.
