As the opportunities at the PIE Center continue to grow and expand, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for the ongoing support of our stakeholders. The PIE Center is more than just a place of learning it’s a bridge between education, industry, and our community, preparing students for real-world success

Throughout our first two years in operation, we’ve seen incredible achievements, from students earning industry certifications to securing internships and career opportunities. Our partnerships with local businesses and organizations continue to provide invaluable hands-on experiences, ensuring that students leave PIE with the skills they need to thrive.

As we continue to look ahead, we are excited about new programs, expanded partnerships, and innovative learning experiences that will further enhance workforce development in our region. Your involvement whether as parents, business partners, or community supporters—plays a crucial role in our students' success.

American Uniform closed and moved offshore leaving a structurally strong, well-built shelled facility Bradley County Schools along with the county commission and regional partners retrofitted this site to continue to serve our community with economic and workforce development for future generations

In July 2017, the Bradley County Commission purchased a 284,000 square foot facility on thirteen acres known as a Brownfield property and previously known as the American Uniform Building.

The PIE Innovation Center finished construction in the Core area in January 2023. Then, on November 1, 2023, history was made as PIE Innovation Center was officially opened

WHAT IS THE PIE CENTER?

The Partnerships in Industry and Education (PIE) Innovation Center is a regional educational facility that addresses the growing need to better prepare students for postsecondary careers and workforce opportunities This unprecedented, innovative center, the first of its kind in Tennessee, is located in the former American Uniform plant on Parker Street in Cleveland, TN. With business, industry, secondary and postsecondary educational opportunities, and nonprofit services under one roof, students are provided with the tools, education, and life skills needed to succeed.

The PIE Innovation Center creates an intensive, strategic student experience through collaboration with business, industry, and nonprofit organizations. COMPASS

A compass is a tool that provides direction The Compass at PIE is an educational training center and an office complex housing Bradley County Employees that will provide students with college and career direction There is also a large meeting space for the staff, students and the community

WACKER COMMONS

Wacker Commons is a unique multi-use facility located in the PIE Innovation Center, providing an event center to the Cleveland and Bradley County Region Wacker Commons is the largest event center in the area besides local churches It is home to STEM Challenges, Career Days, and other exposure events for our local schools

CORE

The definition of core is central to the existence or character of someone or something CORE at PIE in the centralized location where the “magic” happens CTE programs are housed in CORE These programs provide dual enrollment opportunities, industry certifications, and provide students with career ready skills that allow them to enter directly into the workforce

MEDIUM/HEAVY TRUCKS

The Medium-Heavy Truck Technology Program is offered to the students of Bradley, Polk, and Walker Valley The program is a Tennessee College of Applied Technologies of Athens program and students leave high school with postsecondary credentials

TECHNOLOGY CENTER

The Technology Center is home to the Bradley County Schools Innovation Coaches The Innovation Coaches provide instructional technology training and support to all students and teachers across the district DELL Tech Certification training also takes place in the Technology Center

CAREER RESIDENCY

Career Residency is a 31,720 sq. ft. area within the PIE Center sponsored by the Tucker Foundation. The programs within Career Residency provide students with a vision for their future through hands-on and skills-focused learning through a curriculum specifically for the construction trades. Career Residency is home to the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) and HVAC Programs The Programs of Study within Career Residency, aligned to the construction industry, prepare students for employment after graduation, Work-Based Learning while in high school, connect students with industry contacts and postsecondary training programs, and emphasize skills and safety training.

After completing Fundamentals of Construction at their home school and earning partial NCCER certification, students can enter Career Residency at PIE during their junior or senior year of high school. Upon entering this program, students receive dedicated support to meet scheduling and academic challenges, linking high school requirements with postsecondary coursework while logging pre-apprenticeship hours.

The capstone classes and projects in the MEP program cover CTE curriculum standards while meeting the expectations of entry-level apprenticeship requirements for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.

MEP- MECHANICAL, ELECTRIC, PLUMBING PROGRAM

The MEP Program offers students hands-on training in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) trades. Designed to prepare future skilled professionals, the program covers HVAC systems, electrical wiring, plumbing installation, and blueprint reading With access to industry-grade tools and expert mentorship, students gain practical experience and earn certifications. The MEP Program is shaping the next generation of skilled tradespeople, equipping them with the knowledge and experience needed to excel in highdemand industries.

Mechancial- HVAC

The HVAC class offered at the PIE Center is a Cleveland State Community College program. HVAC includes both Bradley County Schools students as well as adult learners from the community. Students can leave with their HVAC Certification along with great hands-on experience Cleveland State houses their full HVAC in Career Residency.

ELECTRIC-PREAPPRENTICESHIP WITH MASSEY

Massey Electric partners with BCS to provide a registered pre-apprenticeship program. This program allows students to move seamlessly into the Massey Electric Apprenticeship Program with one year completed.

PLUMBING

Plumbing at the PIE Center is a Dual Enrollment program with Cleveland State. Students and adult learners engage together to complete the plumbing certification This is an 11-month program and participants leave workforce ready.

COMPASS

The COMPASS at PIE is a state-of-theart educational training center and office complex designed to support students in their journey toward college and career success Serving as a hub for Bradley County employees, the facility provides valuable resources and guidance to help students explore their future pathways. COMPASS at PIE features a spacious training area that can accommodate up to 200 attendees, making it an ideal venue for workshops, seminars, and professional development events. Whether for large gatherings or small group discussions, COMPASS at PIE offers a modern, adaptable environment to foster education and career readiness.

OFFICES

COMPASS at PIE is a multifunctional space designed to support collaboration, professional development, and specialized services One of its key features is a fully equipped catering kitchen The adjoining event space includes 16 round tables and comfortable chairs, allowing for flexible arrangements to accommodate a variety of needs. A built-in media package, which includes a podium, enhances presentations and training sessions, making the space adaptable for different functions

Additionally, COMPASS at PIE features a dedicated conference room that seats up to 12 people, providing a professional setting for meetings and discussions. Several offices within the facility serve as workspaces for PIE Center Career Coaches, Bradley County Schools psychologists, and special services staff, ensuring that students and community members have access to essential resources and support.

WACKER COMMONS

Wacker Commons is a 14,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art multi-use facility designed to accommodate a wide range of events, from athletic competitions and career fairs to largescale conferences and industry showcases With a seating capacity of up to 1,100 people in chairs or 600 at tables, this expansive venue provides a dynamic setting for gatherings of all sizes.

As the largest event space in Cleveland and Bradley County outside of churches, Wacker Commons is a premier destination for both community and professional events. Its versatile layout supports various configurations, making it ideal for sporting events, exhibitions, banquets, and networking functions.

To enhance functionality, the facility includes a catering kitchen and a dedicated refreshment serving area, ensuring seamless food and beverage service for attendees. Additionally, well-maintained restrooms are conveniently located within the space for guest comfort.

For events other than athletic competitions, a required protective floor covering is available to preserve the facility’s integrity and ensure a polished appearance. Whether hosting a business expo, a large meeting, or an educational seminar, Wacker Commons offers the space and amenities needed to create a successful and engaging experience.

Although designed to expand educational opportunities, the PIE Center also impacts the community’s prosperity and well-being by equipping this generation with the focus and purpose needed to pursue careers and postsecondary education.

Education enriches the lives of students, helps them recognize their potential, and imparts a vision for their future While education reflects the primary mission of the PIE Center, it alone cannot remove the barriers to success created by inadequate life skills, lack of financial resources, and social challenges To address these issues, Connect at PIE was incorporated and established on-site.

Connect at PIE houses key partner organizations, including UT Extension, Centerstone Counseling, American Job Center

and Character Coaches. It also features three dual enrollment rooms used for a variety of classes available to both students and adult learners.

The social service organizations located in Connect at PIE provide immediate and accessible support to students facing challenges that affect their ability to focus on educational opportunities or plan for their future Specifically, students can:

Whether you’re a recent college graduate looking for a job, a seasoned employee wanting a career change, a justice involved individual getting back into the workforce, a veteran returning to civilian life, a senior 55 or older wanting to update work skills, a migrant farm worker, a youth the American Job Center offers services for a wide range of circumstances to help meet your employment needs They provide free access to the resource rooms which include computers and Internet, telephones, and fax machines Also, job seekers can attend on-site recruiting events, workshops on resumé writing, interviewing skills, and job search activities, or pursue more intensive training or certifications for occupations that are in demand. American Job Centers give you the right tools you need to succeed!

CORE

Core at PIE is the centralized STEAM Training Center at the PIE Innovation Center Core offers an expansion of current Career and Technical Education programs such as machining, welding, advanced mechatronics, advanced health sciences, and pre-nursing, along with audiovisual internship opportunities.

In addition, Core, in collaboration with Cleveland State Community College, has developed a new program of study in Chemical Technology Engineering (Chem Tech). Students also have access to Training Dojos that provide instruction in quality assurance, OSHA compliance, lean manufacturing, and precision measurement.

Core features four unique classrooms designed to foster collaborative, project-based learning Each classroom is tailored to meet the needs of students and their projects These classrooms were made possible through the generous support of Bank of Cleveland, the Brown Family, the C.L. Hardwick Family, and Jackson Industries.

The PIE Innovation Center allows students to operate on flexible schedules (A/B, morning, afternoon, evening) to earn postsecondary credits and receive skilled training

Chemistry Technician

A chemistry technician, also known as a chemical technologist, is a laboratory professional who works with chemists and engineers to develop, test, and manufacture chemical products They perform many of the hands-on tasks in a laboratory setting. The Chem Tech Program partners with Cleveland State Community College.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES STEM ADVANCED HEALTH SCIENCE

AV PRODUCTION

The Jim & Carolyn Williams Recording Studio, also known as PIE Studios, is a cutting-edge facility equipped with state-of-the-art recording technology Designed for versatility, the studio accommodates a range of projects, from producing small podcasts to recording and mixing performances by small choirs or rock bands. With high-quality equipment and professional-grade acoustics, PIE Studios provides a dynamic space for creativity, collaboration, and high-fidelity audio production

Advanced Health Science Offerings at the PIE Center will incorporate capstone, Dual Enrollment, and Industry Credential Classes to jumpstart a career in Nursing, Therapeutics, and Sports and Human Performance. The Health Science classroom also serves as a Regional CNA Testing Site. Health Sciences partner with both TCATAthens and Cleveland State Community College

CAFE at PIE

Café at PIE is a part of Bradley County Schools Nutrition. The Café serves as a cafeteria for students to eat breakfast and lunch at while they are at the PIE Center. They are provided with the choice of a hot meal or a prepared grab-ngo box. Students can choose to eat here or at their home schools.

COFFEE AND PIE

Coffee and PIE is a partnership with Junior Achievement that allows Entrepreneurship, Business, and Marketing students to run a business. Students are responsible for selecting products to sell, defining pricing margins, and advertising the business.

Center for Sports Medicine

C4 Sports Therapy is a rehabilitation center. They offer a comprehensive, functional approach to rehabilitation, preparing individuals for active lifestyles in both play and work Their state-of-the-art equipment and specialized healthcare professionals aim to help athletes and active individuals achieve their fullest potential. C4 works with our Sports and Rehabilitation students to provide mentorships, job shadowing and internships.

Boys and Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Ocoee Region (BGCOR) operates a unit at the PIE Center, offering programs and services to support the development and well-being of youth in the community. BGCOR provides a safe and engaging environment for children and adolescents, promoting academic success, healthy lifestyles, and d h acter. The Morelock PIE fosters workforce t and career readiness ts.

Just Love Coffee

Just Love Coffee is a fully operational coffee shop that serves hand-crafted coffee creations and offers a variety of food options. Students are able to work in at Just Love Coffee as a Work Based Learning placement PIE Center students frequent the café during break times

Southern Heritage Bank

Southern Heritage Bank at the PIE Center is a new fully functional branch of the bank. Beyond providing financial services, Southern Heritage Bank actively engages with the PIE Innovation Center's mission to enhance educational and workforce development opportunities A team at the bank leads a student advisory group each year where students are educated on the banking business and financial literacy.

Piedmont National

Piedmont National has been a leader in packaging solutions since 1950. Piedmont offers training in end-of-line packaging materials and automation, technical service on warehouse equipment, along with kitting and assembly The company hosts events in its showroom, providing students and manufacturers with insights into packaging and shipping processes. This partnership exemplifies a commitment to fostering a skilled workforce, that benefits both Tennessee and beyond

Mint Condition

Mint Condition is a commercial cleaning company offering comprehensive cleaning, disinfecting, and janitorial services to businesses, operating through a network of franchisees and regional offices. Mint Condition services several cafeterias in Bradley County Schools with excellence.

Sweet Emmaline’s Cheesecakes

Sweet Emmaline’s Cheesecake’s space is used as a commercial kitchen. The cheesecakes are prepared in their space and then sent out to be sold in various store fronts in Cleveland They are developing a partnership with the Culinary program.

Peformance

Peak Performance Inc partnered with the PIE Innovation Center to establish the Smart Factory Institute, a business-driven initiative guided by the TN Manufacturers Association. Peak Performance hosts training for new techniques and equipment that are used in the manufacturing field Students are able to collaborate with events and attend trainings with Peak Performance.

Sculpt Pilates

Sculpt Pilates is a boutique reformer Pilates studio located at The PIE Center. The studio offers a variety of classes designed to cater to different fitness levels and goals, including Fundamentals, Full Body Reform, Advanced Reformer, Sculpt, Sweat, and Stretch and Refresh. Health Science students are placed in Sculpt for workbased learning opportunities and clinical internships.

WRIGHT BROTHERS PROGRAM

Known for its large-scale projects in heavy civil construction, site development, and roadwork, the company is now making a lasting impact beyond construction sites by investing in the next generation of skilled workers through its partnership with the PIE Innovation Center

Founded on principles of integrity, and craftsmanship, Wright Brothers Construction has spent decades shaping the region's landscape with precision and reliability. Now, they’re turning their focus toward shaping minds by supporting education and workforce development

By collaborating with the center, Wright Brothers is helping bridge the gap between

education and industry Their involvement provides students with hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to careers in construction, engineering, and project management. This partnership ensures that students gain not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills, making them workforce-ready upon graduation Wright Brothers has hired over 26 students.

MEDIUM/HEAVY TRUCK TECHNOLOGY

The Medium-Heavy Truck Technology Center at PIE is a 16,000 square ft area able to accommodate four large trucks used for skill development and postsecondary credentialing. The center was designed in collaboration with McKee Foods, Covenant Transport, and TCAT Athens. The McKee family invited a team from Bradley County to visit their Gentry Arkansas location where they provide a Medium-Heavy Truck Technology Program to their local high school and postsecondary institution.

The Medium-Heavy Truck Technology Program is offered to the students of Bradley, Polk, and Meigs Counties. The program is a TCAT program and students leave high school with postsecondary credentials.

Due to the broad scope of practice and collaborative advice from partners, the Medium-Heavy Truck Technology Program was established in lieu of the traditional Diesel Programming. Dual Enrollment

The Medium and Heavy Trucking Equipment Technology program provides practical experience in the repair and maintenance of engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, clutch and transmissions, hydraulics, drivelines and axles, frame and suspension systems, steering systems, brake systems, air systems, foundation brakes, drive train component systems and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.

Students receive instruction in diagnosing trouble, system analysis, disassembly, replacing defective parts, reassembling, etc. The program mission is to provide technical instruction and skill development to enable students to enter employment in truck and other related fields as technicians

TECHNOLOGY CENTER

Bradley County Schools' newest Technology Center is home to the thriving Dell Student Tech Crew program, a groundbreaking initiative that equips students with real-world technical skills while supporting the district’s technology infrastructure First implemented in August 2021, the program has rapidly expanded across secondary schools, providing invaluable hands-on experience for students interested in technology careers

Growing Partnership with Dell Technologies

As the program has grown, so has Bradley County Schools' partnership with Dell Technologies Dell continues to support the initiative by providing resources, mentorship, and access to Dell Technician Certification

This certification allows students to gain industry-recognized credentials, enhancing their resumes and opening doors to future career opportunities in IT and technical support.

The relationship with Dell Technologies is a testament to the success of the program, as the company remains invested in ensuring that students receive quality training in troubleshooting, repair, and device management. Through this collaboration, students are not only learning essential tech skills but also gaining exposure to professional environments, which will benefit them in their educational and career paths
