WORKING TOWARDS...

WORKING WITH KEY PARTNERS ACROSS THE CITY IN ACHIEVING ACCREDITATION IN MANAGEMENT OF THE EVENING AND NIGHTTIME ECONOMY

Spearheading the joining of forces and resources, Bradford at Night is a driving force for collaboration in helping address issues and improve outcomes in the evening and night-time economy.

By setting our sights on securing Purple Flag status for the city, a national accreditation issued by the Association of Town and City Management, it will enable Bradford to celebrate and promote its night-time offering as well as utilising its criteria as a tool in managing arising issues.

A Purple Flag visitor map for the city details key attractions and safety advice while the recent introduction of West Yorkshire Police’s ‘Night Safe’ project contributes to the city’s on-going Purple Flag commitment and brings uniformed and non-uniformed agencies together in ensuring Bradford remains a safe night out.

Playing to its strength in bringing individuals, businesses and sectors together, our role will remain central to the key city partnerships which exist for the good of the city and those who use it.

THE PEOPLE PLEDGE

We know that the behaviour of a small minority of groups can be intimidating and, on occasions, inappropriate.

We know that vast amounts of people in the city are proud Bradfordians, passionate to see investment brought into the city. They choose to champion Bradford and choose to spend their hard-earned cash to help keep our social and cultural economy alive, from attending events, hosting events and bring new ideas to the city landscape.

To support them, most Bradford licensees hold inclusivity at the foundation of their business From customers eating, staying the night to dancing the night away. Venues across the city have pledged commitment to best practice through initiatives and training such as Ask for Angela, Active Bystander, RESPECT to signing up to the Bradford at Night Charter.

Stakeholders - including the Bradford Council, West Yorkshire Police, Safer Bradford alongside supporters such as Street Angels, West Yorkshire’s Deputy Mayor, New Vision Bradford, Bradford BID - offer support in the city centre and encourage anyone acting inappropriately to reconsider their behaviour. We’re proud that so many visitors recognise these efforts and considerate welcome, and return frequently We know this is because of the warm and welcoming environment created in the city.
