HELPFUL INFORMATION Every endeavour is made to ensure that our allotments are maintained to a high standard and your help with this would be greatly appreciated. Allotments are inspected on a regular basis. We will take appropriate action in order to relet any plots which appear to be unused. Unfortunately, allotments are occasionally subject to antisocial behavior as they are open spaces with little protection, Please report any problems to us and to the Police on their non-emergency number 101.

ALLOTMENT SITES
GENERAL INFORMATION
Bracknell Town Council has eight different allotment sites with plots
available to rent in Bracknell. We have two large sites at either end of Great Hollands and a number of other small sites, around the Town. Allotments managed by the Town Council can only be let to people who live within the Town Council area. Residents of Binfield, Crowthorne, Sandhurst, Winkfield and Warfield need to apply to their own Parish. Allotments provide an ideal opportunity to spend time in the fresh air and to make new friends. However, they can be hard work and we ask anyone considering a plot to remember that there can initially be a great deal of digging before you reap the rewards of growing your own fresh produce, fruit and flowers. If you are interested in being placed on the waiting list for a plot with us you need to complete an application form. These are available from our website or at our offices at Brooke House in the town centre. Please be aware that we have a long waiting list. Once your name is on the waiting list we will contact you when a plot becomes available. You will then be asked to pay the annual fee, together with a £10 key deposit and to sign a Tenancy Agreement. The Tenancy Agreement is a statement of the rights and responsibilities between plot holders and the Town Council. It informs plot holders of their obligations towards other Tenants and the conditions under which the Agreement may be terminated. Rent renewals for allotment plots become payable at Michaelmas, the 29th September of each year. When you first take on a plot the rent will be apportioned to the time remaining to this date. Details of current charges are available upon application or on our website Buildings or structures on allotments are not permitted. Water butts are encouraged to collect rain water. The use of glass in cold frames etc. is prohibited. Water is provided on most sites. This is turned off during the winter months. Please share the job of keeping adjoining paths cut and maintained with your neighbour. Weed control fabric can be used to suppress weeds but please do not use it on pathways. Please do not use carpet. All rubbish must be removed by the Tenant. On the two largest sites communal compost bins are provided for vegetable waste and non-pernicious weeds. Please do not put any plastic bags/items into the compost bins. Allotment Tenants from all Bracknell Town Sites may help themselves to the compost and wood chip provided at these sites. Tenants are asked not to leave tools, wheelbarrows etc. on site. Some Tenants at our sites have formed Allotment Associations. Being neighbourly with adjoining Tenants, sharing tips, seeds, plants and surplus produce is part of the fun of being an allotment holder. If you would be interested in joining an Association please ask for further details.
Please be aware that some Tenants grow their fruit and vegetables organically and would prefer not to have weed killer, pesticides or artificial fertilizers used next to their plot where there is the possibility of contamination.
